Critters Today

What a day!

This morning as I went to get in the car and go to work, I stepped off my porch step and over (thank GOD!) a snake. It was about two feet long and was just laying across the bottom step. I thought it was a stick at first, but then it moved. I about had a heart attack! It was a black snake, so it was not a venomous type of snake, but it still startled me!

Then I came home at lunch and found a big brown rabbit in my front yard. He hopped away as I got out of the car. I wonder if he will come back after I leave? I wonder if the snake has high hopes of catching that rabbit and feasting on that big bunny?

Fasteners

I decided that I will fix the deck out back myself. I just went online to order the fasteners that I will need. I started expanding the deck with the help of a friend last summer. He was supposed to finish it, but then had to move out of state for work and was unable to. We had already bought all of the wood, which has been stored in the shed over the winter. The base has already been up and all I need to do is the rest. It shouldn’t take me very long.

Monthly Duties

There’s a lot of things that I have to do every month. Maybe not all on the first day of the month, but the first day is a good reminder to get started on them. Some duties can be scheduled but others depend on receiving things in the mail before you can start on them.

Water the cactus
Get a mani/pedi
Hair cut and color
Balance the checkbook
Change the air filter in the furnace
Change the oil in the car
Pay bills
Toss last month’s magazines
Heartworm pill for my dog

I love buying wholesale

Whenever I get the chance to buy something at a wholesale price, I jump at it. Assuming, of course, that I actually NEED the product! I am a member of two wholesale clubs – Costco, and BJ’s. I love shopping there – I get a lot of good quality items at a low price, if I play my cards right. You have to be careful, though, and really know your prices if you want to save money! My old printer has started to act a little funny lately, and I’ve started to shop around for wholesale printers, to see what I might want to get as a replacement when this old one gasps its last breath. I don’t want to be rushing it to the junk-yard, mind you, I hope it runs for many years to come. But, a gal’s gotta be prepared, you know what I mean?

Movie Night

Tonight I wanted to watch a movie and just chill out, but I couldn’t decide what to watch. I have a good collection of DVDs with a variety of genres, but nothing sounded appealing. So I turned to the On Demand listings and scrolled through the listing of free movies. They have an oldie but goodie on the list, a movie starring Cher and Wynonna Ryder called, “Mermaids.” So I think that’s what It will be for me tonight. Mermaids and popcorn.

Change Your Clocks! Spring Forward!

If you change all your clocks to be an hour ahead right before you go to bed tonight, then the time should be right when you wake up. If you don’t do it until morning, you might forget and end up being late for church.

Don’t you just hate losing that hour of sleep in the spring?

Dance lessons

When Sissy heard that I was thinking about signing up for some dance classes, and couldn’t decide between ballroom, clogging, ballet, tap, or belly dance classes, she immediately decided that she was going to sign up for private dance lessons in santa monica herself. When she told me that, I had to work hard to restrain myself from making a snarky comment about how it seems that every time she hears that I am thinking about doing something, that she immediately has to say she is thinking about doing the same thing, but it is always “up a notch” as if to make herself look like she is better than me.

I’m thinking about telling her that I’m going to have some exotic body art work done, and see if she runs right out and does it first, and then not do it myself at all – just for a good laugh at her expense!

I love the new silent instruments

Back when I was in school, taking band, there was no such thing as a silent electric instrument of any kind. At least, not that I’m aware of! When a kid decided to learn how to play an instrument, everyone in the house got to listen the that kid practice, whether they wanted to hear it or not! I was really pleasantly surprised recently when I learned that almost any and every instrument ever made now seems to have a silent version – like the silent electric yamaha violin at WWBW that I found online a few minutes ago. I think that it’s fantastic that now people can learn how to play an instrument without driving everyone in the house crazy!

Happy Birthday Donna

A good friend of mine is celebrating her birthday today. She doesn’t usually make a big deal about it, but I found out last year and made a note on my calendar so I wouldn’t forget. It’s not a big “0” year, but it’s her special day. So, Happy Birthday, Donna! I hope you have a wonderful day!

The Beatles 50th Anniversary

Did you watch the TV special tribute to the Beatles on television tonight? I had forgotten it was going to be on, and tuned in about thirty minutes after it had started. I enjoyed the show immensely, but I was very annoyed about how often the camera showed the woman that had broken up the Beatles. I dislike her so much I won’t even write her name in my blog! I thought she acted like she was not sober, and made a spectacle of herself. I was really angry every time the camera showed her. Her presence there ruined the entire experience for me. I felt that she should not even had been in the audience at all.
