Disciplining my dog is something I do believe I’m going to start having to do more of when it comes to people coming to the door. He’s a great watchdog and will bark like crazy, but as hes getting older, he’s also getting a bit mean when it comes to people he hasn’t seen in awhile coming over. This is not cool, considering the holidays are upon us and visitors are coming and going. I worry that he is going to bite someone who is a friend or family member. So, a bit of doggy discipline in in order for him. Not too much, as I still want him to be a watch dog, but well…not for him to bite people unless they are breaking in or unless someone hurts me.
Happy Sunday
Oh what a happy Sunday. I finally got to sleep in for a change. I miss the days when I used to get to sleep in all the time. Oh well, at least I got to today. I am going to have a lazy Sunday. I don’t intend on doing anything, but veg out on the couch and read a book. I need the down time so very badly and since today started off so well, I am keeping with the program. Hope everyone has a great day.
Finding room for our wine in our home
Guest post written by Annie Kemp
Now that we’re empty nesters it seems that just about the only thing that we don’t have room for in our home is the wine that we’ve started collecting as a hobby. We have all of this empty room in everywhere else but the house. But we want to be able to use our home as we see fit now and are renovating several parts of the house as we see fit.
When I was looking around for some info on how to make a wine cellar, just out of curiosity, I saw some info on sears vinyl siding and realized that our home could also use that upgrade.
I’ve explored lots of different options and I think that we’re going to maybe bump out our kitchen and get a wine storage shelf built into the room. I think that it will be such a nice looking addition to the room. I guess that I’ll also have to buy some more wine to fill up all of that storage space.
New glasses
I need new glasses. I made an appointment with the Richmond Hill optometrist today. My appointment with the Richmond Hill Optometrist is on Friday. I need a pair of contacts as well as glasses. There is no excuse to not get my eye examination. It only happens once a year, so it is not that difficult. I actually like my eye doctor as he is better than the last one. The last one had the worst breath on the planet and this one does not.
I think I want to get colored contacts. My eyes are naturally green, and I would like them blue for a little while. There are all kinds of colors and what not for my to choose from. I can even make them like Riddick’s eyes from the Chronicles of Riddick movies. That would be awesome. They look like they can see in the dark they are so cool. Richmond Hill optometrist can help me with that.
Time for some coffee
I love my coffee. I just have to have it every morning to meet and greet the world. It helps tremendously.
I am not really picky about the coffee brand, but I do like flavored coffee’s. I used to have a Gevalia account, but it grew expensive and honestly I can buy just about all of the same flavors in the grocery store now and it is cheaper. Especially if I go to the organic store. They have amazing flavors. I might have to stop by there today.
British Accents
Yesterday I had the TV on and was bored with the same old shows. I started clicking through the channels and found myself on a channel that I have never watched before. It is called BBC America and it runs only shows produced and shown in Great Britain.
BBC America has a variety of really good shows with stars that I have never seen or heard of before. It was totally refreshing to see new faces and watch a couple of good shows – from a British perspective and with British accents. Very cool – I will have to remember that channel.
A small vacation
I sort of took a break for a few days. Just to remember how it felt without answering machines, cell phones, internet, and all of that. I even took out my rotary phone and hooked it up.
My family and close friends knew what I was doing, and said I indeed needed the break. I actually wish it would have been longer now. I do have time off to do this and I really want to.
So…if I disappear again for a bit, this is the reason. I am “roughing it” and know that everyone should do this, just to remember that all we have might not be there one day.
New tile for the master bath
Getting home improvement things are my passion. Or at least have become a passion. I’m getting new tile for the master bathroom, and I’m actually really excited to lay it. My friends think I’m sort of nuts, but at least they still love me.
Since I can work at home, it gives me time to also do the remodeling I want to do to my house. I love it! So the tile is to be delivered tomorrow, and I figure I’ll have it laid down by Monday at the latest. After the tile, I’ve been looking at mirrors. Lots of them. Not because I’m vain. I hardly even look in one unless I’m trying to braid my hair or put on my make up, which doesn’t take long since I don’t usually wear a lot. I just think they will make the room look bigger.
I found some nice fluffy area rugs to put in the bathroom also. I love the feel of them on bare feet. I tried them out on my niece when I got them. She of course, adored them! I have a feeling she isn’t going to be using the guest bathroom, but that’s cool by me! She is the one that is going to help me lay the tile!!
Paint samples
Has anyone ever noticed that paint samples don’t look like they do under the florescent lights in the store as they do when you bring an armload full to hold up to the walls you want to paint? I want to paint the spare bedroom that I’ve been working on, and have no idea what color to paint it yet. Nothing has caught my eye.
I did go to some stores that have tiny cans of paint they call samples. I grabbed some of those not realized they are not samples…one has to pay for them. At least in all except one store I went to. And the paint isn’t enough to try various places on the walls where the light changes.
I once painted my dining room walls, what looked like a light rose color, but in one corner my Mom actually told me it looked, “pancreas pink”. Yep, those were her words. I ended up getting a natural neutral color and sponge painted the whole room to break up the ugly pink color in the one corner. Ever since, I found when my Mom said that, I now I have sort of a complex about what colors I choose. LOL! I’m still looking though. One indeed will catch my eye, and not look the color of an internal body part. (Hopefully).
Stunning wallpaper
I’m about ready to buy and put up the new wall paper I saw yesterday. It’s beautiful and would be perfect for my spare bedroom. I’ve been doing a lot of improvements lately because I’ve been kicking around the idea of selling the house and moving someplace warm.
When I was shopping at a warehouse in town for carpet actually. That and a new area rug. The place also has roll upon roll of wallpaper that is actually inexpensive but high quality. I found an awesome print. I wish I could have taken a photograph of it, but had forgotten to put my telephone on the charger. The way I figure it, home improvement will indeed up the value of the house, so that is going to be helpful if and when I decide to sell, so I can’t go wrong on spending the extra dollars on improvement.
By knowing how to do most of the remodeling and improvement, I am also saving lots of money by not hiring someone to do these projects. This is a definite plus.
