Love and Chocolates

It’s really cool to have a holiday dedicated to love. So many other days are dedicated to births and deaths, but Valentine’s Day is dedicated to the love that makes it all happen.

Even people who have been a long time married couple appreciate the excuse to express their love to each other. This is one of my favorite holidays – it is all things good: love, chocolates, red roses, lingerie, a nice dinner out at a restaurant. Good things!

Glad that’s over

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I know that we still have the New Years celebration to do yet, but I don’t really count that as part of the holiday. After all I am back to work before then and it’s just another day. Fortunately for me I am not in retail or service and don’t have to worry about being inundated with customers because of it. I really feel sorry for those who work in the industries previously mentioned. They get so busy they barely have time to breath.

Once New Years passes, we can officially get back to normal life. That will be a good thing. I am so tired of the holiday season already. People just act too angry during the holidays now. It get really annoying. I remember the days when people used to be happy and sing carols and such, but not anymore. It has become so commercialized that everyone is just running in place to keep up. Enough ranting about that though. I have a lot of work to do and very little time to get it done.

Back to work

Well I am back to work and the kids are back in school after a well deserved holiday. We went to my sisters for dinner on Thanksgiving day and really enjoyed spending time with the family. Now I have to start really working on my Christmas shopping list. I don’t have much time left, plus this weekend we will put up the Christmas decorations and tree. I am going to be so busy over the next month, it is already making me tired just thinking about it. I love the holiday’s, but I can’t wait till they are over.

So much to do

There is always so much to do as the holidays begin to arrive. Starting with Halloween, there is decorations to go up and then back down. Toss some stuff out for Thanksgiving and bring it down as well. Then of course the major decorating for Christmas immediately following Thanksgiving. Lights to put up, picking the perfect tree and decorating it. This is a lot of work. In between each one, as you remove decoration, there is the cleaning process as well. By the time New Years gets here, I am usually exhausted. Then again, so is everyone else I know.

Nearly Here

My nephew called me this morning bright and early and informed me that Santa was nearly ready to pack up his sleigh. He sounded so excited. Of course I asked him how he knew this and since he has one heck of a cool imagination, he said he had all the dates and times figured out, at how long it would take him to get all over the world and his destination times, departures, and “rest stops” for the trip. Gotta love the kid. He indeed is going to do something really special with travel when he gets older!

Shopping with my niece

In staying with tradition, I took my niece Christmas shopping today. She is such a joy to spend time with and as she’s getting older, (she is 18 now) she’s become more like a friend to me. We did some shopping for her mom and her brothers, and I bought her some make up she’s been wanting. It was a great day.
