Car fix its.

I used to love to work on my own cars and trucks. Even in my teen years, I tinkered with the old vehicles at the farm and tried to get them running. Learning by watching, listening and by a whole lot of trial and error. I still can work on cars and even my old 84 Bronco truck, as long as it’s not got all the computerized stuff in it. If so…I’m screwed. And I happen to have a truck that indeed has the computerized “everything” in it, as I needed a newer vehicle to drive that was super dependable.

It’s hard to find a good honest mechanic who won’t take advantage of a woman. I don’t care what anyone says. Surfing the net I found a great link and these great people there will even do sorts of trouble shooting for your common auto repair and maintenance,  if something is going wrong yet, you don’t know what to do about it, AND don’t want a repair person to tack on all sorts of other charges on things you don’t really need fixed, replaced or messed with. A great source of knowledge, and help. Especially for a woman.

Recently I had a bad experience with a auto repair shop that cost me a small fortune, which is why I decided to click around the net and see what I could find. I don’t mind this being a sponsored post at all, especially when I find a great deal of info and service. 🙂

The Seven Deadly sins.

A friend of mine found this for me, after I had asked her what the 7 deadly sins were, as I couldn’t remember them all. Heck I never have been able to remember them. So I guess this is her way of reminding me. LOL!

The dropping barometer…

I have found that during certain times, when the barometer drops, it messes with my whole body. Today I have a mega headache, and my ears are stuffy. Not to mention feeling a bit sick to my stomach. This has been going on for a long time. I wonder what the weather is to bring next? Considering the weather we’ve been having, as well as other states, it concerns me a great deal.

Moving Day

A friend of mine is going to move, so she went to her local movers to get some information about the dates, and the size of trucks she would need and all of the moving stuff, I have always hated to do over the years when I moved. I personally have always just recruited a bunch of big guys I know, with big pick up trucks, and had a beer and pizza party for all the helpers later, let them camp out and called it a move.

Elise of course, is different than I am. She is so organized it drives me nuts. I swear she even has her thumb tacks in little containers with a sticky tag on them and labeled, buy color code. And this move was going to be a big one, across State. No big burly guys with pick up trucks for her!! Nope, she went and got her first, local moving quotes, then decided to do some more planning. Such as if using the local mover was a good idea. It turns out, she did her planning much better than I thought…or ever would have thought, even knowing her so well. I usually got boxes at the local grocery stores, or the liquor stores because they have great boxes with the bottle separators in them, so I could pack up breakables and not have them clinking together. Then the other belongings I just put in boxes figureing, I have to unpack the stuff, and put it away anyway, so it didn’t matter what when in which box. Elise is not me. While she was getting moving estimates I sort of was folding her towels and sheets, pillowcases and such. But NOT just throwing them in boxes, as she hadn’t come home with the “proper” ones yet. She called and said she was going with the long distance movers, and that she would get back to me. Oh…she did mention not to touch her kitchen…LOL!

My friend came back to her place from getting her moving estimates, she was very please and showed me everything online. Good Lordy, they do everything for you. I don’t know if I’d like a bunch of people packing up my things, but we’ll see how Elise like this smooth move. She is getting excellent rates, I must admit.

A Grand Wedding!

I suppose everyone is blogging about the Royal Wedding. I know people who actually set their alarm clock to get up at 5:30 or earlier to watch it. I myself, got up at about 7:00 like normal, and missed it. Course there are lots of replays, but I have to say that due to the fact that I have been known to love hats, that is what I was looking at. LOL! Okay, I was watching most of the wedding on a replay, and had to love ole Katie’s on ABC,’s  input on the whole thing. Her comments had me in stitches a lot of the time. The wedding though, was indeed classy but not over done, and Kate looked beautiful, and not gaudy, as I don’t think she ever could in anything she wore. I wish them both well.

