The weather forecast for this weekend is for snow on both Saturday and Sunday, possibly starting as early as Friday night! That means a white Christmas for Tennessee! The news channel that I watch says that we have only enjoyed a measurable snow on Christmas 9 times in over 100 years of record keeping. I had not realized that until now. So this year will be very special!
Tuscany
Movie lines always stick me with long after the movie ends. Sometimes I remember a couple of key lines better than the names of the actors and actresses.
I watched Under the Tuscan Sun last night. It was absolutely intriguing to follow the main character through her healing process or rebirth by moving to Italy on a whim. One of the lines that I really like follows the main character’s discovery that a man who was blatantly flirting with her is married. Her friend reassures her, “Flirting is a ritual in Italy. Just enjoy it.”
Watching the Snow
We had snow showers today. I’m not sure how you define “snow showers” versus “it snowed.” There was nothing on the ground or the roads – it just blew around and fell as big wet flakes for hours and hours. I liked it, especially since I did not have to go anywhere all day and was not worried about bad roads.
Pigged Out on Turkey
This little piggy cooked for Thanksgiving. This little piggy ate a lot. This little piggy is plowing through the leftovers- yum! Tomorrow there will be none. LOL
This was a nice Thanksgiving for me. Very quiet, lots of good food. I missed my family, but i called and spoke on the phone to everyone for a little bit. I feel so relaxed and refreshed. It was good.
Turkey Day
I want to wish all my family and friends a very Happy Thanksgiving. I’m sorry I’m not driving “home” for the holiday feast this year. I can’t make it work, but I am going to make sure to get there for Christmas!
I bought a small turkey and a frozen Sara Lee pumpkin pie. I’m going to give it a try while I don’t have too many critics to worry about pleasing. The turkey only needs 2 hours to cook, so I’ll be putting it in the oven in a few minutes and hope it turns out well.
Halloween’ers
My nephews made sure to stop by Auntie Alexa’s house for lots of candy! G. I. Joe and Bumbleebee from the Transformers. Aren’t they adorable?
I surprised the camera took such a good photo because it was getting dark. They had a lot of fun tonight!
Corn Bread
One of the fun things about dinner is having a different kind of bread on the side. I love biscuits, dinner rolls and garlic bread. But I also love cornbread and I try to fix that at least once a week.
Corn bread goes great with chili or any kind of macaroni and cheese casserole. Sometimes I fix it as a loaf of bread and sometimes I make muffins. I’m looking for the recipe of a type of cornbread that I have had at a restaurant. The cornbread is very loose and put on the plate with a big spoon. I don’t know what it is called, but it must be a relative to spoon bread.
Allergies Again
The past couple of days have been so bad for my allergies. I woke up Thursday morning with all the symptoms: stuffy nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, headache. Now my ears hurt too, and my throat is really sore.
I have no fever and achiness, so I don’t believe it is the flu. But none of the over the counter meds are helping. I tried my regular Tylenol Severe Allergy and got no relief, so I tried a couple of Claritan. Those did nothing at all for relief. Then a friend mentioned Zyrtec.
So I went to Walgreens this morning and bought a pack of Zyrtec. All of this allergy stuff is very expensive, so I hope this works and I don’t have to go back for something else tomorrow.
Happy Birthday, Sis!
Today is my sister’s birthday. I’m not going to say how old she is. Everyone who knows her and my family knows that she is two years younger than me. So if I tell you how old she is, then you know how old I am. So let’s just skip the divulge your age thing and move on to the fact that this is her birthday. I hope she celebrates all day and all night and has great fun. she deserved a special day and this is it!
Happy Birthday, Sis!
Remembering SRV
Wow – twenty years ago there was a terrible helicopter crash in Wisconsin and Stevie Ray Vaughan was killed. I was just a little kids, but I remember my mom and dad talking about it, in hushed tones. They were really upset about it.
Now that I know more about music and great guitar players, I can understand the impact of his death. Stevie Ray was a great guitarist and his story is intriguing. He had beaten his addiction to drugs and was on an upswing in his career and personal life and then got killed in a freak accident. What a terrible shame.
