Nooo Silly’s… NOT with a guy. LOL! (Course, I did have one in mind, but…I’d feel sort of obligated in a chick type way to do the shave the legs, wash the hair, yada, yada, type stuff that I don’t feel like doing.) I just got a new comforter which is totally cozy, hence my name for blankies and comforters I love. It’s still early, but I’m going to jump in a hot bath, then put on sweats, pull my hair into a braid and plug in a movie.
My “kid” sister told me I HAD to watch the movie called, The Illusionist. I’ve got a six pack and some munchies and this will be my Friday night. I’ll update on the movie. Have a great weekend all!
Garden Idea
Oh the wonders of the internet. I had heard from a friend about straw bale gardening. She told me that she’d never tried it and really didn’t have the time to start a new project. Me? I say… Bring ‘er on!! I think that I have read darn near everything I can find on this subject and I’m ready to go for it! Just because. Give me a way to garden and I’m right on it! Since I have a guy friend who owns a farm and I work out there now and then like barter system type work, I have access to the bales of straw and extra twine…name it! I’m really looking forward to it. I have ten bales of straw out in the back yard now, and itching for warm enough weather so I can go out and play.
Ahhh Sunshine!
It’s been a totally glorious day today. I even caught a bit of a suntan!! Got a full dose of Vitamin D and Melatonin, plus felt great!! I putzed in the yard and sat in the sun making plans for which flowers and such, I wanted to plant where. Tomorrow it will no doubt so something funny and get cold and snow again, but at least for today, I was in 7th Heaven!! Sunshine is great for the health and soul!
Old Friends
A good friend of mine from when I went to high school found my blog and sent me an email last night. It was a very nice surprise to hear from Alicia after all these years and I can’t wait to call her tonight and catch up on what’s she been doing.
Alicia and I used to walk the whole mile and a quarter together from our houses to the junior high. She lived two blocks from my house and right on the way to school, so I would meet her at her front door every morning and have someone nice to talk to while we walked. Sometimes I miss those days!
Prom or Not?
Overheard some high school talking about whether or not they intended to go to their prom next month.
Everyone deserves a big special night. Getting nice clothes, having your hair and nails done, and going out looking fantastic and feeling special. Riding in a limo, eating at a nice restaurant, and then dancing for hours. Being with friends that you grew up with and might never see again, so you have one last special memory of good times with them.
So, my advice to those girls who have not yet decided, go to the prom and make the most of it. You might never have the chance to be glamorous and elegant like that again. If you have never done that, you are missing one of the best parts of life.
I Guess They Don’t “Get It”
Last night while fixing a late dinner – very late for me -I had the TV on to keep me company in the kitchen. The show was a news talk format with a local anchor interviewing two guests. I like the anchor – he does a good job, although he was not very familiar with the topic at hand: Domestic Violence.
The two guests were cops who work for Metro and do a lot of domestic work. I was interested but very dismayed to hear them talk. They really don’t get it. Seriously.
R I P Elizabeth Taylor
If there was one Hollywood actress whom my mother idolized, it was Elizabeth Taylor. She was the most beautiful and glamorous women on the big screen.
I was sad to read that Elizabeth Taylor passed away today from heart failure. At least she had the best medical care throughout her life and with all of her different conditions. And she had her family at her side – most close friends did have a chance to say goodbye.
I don’t know where the funeral will be held, but if I lived anywhere near her final resting place, I would make the effort to go to her funeral. She was an icon and will be missed.

Terrible News from Japan
This morning I heard a news report about a big earthquake in Japan. The earthquake was one of a series of quakes that have been going on all day. I think the USGS said that there were over 200 earthquakes there, and the biggest was over 8 on the magnitude scale. They are saying that this quake was one of the top 5 worst ever.
Then they had a tsunami, which wiped out entire towns and swept inland over 4 miles. I am stunned at all the damage and the certain loss of life.
My heart goes out to the people of Japan and hope that we can help them get through these twin disasters.
I’ve Been Baking
This winter has been so brutal and Spring still seems to be a couple weeks away, so I am getting into the mood for fresh baked breads and cakes. I have had cravings for fresh bread for several days, so I dug out the bread machine, bought some yeast, and have been making bread every morning this week. Yum!
