Would this be good for a teenager?

When Shawna told me that her teenage son Justin was interested in learning how to compose and mix his own music, using his computer, I was quite surprised! I had no idea that there would be any kind of software available for a regular computer that would allow a beginner to do things like that.

Shawna told me that Justin was telling her that he might like to learn more about the sony acid music studio software, and see if that would be a good idea to get. I was trying to help out by finding some reviews on the product, but so far I haven’t seen any. So, if any of my readers out there have tried this, I’d like to know what you think – would this be a good program to buy for a teenager that is just starting out?

Guess I never thought about that before

Even though I grew up in a family of musicians, my own personal “hands-on” experience has been limited to childhood piano lessons. I used to watch my other family members play their instruments, and I enjoyed singing and dancing to the music that they played. I never really payed a lot of attention to the logistics of tuning any of their instruments. I guess that is why I was mildly surprised when Chuck was telling me that he was teaching Jack how to tune a drum set this weekend. I never really ever thought about having to tune up a drum!

You can find your health insurance online

For my dear friends in North Carolina, I wanted to let you know that if you are still desperately looking for health insurance coverage, my good friend Julie found insurance here that took care of her needs. You don’t have to spend much more time looking around and asking all of your friends and family what to do. Thank goodness for the Internet – it certainly is making a lot of things in life a lot easier to accomplish!

Fasteners

I decided that I will fix the deck out back myself. I just went online to order the fasteners that I will need. I started expanding the deck with the help of a friend last summer. He was supposed to finish it, but then had to move out of state for work and was unable to. We had already bought all of the wood, which has been stored in the shed over the winter. The base has already been up and all I need to do is the rest. It shouldn’t take me very long.

New mic

I bought a new sure beta mic today. My old one just quit on me and I really had no choice. I have to get the pitch just right for this performance we are doing at school and practice makes perfect. You really can’t practice at home and get the same sounds without one. My teacher says I am over doing it, but I really just want to do well.

Working in the garden

I have been working in my garden a lot lately. We may not have had much rain, but the weeds are still growing exponentially. At least it seems that way. I have some really great herbs growing and will have plenty to dry. I prefer to use them fresh, but once the growing season is over, I will have to harvest what is left and either replant some into the kitchen containers or dry them. It isn’t very difficult to do. You just cut them and then use string to wrap them into bundles. Then you hang them up. After they dry out, you can bottle or bag them according to how you like to store them. It’s easy peasy!

Kennels

It’s past time to get a couple of kennels for the dogs. My yard is not fenced in and they are wanting out a lot already this summer. I just don’t have the time to keep taking them for constant walks. It is interrupting while I work and since I am writing a lot, it interrupts my train of thought. If I get them kennels, they can go outside and stay for a few hours in the morning and in the evening for fresh air.

These are covered and can keep them out of the direct sun and the rain as well.

Working on the Garden

I have been working in my garden and getting the soil ready for planting. I also bought some stuff for the kids to plant of their own that I know they are going to love. There are these bio dome gardens and such that are designed towards kids. One is a butterfly garden and there is another that is a carnivorous garden with  Venus Fly Trap, Sundew Plant, Hooded Pitcher Plant, Purple Pitcher Plant and others in them. The boys will adore that one. I cannot wait for them to arrive in the mail. I would have bought it at the Tractor Supply near the house but they were out and the Walmart near me didn’t even have them. I am certain they will come in soon though.

Spring is in the air

Spring is in the air and I am loving it. The Dogwoods are blooming and the trees are finally begining to grow a few leaves. It won’t be long before they are full and green. I am so happy that the cold weather is finally gone. I will get out in the yard this weekend and clean up the broken branches and sticks, because it is already looking like I will have to mow the yard soon. I am not looking forward to the seasonal allergies though. I will have to make a trip to the pharmacy to get some allergy meds. Blech…

Dog training

I am not sure how everyone else trains their dogs, but I found some dog training collars reviews for those who are thinking of using them. I like to research everything before I try one or another. The collars worked very well on my larger breed dogs and they took very well to the them and the training. I haven’t had any problems with them ever since then. Read through the information and decide for yourself.
