Book or Movie First?

Ever since I was in grade school and learned to read, I’ve loved to read. I read books all the time, from the classics to those nasty romance novels that are good for a quick read on the bus or while baking on a beach lounge chair.

The Twilight books and movies caused a dilemma for me. Should I read the book first or watch the movie first? I wanted to maximize my reading or viewing enjoyment and not be disappointed with the second one.

Any suggestions from someone who has already done both as to whether I should read the book or watch the movie first?

Bargain Bin Movies

At Wal-Mart there was a big bin of movies priced at $5 each, so I took a look. There were a bunch of titles of movies there were big hits in the 1980’s and 1990’s. I thought it might be good to pick up a few kids movies and a couple sci-fi movies to have onhand in case of a rainy weekend. for $5 each, it was easy to find several and not spend very cash.

So happy

I had the best night last night with my honey. We had the house to ourselves and romped around like kids. Of course we are still kids if you ask anyone over forty, but that is okay by me. I made an awesome dinner for us we watched a couple of hilarious movies. The popcorn fight was fun, but cleaning it up later took some ingenuity. Boy that stuff really gets all over the place. I even found some this morning in the planter across the room. Not sure how that happened. Oh well, life is grand so who cares.

Iron Man

The kids are driving me crazy to go see the new Iron Man 3 movie. I can’t say that I blame them, because I would like to see it too. I am just not sure I want to brave the crowds tonight. I really prefer matinee’s, when the crowds are much less and the seating is better. Fighting for seats that are together is not my idea of a good time and my kids sit with me no matter what. I will have to see about going tomorrow. If I buy the tickets online tonight, then the kids will probably leave me alone about it. lol

A little depressed

I don’t know what is wrong with my today. I just can’t seem to get out of this funk. Life has been a bit difficult lately, but I am usually not one to become morose over it. I think it is time to snap myself out of this and need a distraction to do it. I think I will take the kids to a movie this afternoon. Actually it will be early evening, but we can go for pizza and a movie. That will make them very happy. I hope they don’t have a lot of homework to do. We shall see.

Road trip

I am going on a road trip to Memphis with my mom to see Graceland. I have always loved Elvis since I was a little kid growing up. I listened to his music, (mostly Christmas Carols) with my mom because he was her favorite when she was growing up. She told me all the stories about him and we watched all of his movies. It is something that we could enjoy together as mother/daughters should.

I have my own rituals with my daughter that we do. We watch the Grease, Dirty Dancing and other movies of the like, that I grew up with. One day we will have a road trip to see something neat like this. My daughter is going with us on this trip as well, but the boys will stay with dad for the weekend. They get to have some grandpa time and go fishing. All in all, it should be great for the whole family.

Snow White and the Huntsman

I went to see this movie and absolutely loved it. I am going to buy it as soon as it comes out on DVD. There were a lot of Snow White movies out this year, but this is the only one that remotely interested me.

It was so intense and the characters had some really deep issues. Chris Hemsworth (the huntsman) is the new Hollywood hunk that all the girls are drooling over. I totally recommend this movie to you ladies, you will love it.

Movie matinee

I think I am going to take in a matinee this afternoon. I want to see Resident Evil:Retribution. I am going by myself, as most of my friends don’t really like movies like that. I don’t mind though, I enjoy going to the movies alone. Afterwards I can walk around the mall and do a little shopping without having anyone rush me. I really hate to be rushed.
