Cooler weather

It seems to be a bit cooler this morning. Of course, I am up super early since I went to sleep really way to early last night. I woke up with sort of a scratchy throat and couldn’t go back to sleep. The cooler air feels good, compared to 95 degree weather at three am, like we have had. This is no doubt why I have a semi sore throat. Go figure. Changes in weather always do that to me. I think I’m going to try and find a movie to watch and also try to drift back to sleep for awhile if it’s possible.

Storms brewing

We here,  like most people are enduring or trying to endure sweltering hot weather the best we can. I must say though that people’s tempers are short and there are so many warnings about staying inside. I had to go to the store and noticed that the frozen food section was even unusually crowded, which lead me to believe that folks were hanging out just to keep cool, not to shop. Pretty sad. The weather report however is calling for some severe storms to start moving in. Hopefully it will cool things off. The only thing I’m a concerned about, as unpredictable as the weather has been, the storms will bring with it, tornadoes.

Shades of Oz?

We finally got the rain everyone has literally been praying for in these parts. Early this morning we had some hellacious winds, thunder and lightening. I was having my morning tea in my office and looked out the window in time to see the neighbor’s storm door fly off it’s hinges and go hurling across the yard. I must admit that the scene from Wizard of Oz flashed through my head…the one where the screen door went flying when Dorthy tried to open it. While looking outside, I did however notice it suddenly got very quiet, and everything looked sort of green. Like a green haze was in the air. Even as a kid living why out in BFE country, we were taught when we see that green haze, to take cover. Fortunately,  things settled down and then it cooled off considerably. This is not to say that we are still having some major storms heading this way again later on. I’ve decided not to worry about it though. I figure the Big Guy is ticked off and disappointed with the whole world and he and Mother Nature, are in cahoots as far as the weather goes. My motto… Be prepared for anything now a days, where the weather is concerned.

Summer cold and ickys

I fought hard but have come down with the one and only (I hope) summer cold I generally get. I’m saying I hope, because so many of my friends have been complaining that they get a cold, get over it, only to catch another virus again. Right now, all I want to do is wrap up in my blankie, but unfortunately it is about 98 degrees outside and feels like it is at least that temp inside also. A great rain storm would be very welcome right now. 🙁

The hot weather I asked for!

Well, I have to say that I am finally getting the hot and humid weather I have asked for. While everyone is complaining about the heat and the humidity and my dogs are moping around looking for a cool place to hang out, I’m in seventh heaven knowing that this won’t last as long as I would like it to. In the mean time, I’ve put out water with ice for the animals, give them special cool dishes that they will eat, instead of dog food and I remember how much I hate the cold winters here and that I am miserable though them. Actually with the ceiling fans going and the box and floor fans on, it’s really not too bad in the house. I hear people who complained about the cold all winter now complaining about the heat we are having now. It never ceases to amaze me when I hear this. Me? I’m just enjoying it all.

A cold spell?

After having 100 degree weather for a few days, it feels downright chilly out today. The sun is shining and most people would think this is “perfect weather”…to me it’s cold. I admit that those high heat days were humid and it made things a bit sticky. Never ever try grooming and clipping a long haired dog in that kind of weather. Heed my advice. It sticks to you all over, and even after a shower I felt like I had dog hair on me. LOL!

Grow little seeds!

I planted zinnia’s, hyacinth beans, poppies and some other plants today. Hopefully they will take. Haven’t even begun to start my straw bale garden yet. Work work and more work and not enough time to play in the dirt, like I so want to do. The weather is going from storms and chilly,  to what seems now like a drought. Today it got up to 101 degrees outside. I can’t believe with all the rain we had that the ground is cracking now.

Scary storms!

We had a really bad storm come through, along with a tornado. It could have been a lot worse, like it has been in other states though. Just going out and looking at the trees down, and whole roads blocked off with debris and even telephone lines and whole poles laying down in the fields was scary to see. I feel blessed that we didn’t get hit worse. And it’s only the beginning of summer.

Muddy floors.

Okay, after a week of rain with no respite in sight, I’m really tired of cleaning up muddy floors. I have a big HUGH welcome mat outside the door. And on the inside in the foyer, I have a big wipe your feet rug, along with a basket of soft footie socks for people to put on if they want them. All sizes. All I ask is, take the damn shoes off at the door. I even have a nice wooden and painted sign that asks nicely to do so. Do people do this? Very few. So…I’m sort of on the verge of not answering my door anymore. Or at least until some people get the hint. Okay…rant is over. For now. 😉

Spring as sprung?

Try telling the weather that, but last evening I was sitting in my office here at home, and the way my house is set up, I can see from my office into the living room and look out the front door and widows. I have lace curtains with tie backs on them, so indeed I can see straight out side. It hit me that my tree has all it’s leaves on it and looks like a green canopy. Of course most people have already realized that winter is over, but it hit me that I wasn’t looking at just tree branches. I know this sounds sort of strange, but the realization of the fact that perhaps now it really might get warm here, really hit me. I’ve also noticed that I have been too busy to notice little things and I need to take the time and a breather to appreciate it all.
