After having my nephews over for the weekend, I do believe one of them no doubt gave me a bit of a flu bug. My sister warned me that two of her boys were getting over colds, but I didn’t think I would catch anything. So much for that thought. I have a feeling by tonight, it’s going to be full blown.
Car shipping and transporting
At Thanksgiving my oldest nephew who lives across country, told us that he was moving back to our state, and was looking into auto shipping for his “Baby” which is a 1955 Corvette. He told us that since he doesn’t trust anyone to drive it, and he has his every day car to bring home also, that he was considering having the Corvette shipped to his new home here in our state. I thought that it was a bit much, why not just put it on a trailer and haul it, right? Well, apparently what he is looking into is safer, actually less expensive than a trailer and all of the details that go with it, and he could trust that his car would get to him safely.
He even said that the company he was considering had car reviews for anyone who might want to buy a car or truck from out of state, or just about anywhere for that matter, and have it shipped to them. I guess sometimes a person can find exactly what they are looking for in the reviews that are less expensive than shopping for a vehicle here, and then it can be shipped to them. This is something I didn’t know.
I’m really happy about my nephew moving close to home, and it sounds like he’s done his so called homework on how to get his precious car home to him, without having another detail to fret about. Who knows? If I sweet talk him a lot, and bribe him once his “Baby” gets here…he might let me take her for a spin!
Ahh, quiet for a time
I’ve had my sister’s boys for the weekend and must say, I’m not sure how my dear sisters can handle the sheer energy of them! Wow!! Don’t get me wrong, I love them dearly and we had fun, but I found I did not really sit still for longer than it took to eat sandwiches and soup in the middle of the living room on my coffee table last night. We dragged out all the pillows I had in the house, and ate in front of the television. After that, I think I wore them out. They are still asleep and it’s nice to drink my coffee in silence for another hour or so!
Fun with the guys
After this long weekend, I thought that I was going to take advantage of the weekend and do nothing. A phone call from my sister changed all that. I have the three boys for the next two days. I’m sure we can find something interesting to do. At least I won’t have to play dress up and fashion show, like I usually do with my nieces. Though fun ( in it’s own time ) we usually end up trashing my bedroom, bathroom and generally the house. With the boys, blanket tents and inside camping out, is not as messy. Guy movie are always cool too!
Long week
It’s only Wednesday and it seems this week has been just dragging by. It’s not that I haven’t been busy, because indeed I have. I think the time change is making it seem like the days just should be ending sooner. Maybe it’s just me. Who knows? I can’t wait for the weekend though. No plans…chilllaxing! 🙂
Air soft guns look like the real thing
Okay, my nephews came over last weekend with and air soft gun. I was totally taken back a bit because of the gun. Now, I try to be a “Cool Auntie”, but had to draw a line somewhere, since these guns totally are very neat, but come on…seriously they look very real. In my town, if anyone had one in their possession, they would get checked out to the max for carrying a weapon. Actually I have to say that I was impressed with the likeness of a real sort of assault gun, but hey… these are my nephews so I wasn’t sure how to handle the situation.
Okay, I hit plan B. I called my little brother, to ask about air soft guns. He is a hunter and is into guns of all kinds. He said these were safe and that I should go out and play with the kids. I took his word for it. Have to say that indeed it didn’t hurt much getting shot at by these and quite frankly I had to also admit that they are much safer than even BB guns. Still, like any weapon, of any sort, they still can harm someone if not aimed properly.
The boys had a great time though, and I did after keeping an open mind, let them go for it with their air soft guns. I’m actually thinking about getting one for myself, just so I can play with the boys. To be honest, there is a lot of equipment that goes with them also that is really cool.
Bell ringers already
This is getting a bit far fetched. I went shopping today and at every store entrance and exit there were the bell ringers for Good Will or Salvation Army dressed up like flipping Santa, or standing outside the store freezing their butts off. I hate not giving, but this is too much. I give some at CHRISTMAS. Yet it isn’t even Thanksgiving yet. I can’t afford to shell out money like that. And also I’ve noticed that these people get really pissed off if they don’t get a donation.
Leaves are nearly all gone
Lately the leaves have been falling off my maple tree at an incredible rate of speed. I had them raked, but to do something one wants done, I have discovered not to hire some one to do it for me. What a total mess. Now I’m going to have to rake all over again and then burn the leaves in my drive way. Never again will I hire someone who can’t follow simple instructions.
Moving into a new place
Guest post of the week by Deangelo Spencer
When I moved into my new place I was really excited to get it all fixed up. I wanted to get totally new curtains and floors for the main rooms and I knew I had to have all the bathrooms retiled. I just wasn’t sure what to do about the Satellite Star Internet and the security system…did I need them both? Well, I sprang for them and now I’m really glad – turns out it’s all the extra technology here that really makes me love this house. I had no idea how much I would use the surround sound or the intercom system but they’re things I deal with every day and I love it! I wouldn’t have it any other way and I can thank my brother Ted for encouraging me to go totally high-tech with this place. Being a homeowner is tough, that’s for sure, but there’s something about knowing it’s my house and I can do whatever I want with it that really gets me excited. It feels so adult!
