After having 100 degree weather for a few days, it feels downright chilly out today. The sun is shining and most people would think this is “perfect weather”…to me it’s cold. I admit that those high heat days were humid and it made things a bit sticky. Never ever try grooming and clipping a long haired dog in that kind of weather. Heed my advice. It sticks to you all over, and even after a shower I felt like I had dog hair on me. LOL!
Movies at home
I’ve been thinking about checking into Direct TV packages for the movies mostly. I don’t watch much television since I really don’t have time, but when I see clips of movies that are out now, and I find them interesting or they are ones that I want to see, I’d like to be able to kick back at home and watch them. I’m not happy with the service I have right now, so I indeed do what to check this out.
While watching the news the other night, it totally blew me away at how many break ins, robberies, and other crimes there are because of security reasons. My friend Diane’s home had gotten vandalized and broken into three times and the landlord refused to put in any security precautions or let her even pay and have it put in herself. So she moved. She then immediately had home security sierravista installed and now has peace of mind when she goes out or even while she is at home.
I don’t live in a bad neighborhood, but I’d like to get a new television to watch my movies on, so an alarm system is definitely in order. Because of where I park, people can’t tell if I’m home or not and when I’m watching a movie I like I get really engrossed in it, so unless the dog barks, I don’t know if anyone is around the house. He indeed is a great, matter of fact, and awesome little watch dog and protector but that isn’t enough for me now with the crime rate the way it is.
Short weekend.
This weekend went so fast. It seems like I got nothing at all accomplished that I wanted to do and there was quite a list. Tomorrow back to the old grind and to be honest, I’m not looking forward to it. I’ve seriously been thinking about taking a vacation from everything. Working, writing, talking on the phone…just everything. It’s so tempting. We’ll see what happens.
A very good book.
I know most every one has heard of the movie with Julia Roberts in it, called Eat, Pray, Love. Well, I saw the movie and didn’t think it was very good. Then I got the book. To me, books are always better than the movie. I was right about this one. I literally did not want to put it down. If I were a book critic I would give it a five star rating. Do yourself a favor and read it. I can’t begin to tell you all how much I got out of it personally.
Grow little seeds!
I planted zinnia’s, hyacinth beans, poppies and some other plants today. Hopefully they will take. Haven’t even begun to start my straw bale garden yet. Work work and more work and not enough time to play in the dirt, like I so want to do. The weather is going from storms and chilly, to what seems now like a drought. Today it got up to 101 degrees outside. I can’t believe with all the rain we had that the ground is cracking now.
Scary storms!
We had a really bad storm come through, along with a tornado. It could have been a lot worse, like it has been in other states though. Just going out and looking at the trees down, and whole roads blocked off with debris and even telephone lines and whole poles laying down in the fields was scary to see. I feel blessed that we didn’t get hit worse. And it’s only the beginning of summer.
Muddy floors.
Okay, after a week of rain with no respite in sight, I’m really tired of cleaning up muddy floors. I have a big HUGH welcome mat outside the door. And on the inside in the foyer, I have a big wipe your feet rug, along with a basket of soft footie socks for people to put on if they want them. All sizes. All I ask is, take the damn shoes off at the door. I even have a nice wooden and painted sign that asks nicely to do so. Do people do this? Very few. So…I’m sort of on the verge of not answering my door anymore. Or at least until some people get the hint. Okay…rant is over. For now. 😉
Sooo much happening.
This is the time of year that I dread, but also it’s bittersweet. With a lot of my nieces and nephews graduating, plus my friends getting married. I keep telling myself to just send money and get out of Dodge. Wonder if that would work?
End of the world?
I highly doubt it, but people are really going a bit nuts about this. Okay, a bit is rather an understatement. It’s crazy. I woke up this morning and turned on the news while I was drinking my coffee and all the channels kept giving news coverage on the Rapture. To be honest, I stopped watching a lot of news quite some time ago, because it depresses the living he** out of me. No pun intended nor would I ever get snip about stuff like that, since I am a believer in God, Angels and Saints. Still…come on people. NO ONE can predict when the end is going to come. Not down to the very last minute like it’s being said. Pardon me for being skeptical, but I am! I’m going to 4:30 mass like I usually do on Saturdays, and then come home, grab a glass of wine and my only cigarette of the day, kick back and watch the world go by. (Pun intended here) I figure when the Big Guy wants us, then it’ll be on HIS time. Not on someone else’s predictions.
Going to take it easy!
This week has been so hectic and wild. So much to do and so little time, that it seems I didn’t stop for a breather once and I indeed missed out on some much needed sleep. This evening I think I’m going to make a light supper, read a book that a fellow blog pal has recommended and just take it easy. As for the rest of the weekend, I do have to run a few errands but it won’t be at a hectic pace. My body is telling me I need to take a break for a bit. Even if it is only for a day or two. I have to admit I’ve been a touch snippy at people and this isn’t good. So, the plan is to just kick back.
