All the little parts that you need

My sister recently got interested in going to a karaoke bar every week with some friends. Her husband decided to buy her a little karaoke machine to use at home. She was hoping to get a wireless microphone to use with the machine.

The microphone that came with the machine has a cord, and she likes to dance while she is singing. She finds herself almost tripping over the cord when she is dancing. The problem seems to be that she doesn’t know all of the different parts that she will need for the wireless microphone to work.

I am trying to help her find out, and have been trying to understand if the wireless microphones we have been finding have their own amplifier or not, and what she would be able to use for speakers. Can she use her current karaoke machine at all for any of that? Or her TV set? We are feeling pretty stupid right about now!

Yule Logs

Poking around the cable on demand, I found a cool feature that I did not know about. Comcast has a channel at Christmas that is a video of burning yule logs. They play soft Christmas music in the background and there are no commercials. This was really nice to find – I hope they do it again next year.

Broken Remote

The TV in my living room is operated by a remote control that came with the cable box. As long as I leave the TV set on channel 3, I can use the remote to change channels, adjust the volume, and turn off all the components from the couch.

For some strange reason, my dog decided to chew on the remote this morning after I left for work. When I came home, the chewed remote was laying in the middle of the floor. Arrrrg!

Movie Night

Tonight I wanted to watch a movie and just chill out, but I couldn’t decide what to watch. I have a good collection of DVDs with a variety of genres, but nothing sounded appealing. So I turned to the On Demand listings and scrolled through the listing of free movies. They have an oldie but goodie on the list, a movie starring Cher and Wynonna Ryder called, “Mermaids.” So I think that’s what It will be for me tonight. Mermaids and popcorn.

70’s in November!

Wow! What a weather perfect weekend this is going to be! The forecast is for sunny days with temperatures in the 70’s and no rain for several days in the foreseeable future! This is perfect weather for doing fun things outdoors, like rock climbing, exploring the lakeshore, or even raking leaves and pruning shrubbery. This is the weather we should have had last month – it’s very unusual for November.

There is football on TV this afternoon and tomorrow, but the weather is too nice to be sitting inside watching a TV. I’m going to make the most of the nice weather and stay outside as much as I can!

Bar Rescue

I have fallen in love with this TV show. It is great ! The people go find these bars that are about to close their doors because they have no business and usually have turned into dive bars. They then check them out and go in pretending to be customers, before they announce themselves. After that they tell the people who they are and raise cain about what they see that is wrong with the bar. Usually it is just from laziness and people not doing their jobs right. After some training and a makeover for the bar itself, they reopen with a new name and find success. I like watching the turnaround.

Movie tonight

I need a break. I am going to go see a movie with the girls tonight. We will probably go out to eat as well, but the plans are still semi up in the air. I hope we go to the Outback Steak house. I am so in the mood for a bloomin’ onion and some shrimp on the barby. I haven’t been there in so long and when I saw a commercial for it last night on TV, I have been craving it ever since. I plan on pigging out if we get to go eat. I wonder what movie we will see though? I am not even sure what is playing right now. I guess I will find out when we get there.

British Accents

Yesterday I had the TV on and was bored with the same old shows. I started clicking through the channels and found myself on a channel that I have never watched before. It is called BBC America and it runs only shows produced and shown in Great Britain.

BBC America has a variety of really good shows with stars that I have never seen or heard of before. It was totally refreshing to see new faces and watch a couple of good shows – from a British perspective and with British accents. Very cool – I will have to remember that channel.
