Movies, Movies, Movies!

Dig this.. I got this trial paper and stuff in the mail to try Netflix for a month and if I like it, then it’s 7.99 a month. I’ve of course heard of it, but never tried it because I am a bit dubious about these things. But being the movie lover I want to watch movies when I want to watch them. Okay, so I’m sort of out of the scope of this kind of stuff…it really trips me out sometimes. But still, I’ve decided to try it out myself. 🙂

A “Lady Secret”

We all have some secrets that we don’t really want anyone to know about, but to me…heck, I’ll spill one because I’m not one to NOT share in case someone else has the same problem and needs a great remedy. Here it is folks, I have chin hair, or at least there for awhile I thought that I would in no time, be able to grow a beard. All the Wallace Lady’s have it. I got soooo tired of plucking every darn day and it was embarrassing as all get out. My sister turned me onto this great little gadget one day while we were at Mom’s visiting. It’s called a Emjoi Tweez’e. Nope folks, I’m not getting paid to endorse this either. I honest to golly love this little sucker. My sister even gave me hers, as she wanted me to get the results she did. It’s awesome. I’ve been using it for a year now and I get one or two fine hairs every now and then, but gone is the dreadful thought of having a beard and mustache!! The great thing is, you don’t need to pull out the makeup mirror, hunt for the tweezers you keep sacred, and it doesn’t hurt at all. So there you have my secret that actually isn’t a problem anymore. (:

On a Rant

I can not believe that a week ago, I was basking in the sunshine, even caught a tan and now it’s snowing. What is up with that? Of course, I can go on and on about how shooting big objects up into the atmosphere to see what they can see and also bombing the moon, not once, but two times may have something to do with it, as far as I’m concerned, but I’ll try not to depress myself even more by dwelling on it. I’m a sun baby, pure and simple. I hate the cold as much as I hate going to the dentist, which says a great deal right there. Okay, so my rant wasn’t really a full fledged rant, but a few more days of this will send me into one for sure!!

There comes a time…

I’ve been having lots of conversations with my favorite aunt, and she is having some health problems, so she wanted to discuss funeral planning. A lot of people may think this is kind of morbid, but it is a subject to address and get out of the way. I didn’t know it, but Auntie had been looking into resources for seniors because she is of course at that age. I’ve got to remember this as she seems so ageless to me. I think what got to me was that she fainted in church last Sunday and was rushed to the hospital. After staying there for a quite a long time waiting for test results and a doctor to come in and tell her what was going on, she got impatient and threw a fit. I don’t blame her. She wanted answers and since it was on the weekend, they were taking their sweet time getting any information to her or my mom who was with her. They sent her home with no real info and told her to see her family MD, as her blood pressure was low and so was  her potassium.

While we were talking on the phone, Auntie told me about already getting a Burial Insurance quote. That, I pretty much expected she had done a long time ago, as she is pretty much the type of person who is up on these type things and gets it all done in advance. I must admit though, it got me thinking in the long term sort of way for myself.

Burial Insurance for seniors is a must, I believe. I mean, I wouldn’t want anyone in debt over me kicking off. The Big Guy willing, I plan on hopefully living for a good long time, but still…one never knows and once I hit that senior age, I want to be prepared, so I did indeed listen to all of the info my aunt gave me.

The Illusionist

Folks, though this is an older movie, (I didn’t know it was.) some of you may have seen it. If not, I highly recommend it. I’m a movie freak, of course. But I am totally critical, from the costuming down to little things that I catch out of sync. This movie, is a must see. I had to watch it twice, matter of fact.

The Illusionist

Fact of the matter is, for some reason my ability to post the video isn’t working. But click and see if this works for you!

Gonna snuggle in for the night!

Nooo Silly’s… NOT with a guy. LOL! (Course, I did have one in mind, but…I’d feel sort of obligated in a chick type way to do the shave the legs, wash the hair, yada, yada, type stuff that I don’t feel like doing.) I just got a new comforter which is totally cozy, hence my name for blankies and comforters I love. It’s still early, but I’m going to jump in a hot bath, then put on sweats, pull my hair into a braid and plug in a movie.
My “kid” sister told me I HAD to watch the movie called, The Illusionist. I’ve got a six pack and some munchies and this will be my Friday night. I’ll update on the movie. Have a great weekend all!

Garden Idea

Oh the wonders of the internet. I had heard from a friend about straw bale gardening. She told me that she’d never tried it and really didn’t have the time to start a new project. Me? I say… Bring ‘er on!! I think that I have read darn near everything I can find on this subject and I’m ready to go for it! Just because. Give me a way to garden and I’m right on it! Since I have a guy friend who owns a farm and I work out there now and then like barter system type work, I have access to the bales of straw and extra twine…name it! I’m really looking forward to it. I have ten bales of straw out in the back yard now, and itching for warm enough weather so I can go out and play.

Ahhh Sunshine!

It’s been a totally glorious day today. I even caught a bit of a suntan!! Got a full dose of Vitamin D and Melatonin, plus felt great!! I putzed in the yard and sat in the sun making plans for which flowers and such, I wanted to plant where. Tomorrow it will no doubt so something funny and get cold and snow again, but at least for today, I was in 7th Heaven!! Sunshine is great for the health and soul!

Old Friends

A good friend of mine from when I went to high school found my blog and sent me an email last night. It was a very nice surprise to hear from Alicia after all these years and I can’t wait to call her tonight and catch up on what’s she been doing.

Alicia and I used to walk the whole mile and a quarter together from our houses to the junior high. She lived two blocks from my house and right on the way to school, so I would meet her at her front door every morning and have someone nice to talk to while we walked. Sometimes I miss those days!

Prom or Not?

Overheard some high school talking about whether or not they intended to go to their prom next month.

Everyone deserves a big special night. Getting nice clothes, having your hair and nails done, and going out looking fantastic and feeling special. Riding in a limo, eating at a nice restaurant, and then dancing for hours. Being with friends that you grew up with and might never see again, so you have one last special memory of good times with them.

So, my advice to those girls who have not yet decided, go to the prom and make the most of it. You might never have the chance to be glamorous and elegant like that again. If you have never done that, you are missing one of the best parts of life.
