What a blast

Seems I didn’t have to take off work for the apple festival at all. I got off work a bit early,  picked up the kids from their schools and we came to my house, I had them do the weekend homework they had no argument at all, which was a plus. After that, since I knew there would be plenty of food at the festival, we took off. It was great since it was warm enough out that I just had the boys bring hoodies, in case it did get cooler out. We had a blast. There was a pumpkin carving contest, saw how cider was made, drank cider, there was a hay ride and all kinds of other great things to do. I have to admit that this year was the best apple festival I’ve ever been to here. Of course the kids got a bellyache from drinking so much cider and eating the caramel apples and other food, but they didn’t complain. I’m sure I’ll hear it from my sisters…LOL! Oh well, that is what Aunties do, right? Spoil the kids! 😉

Apple festival

Every year a local orchard has a really great apple festival. I’ve made plans to take my nephews to it with me. The weather has been totally beautiful, and it’s supposed to be for the next week, especially the weekend… high of 80 degrees, but breezy. It won’t be to warm for the kids to be tromping through the orchards, going on hay rides and their favorite…eating caramel apples, drinking cider and having a blast with the activities that they participate in every year there. I’m really looking forward to going to this so much that I’ve taken off work. Oh, it’s cool with my boss, she is going also. This is a great event around here for both kids and adults.

A great day

If doing absolutely nothing except reading, catching up on movies I’ve missed and eating what ever I wanted constitutes me being considered lazy, as one of my co workers made mention of…well so be it. I consider it having one great day!! 🙂

Craving Cake

For some strange reason I am craving cake. I want a big slice of chocolate cake, with dark fudge icing. I have no idea why I want chocolate cake at this time of night – and No, I’m not preggo! There is no way I am going to bake a cake tonight – I would probably fall asleep while it was in the oven and burn the place down! So I’ll have a cup of hot tea and head to bed. I hope the craving is gone by morning.

An addiction

I don’t eat sweets very often. In fact hardly ever, but my downfall is good chocolate. I love chocolate. My brother is in the service and travels all over Europe. Everywhere he goes, he will scout out really great chocolate and send it to me. It’s to die for.

I remember as a kid, the man who lived down the road was a traveling candy salesman and he would give my brothers and sister and I samples. My very most favorite chocolate was what was called, Ice Cubes. Even today, if I could find it, I would by cases just because I think by now it’s obsolete. This chocolate would melt in your mouth. Creamy, and just…awesome.

I’m constantly on the look out for great chocolate here in the States also. I keep in in case I need comfort food. Or because I lost a few pounds and feel like I can indulge and not fret about it. So bring on the chocolate. Everyone needs a good dose of it!

A very nice date

I went on my date with Michael and I was quite unprepared for him to know exactly where I wanted to go, as he lives out of State and I didn’t know he was familiar with the city I live near. Heck, I’m not even really that familiar with it, to be honest. When we got to the restaurant I had wanted to go to because of the food they served,  I discovered we needed reservations, or would have to wait. He gave the lady his name and we got a table right away.

I was curious as to how he knew directions, hours, the fact we needed reservations, and darn near everything about this city, if he hadn’t been familiar with it. At first he joked a bit and said things like, “psychic”, “magic” and what not. But then he admitted that he had got on the computer and looked it up in what he liked to call a city’s local yellow pages. I had never even knew a service like this existed.

Our date went really well. The food at the restaurant was delicious and our conversation was just the same as it had been when we last had gotten together. We’ll see what happens. When I got home,  I did however, get on my computer and look at the link he had given me, so find out what it was all about what he had been talking of, and was impressed with it. If I need any information for local businesses or darn near anything one could find in the yellow pages, I can just go online. I hate looking up things in the phone books. My eyes aren’t as they used to be, and it is a pain in the butt. All I have to do is type in what I want and it comes up. This I love a lot! We’ll  have to wait and see about Michael.  To be continued… 😉

Going out

I haven’t had a real date in I’m not sure how long. I’ve always said that I’ve not been ready to settle down and that was that. It actually means, that I just haven’t found, “The right man.”  Over this weekend, I got a phone call from an old friend I hadn’t seen in a very long time. It was so good to hear from him. We picked up sort of right where we left off, the last time we spoke. It was like we had been talking on the phone or keeping in touch all these years. Very cool. He’s asked me to an early dinner, and I’m going to go. I’m not nervous at all. He has custody of one of his children, the other is grown. And with all my nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, I’m pretty much into or at least like kids. Until they get mouthy, and it’s let known I don’t tolerate it.  So, Michael doesn’t have a problem at all with me getting to know his kids, who I did know a little bit when they were younger. He also has a couple grand kids, once of which stays with him a majority of the time, and who he supports. (Long story). So this should all be good.

We’re going out for supper tonight at a place I’ve wanted to go to forever. I love it when I get to pick the restaurants, but he remembers I only will eat mainly seafood, rice and veggies. Okay…unless I pig out on junk food now and then, but of course never ever ever, fast food. Besides, Michael isn’t the kind to take even his kids or grand kids to fast food places. 😉 This place is a jeans and sweater type place, but with some class, so I’m all for it. We’ll see how this goes.

The Seven Deadly sins.

A friend of mine found this for me, after I had asked her what the 7 deadly sins were, as I couldn’t remember them all. Heck I never have been able to remember them. So I guess this is her way of reminding me. LOL!

Easter tomorrow

I have absolutely no plans for Easter what so ever. And in a way it feels like of good. Usually we have a family dinner at my mom’s house, but this year she is going to my younger sister’s place and it’s just too far of a drive for me. I’m going to relax, read a book and eat chocolate. No doubt gain ten pounds but (shrugs) I’ll work it off in no time!

I’ve Been Baking

This winter has been so brutal and Spring still seems to be a couple weeks away, so I am getting into the mood for fresh baked breads and cakes. I have had cravings for fresh bread for several days, so I dug out the bread machine, bought some yeast, and have been making bread every morning this week. Yum!
