Wouldn’t you know, the weather changes and I get another cold. My doctor advised against me getting a flu shot this year, because it didn’t work well for me last year. I’m going to make some chicken soup then curl up in cozy jammies after I Vick’s down, and watch a movie. So much for a hot date on a Friday night…LOL!
A gift for my very large man friend
My friend Steven will turn fifty soon and I wanted to get him a gift that I know he will be pleased with. The problem is, that I was having a problem finding a store that sells big and tall mens clothing. There is a shopping mall in a large town close to me, and one would think out of all the higher priced clothing stores, or the more pricey department stores there, I could find a shirt or pair of pants that would look great on Steven and would actually fit him. I couldn’t find anything near his size.
My dear friend used to be a wrestler in what was called the WWF (World Wrestling Federation) back years ago when I first met him. He is retired now, and still by no means is he overweight in anyway, as he works out every day and is very health conscious. He is just very tall and very big. But he also has problems finding big and tall mens clothing for himself. He is a great looking guy who deserves nice looking clothes that actually fit him.
Another friend of mine knew of my problem and told me to get online to find what I was looking for. To be honest I never even thought of it, since most clothing stores always carried what I was looking for. So I went to my computer for my mission to find big and tall mens clothing. I found some awesome clothes! I like them so much I got into my extra gift money and bought him a polo shirt, two flannel shirts I know he’ll love, and a pair of great looking cargo pants that he favors. I can’t wait until his birthday to give them to him. I know now he indeed will be pleased!!
I don’t do Mondays
I really don’t like Mondays lately. Mondays never used to bother me until about a year ago. Maybe it’s because of getting older or something. I feel pretty blah this morning and it seems like my body does not want to get up so early to start doing the things I have to do today. I feel like just getting back into bed and going back to sleep, but then I no doubt wouldn’t because the lazy guilt’s would kick in, and I’d not be able to sleep anyway. Time to start the week.
A new camera
My favorite camera, an older Pentax, stopped working and I’m really bummed out about it. It looks like I’m going to have to break down and buy another camera this week. I carried the Pentax around with me where ever I went so I wouldn’t miss a cool or beautiful shot for a picture. I can honestly say, I don’t like digital cameras because of the hesitation right before clicking a photo. I’ve missed so many really good moments.
Great bedding
I have an over sized bed for the guest room, so I let my fingers do the shopping on the internet for bedding sets. We don’t have any stores around here or at least close to my home, that carry the bigger bedding, and believe me that I was getting rather discouraged going from store to store to try and find what I was looking for in the stores we do have.
With a antique bed the size I have, it’s rather hard to find bigger bedding sets that are the look and style that I wanted. After about five hours of shopping, I decided to go online. I’ve sort of become a fan of online shopping lately. This site I found even was much less expensive than the bedding I had looked at in the stores I went to, and I was really thrilled to find what I was looking for to use on the bed in the guest room.
Once I hung the wall paper yesterday after having the new carpet installed, I did find the perfect bedding sets for not only the guest room, but also my own bed since I saved a lot of money. All I need to do now is paint the trim, put up the bed and arrange furniture. I’ll add the accents and I do believe I’m going to be happy with the results!
Wall paper decisions
We have this great place in town that sells wallpaper and carpet. I sort of went a bit overboard and spent more money than I maybe should have, but (shrug) I want this room to be comfortable and inviting. It’s not going to be girly, since I have lots of guy friends also, but it will be sort of a mix. At least that is my plan, so I bought wall paper that would be neutral. It’s still nice though and I’ll figure out the boarder once I go shopping for paint and bedding and such. I have a antique dresser and bed, plus some other things out of storage, so now I’m working with those also. I’m so happy when I do these kind of projects. 🙂 Good thing is, I do believe even though I spent more money than planned, I still saved a lot due to the specials that the store had!
A new bedroom
I’ve decided to change my spare room into a guest room and I’m rather excited about shopping for the wall paper, paint and all of the items to make it cozy and guest worthy. I have a lot of things to pack up and put in the attic, since I sort of used that room as a storage space. It doesn’t bother me though, lots of things can be donated to various places, and then what I want to keep can be stored. I love to do home decorating and home improvement, so this project will be fun. Redecorating is great!
T-shirts for a cause
My niece is into donating blood for people who need it, and she called me and asked if I would please help to find her, or at least look into finding some custom t-shirts for not only donating blood, but also for various cancers and other causes she is involved with. I have to say, that where I live there is no place that I am able to grant her request, so I had to do some online searching.
Custom t-shirts for her causes are important to me. My niece is so dedicated that I really admire her and when she does her walks and supports what she believes in, I indeed want to help her. While looking online, I also found that I could have shirts made up that I would like to distribute and also tell people where they could get them, considering the fact that the nearest big city from where we live is an hour and a half away, that has any shops that we could get these shirts from.
Of course because I wanted to help my niece, I went online. The custom t-shirts I found, not only could be made to pertain to her causes that she is interested in helping, but also the wording can be basically anything that a person would wish to put on a shirt. I like this idea, since I can also buy shirts that can be worn with my niece’s and nephew’s sports and activities to show support to them, or for the fact that I am proud of what they are involved in. I can also have the shirts made up as special gifts, at a great price.
What a blast
Seems I didn’t have to take off work for the apple festival at all. I got off work a bit early, picked up the kids from their schools and we came to my house, I had them do the weekend homework they had no argument at all, which was a plus. After that, since I knew there would be plenty of food at the festival, we took off. It was great since it was warm enough out that I just had the boys bring hoodies, in case it did get cooler out. We had a blast. There was a pumpkin carving contest, saw how cider was made, drank cider, there was a hay ride and all kinds of other great things to do. I have to admit that this year was the best apple festival I’ve ever been to here. Of course the kids got a bellyache from drinking so much cider and eating the caramel apples and other food, but they didn’t complain. I’m sure I’ll hear it from my sisters…LOL! Oh well, that is what Aunties do, right? Spoil the kids! 😉
Apple festival
Every year a local orchard has a really great apple festival. I’ve made plans to take my nephews to it with me. The weather has been totally beautiful, and it’s supposed to be for the next week, especially the weekend… high of 80 degrees, but breezy. It won’t be to warm for the kids to be tromping through the orchards, going on hay rides and their favorite…eating caramel apples, drinking cider and having a blast with the activities that they participate in every year there. I’m really looking forward to going to this so much that I’ve taken off work. Oh, it’s cool with my boss, she is going also. This is a great event around here for both kids and adults.
