Disciplining my dog is something I do believe I’m going to start having to do more of when it comes to people coming to the door. He’s a great watchdog and will bark like crazy, but as hes getting older, he’s also getting a bit mean when it comes to people he hasn’t seen in awhile coming over. This is not cool, considering the holidays are upon us and visitors are coming and going. I worry that he is going to bite someone who is a friend or family member. So, a bit of doggy discipline in in order for him. Not too much, as I still want him to be a watch dog, but well…not for him to bite people unless they are breaking in or unless someone hurts me.
A dog bathing mistake
I had this “brilliant idea” to give my dog a bath in the kitchen sink, because bending over the bathtub hurts my back. Wrong idea, and not at all brilliant. I made three mental notes and they are as follows:
#1. I didn’t realize how much a small cocker spaniel weighs until after I got him in the sink and he is going on a diet.
#2. Though he fit well in the sink, he doesn’t like it one bit and escapes by leaping out half way through the shampooing and will always no doubt do this.
#3. (This is important) Always latch the dog door before trying to give him a bath again and never ever forget that he will head right for the tilled over garden.
