Lately the leaves have been falling off my maple tree at an incredible rate of speed. I had them raked, but to do something one wants done, I have discovered not to hire some one to do it for me. What a total mess. Now I’m going to have to rake all over again and then burn the leaves in my drive way. Never again will I hire someone who can’t follow simple instructions.
My own arcade machine
One of my most favorite games to play has always been the Pacman arcade machine. I love it! Years ago, when I had to do my laundry at the laundry mat, there was one of the machines there. I swear more quarters went into that machine playing pacman, than went into the washers and dryers. I actually looked forward to doing my laundry on the weekends so I could play that game. The regular customers that always were there at the same time as I was, would actually get off the game so I could play it. We even would have competitions to see who’s score would be the highest.
After I moved and got a washer and dryer, I really missed playing the Pacman arcade machine, since I don’t play any other games often. My nephews told me that I could play pacman online and they even would rent the game for me to try and play with the hand held controllers, but I never could get the hang of which button to push when, or how to use a joy stick that some of their game machines called for.
I’ve decided that since I have an extra room, that I might just buy myself my very own Packman arcade machine. I know I really would enjoy playing it, and my nephews would love it if I had one also. So, I’m indeed thinking about it.
Catching up on my shows
With all that has been happening here and me working so much, I miss the shows that I like to watch. I have Xfinity which runs most of my television programs I like to watch, even though I have to wait a day or two before they update them so I can watch the episodes I missed. I have a feeling it’s going to be a pretty good weekend.
Waiting for the weekend
With the weekend nearly here, I’m looking forward to putting my flower beds to “sleep” for the winter and raking all the leaves that have fallen in the yard. The weather is supposed to be warmer and sunny. I hope it is, since I really would like to get this done and enjoy doing these kind of things. It’s sort of bittersweet though, since it seems we hardly had a summer and now winter is nearly upon us.
It’s confirmed
I have one heck of a case of strep throat. Wonderful. Perhaps from standing out in the cold handing out candy to exactly 12 kids that came to the house for trick or treating? It was such a sad turn out. I ended up giving the kids hand fulls of candy and telling them to come back around if they wanted. They were happy, though.
Happy Halloween
Actually it’s miserable outside. Poor kids. I did however get plenty of candy and am hoping for the best. I’m not in the spirit this year. Usually I dress up…of course as a not scary witch, and love handing out candy. Guess with the blahs.. I just don’t feel like it.
Cleaning greasy messes
It is time to clean out the grill and put it up for the winter and I found that I had to go on a hunt for perfect degreasers. I also realized that I am a really sloppy grill cooker, even though I don’t mean to be. I use tin foil most of the time for my vegetables and some other things, like stuffed tomatoes with tuna, which is easy to just to wrap in tinfoil and slap on the grill.
Actually in the summer, I grill more that I cook in my kitchen. I like being outside. I also love my patio and the fact that in the summer, I don’t have to stand in a hot kitchen. But like I said, I am a messy grill cook. I noticed that grease had splattered from off the grill or my grilling utensils, onto my patio stone and that regular degreasers were not got to get it all off.
A friend of mine suggested that I use industrial strength degreasers on the stone patio “floor” as I call it. I was kind of leery at first, but when I did indeed use it, and was careful following the instructions, it worked like a charm. I’m even thinking about keeping my grill covered but also available on the patio if I want to grill in the winter!
Finally the phone stopped ringing
Of course it is nearly about 12:45 in the morning, and the phone isn’t ringing, but hopefully I just didn’t jinx myself by writing this. All night the phone rang non stop. From wedding plans to sadly (or maybe not sadly, in my opinion) divorce woes, or friends needing advice. Maybe I should be a wedding planner or a shrink when I grow up. Okay, just trying to lighten it up a bit. It’s one of those nights that I can’t sleep and I’m glad I don’t have to get super early in the morning.
Tired but not sleepy
I’m tired, but not sleepy and that bugs me. When I’m tired I want to go to sleep right then, but can’t. It’s better to stay up for awhile then toss and turn though, I suppose. Writing makes me sleepy, so guess ya’ll are stuck with me. LOL!
Darn change of weather
Wouldn’t you know, the weather changes and I get another cold. My doctor advised against me getting a flu shot this year, because it didn’t work well for me last year. I’m going to make some chicken soup then curl up in cozy jammies after I Vick’s down, and watch a movie. So much for a hot date on a Friday night…LOL!