Disaster

With all the recent tornadoes all over the South, I want to do something, especially for the people of Alabama. I feel all of these families who have lost their loved ones, homes and belongings. I have been trying to contact our local Red Cross here, with no luck what so ever. I had even thought about going down there to try and help any way that I could, and if it hadn’t been for my various jobs I have, I would. I’ve been getting clothes together here, and collecting some clothes from other, hence trying to get a hold of the Red Cross, as sad to say, I don’t trust the Good Will here. I’ll figure out something though. It’s so darn sad and devastating.

New shoes

I’ve decided to take my younger sister out shopping today. She is having a hard time financially, (aren’t we all) but I have saved a little bit of what I call, “shoe money”. She tries so hard to keep up a cheerful front, and I admire her for it. But everyone deserves a bit of pampering. Especially my little sister.

Needing printers ink badly

Okay, so I said I don’t do much on Mondays, but I was sitting here blogging and wanted to check some things out on line about herbs for my garden. Even though it’s raining, I figure it has to stop sometime so  think on the bright side. It’s either make some plans for the garden, or perhaps look up how to build an Ark. Not that I want to take care of all the animals of the world, but hey…I really don’t want to row around, since I don’t know how to row, and just end up going in circles. I found some really great info I wanted to print out, got read to print and found I was out of ink jet cartridges. I hate it with that happens.

I’m tired of paying the costly price of ink at the office supply I go to. It’s unreal. I wanted to see if I could find some cheap ink. Which at the stores around here, is darn near impossible. So, I used my fingers instead of gas and leg work. Online I went once again…surfing instead of rowing at the moment.

I compared lots of online stores that had sold printers ink, but most of them didn’t have the ink I needed for my model of printer, as it is, I must admit a rather old one. Okay, it is really almost obsolete and there for awhile I though I really would have to get a brand new one. I was so happy when I came across a great site, with my brand that I need, at excellent prices…both black and color. I ordered a truck load. LOL! I couldn’t help myself. I love my old printer. I know my dear friend, who has been so faithful to me and helpful over the years. I know, I know…I’m a bit sentimental and also didn’t want to shell out the bucks for a new one right now. 😉

I dislike Mondays!

I don’t know what it is about me and Mondays, but I really dislike them. I seem just to putz around and do basically nothing all day, since I think I’m kind of using this day to get my gear together for the rest of the week. I swear, the only thing I do is catch up on the news, read my email, pay bills and walk around putting things in somewhat of an order around here. Mondays seem like the day to do it, especially with it all rainy, dismal and dreary outside. I really wish the sun would shine.

What a mess!!

My poor girlfriend who lives in Texas called with great (sarcasm inserted) news on her end. She flooded. Not only did the rain they had do it, but one of the pipes in the bathroom sprung a leak that wasn’t tiny. From what she said, it looked like a literal fountain spraying up and as an extra bonus, a mega waterfall, that not only got the bathroom carpet soaked, but also spilled out into her living room.

Now picture this: She has light tan carpet in the bathroom and off white Berber,  in the living room, along with these beautiful oriental rugs that cost her a mint. She also has two cocker spaniels, who are quite rowdy. (to say the least). Like the sometime ditz she is, and I do use that term affectionately, and love her to death, but sometimes she doesn’t think… Especially in a situation where she is totally experiencing a virtual disaster. Okay, so she heard the dogs at the door whining, and yep…let them in. Yes, though the rain had stopped, SHE didn’t stop to think that it might be a bit muddy outside??? LOL! (sure, I can laugh because I no doubt would have done the same thing, as my cocker is the son of hers and he’s my baby).

Imagine two muddy dogs, running around like they are on a pure sugar buzz, on a already soaked carpet and rugs. The way she was telling me this, had me laughing hysterically, because she has this deep Texan accent and when she has a story to tell or something major happening, she barely stops to take a breath, and tells it in total minute detail. Long story, (believe me) short,  apparently the mud from the dogs, mixed in with the water on the floors had turned a deep gray and brown. Ick! She told me about calling a place named Carpet cleaning Marble Falls, then said “I love you” and just…hung up. I sat there with the phone in my hand, looking at it, and shaking my head. She of course loves her carpet, so apparently she knows a place that will help with this disaster. I’m waiting to hear back from her. LOL!
