I rarely get headaches, but I came down with a migraine yesterday, to beat all headaches. I’ve heard of people getting them, but never have had one, and truth be known, I so very much feel for folks that have these type of headaches on a consistent basis. I tried some herbal remedies that seemed to help a bit, but I also turned off all the noise in the house, hung blankets on my bedroom windows and suffered through it all. My poor dogs knew something was wrong and tried to “help” by kissing and trying to do the dog hug thing. Bless their little animal hearts. I slept for about 13 hours, and am feeling better now, but I never ever want to experience this again. Ouch!
A great place for plants!
Awhile back I was thinking about how I have been running out of room for all my plants and flowers and also that my house needed some kind of sort of finishing touches. I decided to check out some window boxes. I’m not sure if I’m going to get anymore, as I do indeed have a few, but it was cool checking them out along with all the other various containers to plant in. I do however have to, or actually want to have more space for my living friends.
While browsing I did come across some items I really liked. I loved the idea of garden window boxes, that I actually thought I could plant my herbs in, that seemed to be actually becoming a ground cover in my garden. I thought that they would look nice trailing out of the box itself, and also thought about adding some smaller flowers in with the herbs.
Since I already have a few window flower boxes, I looked at those to see if I could find some that matched. And even if I couldn’t, who cares? I could mix and match them evenly to make a unique look and since it’s my house and what I like, who cares if there might be questions about why I didn’t have boxes that didn’t exactly match one another. I’m not into the normal things like some picky gardeners are. Next spring the neighbors will no doubt be looking over here to see what I am going to add next to my gardens and they may be surprised at what they see!!
RIP My Dear Friend, Lisa.
My best friend Lisa passed on three years ago today. I thought it might get easier to handle as time went on, but it really hasn’t. She was the Thelma to my Louise and vice versa, (or what ever the work or term actually is) depending on the day. We had so many great times together and some not so great, but through thick and thin we were the best of friends. She still is missed and thought of a great deal. So with that said… I love you Lisa and you are in deed missed by me and your children, but you would be so proud of them.
The hot weather I asked for!
Well, I have to say that I am finally getting the hot and humid weather I have asked for. While everyone is complaining about the heat and the humidity and my dogs are moping around looking for a cool place to hang out, I’m in seventh heaven knowing that this won’t last as long as I would like it to. In the mean time, I’ve put out water with ice for the animals, give them special cool dishes that they will eat, instead of dog food and I remember how much I hate the cold winters here and that I am miserable though them. Actually with the ceiling fans going and the box and floor fans on, it’s really not too bad in the house. I hear people who complained about the cold all winter now complaining about the heat we are having now. It never ceases to amaze me when I hear this. Me? I’m just enjoying it all.
New neck art
A new tattoo!
Yes folks, I tend to like skin illustrations, as sometimes they are called. They say that tattoo’s are habit forming and I am here to tell you that they are. A friend of mine is visiting from Oregon and owns three tattoo shops there. He is good at his “craft” and a wonderful artist. I figure if I’m to get another one, I would rather have him tattoo me, since I trust him fully and have watched him in action, so to speak. So, the time as come for another one. Once it is done, I will post a photo. I’m thinking about getting something on the Celtic side, with maybe a rose or something inked in. We will see. I’ve been kicking it around for a long time, so I won’t regret it later on. I can’t wait to visit with my friend also. We haven’t seen one another in a very long time. It should be a great visit, and I’m really looking forward to it. 🙂
A unique gift!
My youngest sister bought a new home after living in her previous home for about four years. I wanted to get her a gift, but not something that she already had or one of those run of the mill gifts that everyone seems to give for lack of imagination. I visited her new house and saw that she had a lot of stainless steel items that were really shiny, clean looking and modern, in the house. I personally think the things would be rather hard to keep finger proofed, but she assured me that it wasn’t hard at all and even showed me this cleaning that she had, so it set my mind to working. Once home I got on the internet and let my fingers start shopping, or at least “look shopping”, and I came across some great items, including a very shiny stainless steel letter box, but nixed that idea, as I had noticed that she had a mail box in the shape of a little barn that I new she loved.
The home does have a really awesome fireplace, so I checked out the Blomus four piece stainless steel fireplace accessories. Now these, I thought were really cool looking, as I could imagine when a fire was going in the fireplace, they would sparkle and shine and well…look pretty awesome. I of course bookmarked that page to go back to later, in case I didn’t find anything else I wanted to get her. It totally amazed me how many really awesome items came in stainless steel and it was hard for me to decide exactly what I wanted to get her, that I knew she wouldn’t have or get from others.
Finally I settled on the stainless steel garden torch bowl. No one ever said I bought ordinary gifts, and I would absolutely love one of these for myself. They are a bit pricey, but my sister is worth it, and from what I have read, they are durable and also very pretty. My sister loves outdoor torches and table lights, so I am hoping that she will love this as much as I do. Maybe with my next pay check, I might splurge and get a couple for myself. I could call it a early birthday present!! 🙂
Swimming season
I just love to swim. I don’t care if it is in a lake, beach or pool, so long as I can immerse myself in the water and have fun. There is also the added fun of shopping for a new bathing suit. I think I will go to the lake this weekend and relax in and by the water. Perhaps I can get some friends together for a nice little BBQ and some Volley Ball. Now that sounds like a lot of fun ! Ok then, time to go into the planning stage and make some phone calls. Have a nice rest of the week. Two more days till Friday and the fun begins. =)
A cold spell?
After having 100 degree weather for a few days, it feels downright chilly out today. The sun is shining and most people would think this is “perfect weather”…to me it’s cold. I admit that those high heat days were humid and it made things a bit sticky. Never ever try grooming and clipping a long haired dog in that kind of weather. Heed my advice. It sticks to you all over, and even after a shower I felt like I had dog hair on me. LOL!
Movies at home
I’ve been thinking about checking into Direct TV packages for the movies mostly. I don’t watch much television since I really don’t have time, but when I see clips of movies that are out now, and I find them interesting or they are ones that I want to see, I’d like to be able to kick back at home and watch them. I’m not happy with the service I have right now, so I indeed do what to check this out.
While watching the news the other night, it totally blew me away at how many break ins, robberies, and other crimes there are because of security reasons. My friend Diane’s home had gotten vandalized and broken into three times and the landlord refused to put in any security precautions or let her even pay and have it put in herself. So she moved. She then immediately had home security sierravista installed and now has peace of mind when she goes out or even while she is at home.
I don’t live in a bad neighborhood, but I’d like to get a new television to watch my movies on, so an alarm system is definitely in order. Because of where I park, people can’t tell if I’m home or not and when I’m watching a movie I like I get really engrossed in it, so unless the dog barks, I don’t know if anyone is around the house. He indeed is a great, matter of fact, and awesome little watch dog and protector but that isn’t enough for me now with the crime rate the way it is.
