Savings with online shopping

I had been trying to find a online site that had inexpensive deals with quality items and of course always read the reviews about the company’s, so I started reading the Nomorerack reviews, on a site I had been recommended. Great reviews and awesome sales, deals and prices! I personally haven’t bought anything yet, but indeed know a few friends who are members and have. There are no complaints what so ever with the products they have gotten. The savings also are incredible as being a member saves quite a bit of money and there are advantages.

I like sites that have reviews from real people like my, who sometimes are very leery about shopping online. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve bought items and various gifts online before, and they were really good deals, good service and fast shipping. But these reviews are from blogs from people who have used the site, and have blogged about them. I often am worried about scams and I found from quite a few peoples writings and reviews that this isn’t a Nomorerack scam. This makes trusting and buying from this company easier.

I personally would totally trust becoming a member like a friend is, and shopping on this site.

Stunning wallpaper

I’m about ready to buy and put up the new wall paper I saw yesterday. It’s beautiful and would be perfect for my spare bedroom. I’ve been doing a lot of improvements lately because I’ve been kicking around the idea of selling the house and moving someplace warm.

When I was shopping at a warehouse in town for carpet actually. That and a new area rug. The place also has roll upon roll of wallpaper that is actually inexpensive but high quality. I found an awesome print. I wish I could have taken a photograph of it, but had forgotten to put my telephone on the charger. The way I figure it, home improvement will indeed up the value of the house, so that is going to be  helpful if and when I decide to sell, so I can’t go wrong on spending the extra dollars on improvement.

By knowing how to do most of the remodeling and improvement, I am also saving lots of money by not hiring someone to do these projects. This is a definite plus.

Shopping with my niece

In staying with tradition, I took my niece Christmas shopping today. She is such a joy to spend time with and as she’s getting older, (she is 18 now) she’s become more like a friend to me. We did some shopping for her mom and her brothers, and I bought her some make up she’s been wanting. It was a great day.

Internet shopping for Christmas gifts

This year, I’ve decided to do a lot of my shopping online. I found a really great shotgun break down case for my “little” brother. He is an avid hunter and fisherman and this will be totally perfect for him. Each year, I like to get him things that I know he will enjoy and actually use. He is the youngest in the family, and when my mom worked, basically since I’m quite a bit older than he is, I used to keep an eye on him while she was at work. He’s pretty much my favorite of my siblings, even though it’s said one shouldn’t have favorites. It’s hard not to, since he is indeed the youngest.

My niece’s ten speed bike got stolen over Thanksgiving holidays, which to me is a darn shame, since she really is into biking and being a collage student rode her bike everywhere, to save on gas. Also she is into going on long bike rides for the fitness and also just for the pleasure of it, so now she is riding my old one. I hinted to her not to get another bicycle because, “Santa was coming soon”. I said it with a wink, so I’m sure she knows I’ll be buying her one.

One of my older nephews is seriously into collecting rocks, and hinted to me that he really needed a new rock collection display case. This will be a pleasure for me to get one for him, since I am into collecting rocks also, and always have been. So, three items are going to be crossed off my list soon!

Bell ringers already

This is getting a bit far fetched. I went shopping today and at every store entrance and exit there were the bell ringers for Good Will or Salvation Army dressed up like flipping Santa, or standing outside the store freezing their butts off. I hate not giving, but this is too much. I give some at CHRISTMAS. Yet it isn’t even Thanksgiving yet. I can’t afford to shell out money like that. And also I’ve noticed that these people get really pissed off if they don’t get a donation.

Cleaning greasy messes

It is time to clean out the grill and put it up for the winter and I found that I had to go on a hunt for perfect degreasers. I also realized that I am a really sloppy grill cooker, even though I don’t mean to be. I use tin foil most of the time for my vegetables and some other things, like stuffed tomatoes with tuna, which is easy to just to wrap in tinfoil and slap on the grill.

Actually in the summer, I grill more that I cook in my kitchen. I like being outside. I also love my patio and the fact that in the summer, I don’t have to stand in a hot kitchen. But like I said, I am a messy grill cook. I noticed that grease had splattered from off the grill or my grilling utensils, onto my patio stone and that regular degreasers were not got to get it all off.

A friend of mine suggested that I use industrial strength degreasers on the stone patio “floor” as I call it. I was kind of leery at first, but when I did indeed use it, and was careful following the instructions, it worked like a charm. I’m even thinking about keeping my grill covered but also available on the patio if I want to grill in the winter!

Engagement plans

My good friend’s boyfriend Tim, surprised me this afternoon by showing me the vintage engagement rings he had gotten for my friend Barb. They were on loan to show me, until he got my opinion and I have to say, the first one he showed me was the total pick!  It is simply beautiful. When I say the word “simply” it is meant in just that sense and meaning. Barb isn’t one of those women who like big, gaudy jewelry. She a sort of old fashion and elegant women, who prefers beautiful, but not flashy things.

This ring is perfect for her, and it shows that Tim knows her very well. By no means is it plain. The only word to describe it, is it has the look of true vintage engagement rings in a timeless era, if that makes sense. It is a three sided classic design, in platinum. There is the center diamond, and diamonds on the band on three sides. The center diamond is a princess cut and it looks like it is being held up with a round diamond in a square under the center stone. It’s totally Barb in the style also.

The fun part is, my dear friend doesn’t have a clue Tim got it. I’m sure they will get married, but Tim wanted this to be a total surprise and I also know that she will be so happy. Now it makes me want to look at vintage engagement rings, and just wear it on my right hand. I’ve thought about it in the past, and even Barb told me I should do this, since I have no plans or desire yet to get married but love the look of some of them.  I don’t see a reason why after my friends get married, I shouldn’t have one just because I’m not engaged.

A new camera

My favorite camera, an older Pentax, stopped working and I’m really bummed out about it. It looks like I’m going to have to break down and buy another camera this week. I carried the Pentax around with me where ever I went so I wouldn’t miss a cool or beautiful shot for a picture. I can honestly say, I don’t like digital cameras because of the hesitation right before clicking a photo. I’ve missed so many really good moments.

Great bedding

I have an over sized bed for the guest room, so I let my fingers do the shopping on the internet for bedding sets. We don’t have any stores around here or at least close to my home, that carry the bigger bedding, and believe me that I was getting rather discouraged going from store to store to try and find what I was looking for in the stores we do have.

With a antique bed the size I have,  it’s rather hard to find bigger bedding sets that are the look and style that I wanted. After about five hours of shopping, I decided to go online. I’ve sort of become a fan of online shopping lately. This site I found even was much less expensive than the bedding I had looked at in the stores I went to, and I was really thrilled to find what I was looking for to use on the bed in the guest room.

Once I hung the wall paper yesterday after having the new carpet installed, I did find the perfect bedding sets for not only the guest room, but also my own bed since I saved a lot of money. All I need to do now is paint the trim, put up the bed and arrange furniture. I’ll add the accents and I do believe I’m going to be happy with the results!

Wall paper decisions

We have this great place in town that sells wallpaper and carpet. I sort of went a bit overboard and spent more money than I maybe should have, but (shrug) I want this room to be comfortable and inviting. It’s not going to be girly, since I have lots of guy friends also, but it will be sort of a mix. At least that is my plan, so I bought wall paper that would be neutral. It’s still nice though and I’ll figure out the boarder once I go shopping for paint and bedding and such. I have a antique dresser and bed, plus some other things out of storage, so now I’m working with those also. I’m so happy when I do these kind of projects. 🙂 Good thing is, I do believe even though I spent more money than planned, I still saved a lot due to the specials that the store had!
