Shopping for pool supplies

So, despite of the fact I have a great cabin at the lake, I’ve decided it would be great to have a semi large pool in my back yard also. Buying pool supplies for me in the past was always one heck of a hassle and very expensive through out the summer though. I have to admit, I did have my reservations. When I did have my pool a few years ago, it was awesome to get off work, and then grab a book and my raft, along with a nice cool drink, then float around reading, sipping and relaxing. I can the feeling is still with me, hence the desire to have another pool, even though I’m concerned about the price of the up keep on it.

While looking at pool accessories, it nearly made me change my mind, until a friend of mine recommend this great online place, called Doheny’s Water Warehouse. I’m totally astonished at the great prices and their line of anything that a pool needs or could ever need for upkeep and also for fun! I saw this pool side water slide that my nephews would have such a great time on. Heck, so would I!!

Pool chemicals were so expensive at the pool supply shop that is near me, and half the time they didn’t have what I needed. It was always a iffy situation having them order what I needed for me also. 8 out of 10 times, it wasn’t what my pool was in need of. Once again that is why I was so hesitant about getting another pool. Now however, bring on the pool and summer fun!!

Before You Click That Camera

This was on Facebook and is so funny but also so true. I cannot tell you how many of these poses I have seen all over Facebook. It seems to be a problem with teenagers and very immature 20-somethings. Thankfully, many people do grow up after they hit 30 years old. So, before you click that camera, make sure you are not posing like the losers in this poster. Seriously.

British Accents

Yesterday I had the TV on and was bored with the same old shows. I started clicking through the channels and found myself on a channel that I have never watched before. It is called BBC America and it runs only shows produced and shown in Great Britain.

BBC America has a variety of really good shows with stars that I have never seen or heard of before. It was totally refreshing to see new faces and watch a couple of good shows – from a British perspective and with British accents. Very cool – I will have to remember that channel.

A small vacation

I sort of took a break for a few days. Just to remember how it felt without answering machines, cell phones, internet, and all of that. I even took out my rotary phone and hooked it up.

My family and close friends knew what I was doing, and said I indeed needed the break. I actually wish it would have been longer now. I do have time off to do this and I really want to.

So…if I disappear again for a bit, this is the reason. I am “roughing it” and know that everyone should do this, just to remember that all we have might not be there one day.

New tile for the master bath

Getting home improvement things are my passion. Or at least have become a passion. I’m getting new tile for the master bathroom, and I’m actually really excited to lay it. My friends think I’m sort of nuts, but at least they still love me.

Since I can work at home, it gives me time to also do the remodeling I want to do to my house. I love it! So the tile is to be delivered tomorrow, and I figure I’ll have it laid down by Monday at the latest. After the tile, I’ve been looking at mirrors. Lots of them. Not because I’m vain. I hardly even look in one unless I’m trying to braid my hair or put on my make up, which doesn’t take long since I don’t usually wear a lot.  I just think they will make the room look bigger.

I found some nice fluffy area rugs to put in the bathroom also. I love the feel of them on bare feet. I tried them out on my niece when I got them. She of course, adored them! I have a feeling she isn’t going to be using the guest bathroom, but that’s cool by me! She is the one that is going to help me lay the tile!!

Crowd control at the concert

When my sister and I got to the concert we were attending, we had been worried about crowd control, considering both of us are very small people and we also both have back and neck issues. We were concerned about being jostled about like some people are at big concerts while waiting in line for the doors to open. My sister was just recovering from surgery also, so that was something we had to consider.

I was surprised when we were parking, that there were barricades in the parking lots, so that non paying concert people could not use the parking lots for reasons other than this particular concert in the building it was being held in. This was a great help and made parking close for us a lot easier, since we had gotten there early enough, but didn’t know the area well and thought we would have a hard time with parking.

The stanchions leading up to the doors of the building and then also actually showing the way to the right concert hall really  helped keep the crowd from pushing ahead of others, or shoving pushing and the other rough action, sometimes associated with going to concerts. All in all, I was totally impressed with the way the whole concert was organized. Not to mention the concert in it’s self.

On the road again

My sister and I are off to our concert. We still have two hours of driving, but by our calculations we will get there early and might not get too jostled by the crowd. Both of us have bad backs and necks, so that would not be good for us.

I’m glad it stays lighter now, because the drive so far has been great. Lots of interesting things we are passing and we both want to come back to this area. It’s really pretty even without leaves on the trees. It also helps that my sister has a really comfortable, nice car!

Going to a concert

A friend of mine got me tickets to see Celtic Women in concert for my birthday present! It this Sunday and I know for a fact that it’s going to be very crowded. The great part is, I have really awesome seats. My friend can’t go, so I’m going to take my twin sister. Of course it is her birthday too!! LOL!

I’m really excited to go hear these ladies sing. Their voices are exceptional, and the ranges of each of their voices are all in grand harmony with one another.

I’m not looking forward to the long three hour drive, since my back is messed up. But in the long run it will be totally worth it.
