The weather forecast for this weekend is for snow on both Saturday and Sunday, possibly starting as early as Friday night! That means a white Christmas for Tennessee! The news channel that I watch says that we have only enjoyed a measurable snow on Christmas 9 times in over 100 years of record keeping. I had not realized that until now. So this year will be very special!
Pigged Out on Turkey
This little piggy cooked for Thanksgiving. This little piggy ate a lot. This little piggy is plowing through the leftovers- yum! Tomorrow there will be none. LOL
This was a nice Thanksgiving for me. Very quiet, lots of good food. I missed my family, but i called and spoke on the phone to everyone for a little bit. I feel so relaxed and refreshed. It was good.
Turkey Day
I want to wish all my family and friends a very Happy Thanksgiving. I’m sorry I’m not driving “home” for the holiday feast this year. I can’t make it work, but I am going to make sure to get there for Christmas!
I bought a small turkey and a frozen Sara Lee pumpkin pie. I’m going to give it a try while I don’t have too many critics to worry about pleasing. The turkey only needs 2 hours to cook, so I’ll be putting it in the oven in a few minutes and hope it turns out well.
Halloween’ers
My nephews made sure to stop by Auntie Alexa’s house for lots of candy! G. I. Joe and Bumbleebee from the Transformers. Aren’t they adorable?
I surprised the camera took such a good photo because it was getting dark. They had a lot of fun tonight!
CMA Week
This week is big time for Nashville. CMA week brings in a ton of country music artists for concerts and fan club meetings. There are free shows and activities downtown during the day, and then each night there is a big concert at the Titans stadium with all the major acts. I would love to see Carrie Underwood perform live – that is my goal this week.
Happy Birthday Reen!
My grandmother is celebrating her birthday today. I have so many great memories of summers spent with my grandmother. I always thought it was unfair that her birthday was in February, because I never get to see her in February and share the birthday celebration with her.
Nana Reen has a wonderful cabin on the River in Virginia. It is small enough that she can handle it on her own, as far as cleaning and routine maintenance. But it is large enough that a family can come for a weekend visit have be able to have use of two guest rooms with real beds. No sleeping on the couch or on the floor just for the sake of staying overnight with a relative.
Love you, Nana Reen – hope you have a fabulous day on your birthday and that we spring comes early so I can see you again real soon!
Happy New Year!
I’m looking forward to 2010. I hear you are supposed to call the year “twenty ten” rather than “two thousand ten.” I’m down with that!
Here’s hoping 2010 is good to all of us!
New Years Eve
Tonight is going to be a quiet celebration at home for New Year’s. I have been invited to a couple of parties, but to be honest, I don’t fell up for a lot of socializing and partying. I think I would like to be at home in the peace and quiet, and maybe relax with a good movie and some internet surfing or games. I have great hopes for the New Year. I just don’t want to start my year in a crowded room with a lot of drunk people.
And the Music Stopped
Tonight was the final concert of the CMA Music fest. The past 4 days and nights have been filled with country music stars and shows all over town. The big concerts have been held at the football stadium, but there have been a ton of smaller venues hosting fan club parties and invitation only concerts. There was even a book signing at the Country Music Hall of Fame that I will have to tell you about later.
For some strange reason, watching Wynona and her mother sing together last night gave me goosebumps. Their last song was “Love Can Build a Bridge” and the whole crowd knew every word and sang along with them. It was very emotional for me and inspiring.
I am hot and sweaty and my feet and legs are kiling me from all the walking and standing in lines this weekend. I’m heading to the shower and to bed.
Luv Gov
Hanging with some friends today, we decided to watch the Belmont horse race. This is the third race in the Triple Crown series of races. The winner of the Kentucky Derby is going to race in today’s race. That horse, Mine That Bird, did not win the second race in the series, so there will not be a Triple Crown winner this year. But it would be nice to see that horse win two out of the three.
There are some other hot contenders for today’s race. I personally like “Luv Gov,” named after former NY Governer Spitzer. If you remember that scandal, Gov. Spitzer had to resign because of his numerous affairs with prostitutes. Funny to see that they named a horse after him and that the horse is running in the Belmont Stakes in Saratoga, NY.
