Cap the well!!

Despite the promises of oil giant BP to cap the well, the oil is still gushing into the Gulf of Mexico at an astonishing rate. Once again we hear that they are trying another method to stop the flow. This time, they plan to pump heavy mud into the wellhead to plug the wellhead. There are millions of people who are hoping this plan will work.

Bp has said it is unsure whether the plan will work or not. Since the leak is over a mile deep, there are no methods of capping the well that are proven. In the meantime, wildlife is suffering from the estimated 7 million gallons of oil that has escaped from the broken well. I surly hope that BP will find an answer to the problem soon!

Overcoming Difficulties

Life is full of difficult times. My daughter is going through one of them at school. She recently entered college and has been doing well. Everything was going fine until she ran into the subject of statistics. It seems that no matter how hard she tries, she cannot master the material. Since I was unable to help her, we knew we had to find another method of helping her out.

She started going to a tutor at school. That worked out well for a while, but the problem was that it was hard for her to set up a time that was convenient for her. Transportation to the center was another problem. Luckily, I found a site online where she could get the Statistics tutor she needed. The site is called tutorvista.com and it has been the answer we were looking for.

Since she started taking advantage of the service, she has been receiving the Statistics help she has been longing for. It is easy and fits her schedule as it is available all day and at night too. She is no longer afraid to take on even the toughest Statistics problems and has been outperforming her classmates. It’s good to know that my daughter is going to succeed in school thanks to the internet!

Big Losses

The government announced that they expect taxpayers will take a huge loss on the money lent to Chrysler and General Motors. The losses could run as high as $34 billion dollars. Auditors say they have recouped some of the money lent to the corporations, but much of the money will be lost.

The government still has a stake in the companies as it owns about 10 % of Chrysler and about 61% of GM. These shares will be sold when the companies conduct a public stock offering in the future. I sure hope the auctions go well!!

Mishaps

Traveling comes with the territory when you have a job description such as mine. I go all around the country in order to visit our offices and major clients. Since I have spent so much time on the road, it’s no wonder that I’ve had my share of breakdowns and car troubles. As usual, it always happens when it’s most inconvenient and unsuspected.

On one of my recent trips, I was lucky to have access to a pretty nice vehicle. My company gave me a Chevrolet Silverado to test out on the road. I really liked it as it was versatile and comfortable to drive. The only bad part was that I noticed a problem while going through Texas and had to stop. I found a Dallas auto repair shop and waited while they found the problem.

It turns out that all I needed was a brake job. It only took a few hours and then I was back on the road. I felt fortunate that there were no major problems and I could be on my way. I still managed to get to my meeting and concluded all my business. I think these little mishaps happen all the time and you had better get used to it if you’re on the road a lot!

Food for thought

We all know that men and women are different. So it follows that different foods are better for men and some are better for women. I found a small list that may help you decide which foods are for you. We’ll start with the men. Oysters are very good for men. They contain zinc which is good for the reproductive system. Tomatoes are also a wise choice of food for men. It helps lower the risk of prostate cancer.

The women have their own foods to eat. Papaya is a good way to start. It has a lot of vitamin c that helps protect against gallbladder disease. If breast cancer is a worry for you, Flaxseed may be the answer. Tofu is high in soy protein that can strengthen the bones. Others foods are Collard Greens, Peanut Butter and watermelon. Have fun with the eats!!

Making a decision

One of my passions is cars and trucks. I’ve always loved looking at the latest models and dreamed about owning the older ones as well. That’s why I was glad to help out my friend Dan when he wanted to purchase a new vehicle. We went online in order to do a little research on the subject. The first thing we wanted to do was to find out about the ford flex. Dan had been talking about it and wanted to know more.

The Flex would be a great family vehicle. There would be room for everyone and all their gear. It is a very safe vehicle and that was important to Dan as well. We decided to keep looking because Dan wanted to weigh all his options. Dan really wanted a car just for him. We thought the scion tc was really cool and would be a great car for him to run around in.

We continued to look around and found a couple of other vehicles he liked. One was the subaru wrx. This car has a lot of horsepower for its size and is real eye candy. I really liked the wing on the back of it. Dan also does a lot of work. He’s always picking stuff up and thought a dodge dakota pickup truck would suit him well. Whatever he chooses, I am sure he will be happy with the results.

Malaysian Speed

It seems that there are many in Malaysia who enjoy going fast. People known as Mat Rempits race their supped up cars and motorcycles all along the nation’s streets. Some of these people are users of drugs and alcohol as well. This has caused many accidents and has citizens upset with the situation. A unique answer has been found to the problem.

Authorities have announced that they will build a 3 million dollar race circuit in Kelantan for the racers to use. They hope that this will provide a place for the racers to race their cars and bikes safely. I think it’s a great idea and hope it will work!

Economic impact

The huge spill that looms just off the coast has many worried about their economic future. The oil threatens to shut down dozens of industries that provide a living for thousands of people. Restaurants, fisherman, and the tourism industry could all be shut down, some of them for many years to come.

Louisiana produces oysters, shrimp, crabs, and crawfish. All these seafood industries could face major interruptions and be damaged for years. Many people are scared about what to do as their incomes are threatened. I sure hope BP will hurry up and fix the mess they made!!

Bomb Scare

The city of New York has once again become a target of a bomber. Police believe that a man in his late 40s parked a car in Times Square that was filled with explosives. Police say they found an SUV filled with such items as fireworks, propane tanks, and two 5-gallon gasoline tanks. The items were intended to be set off with two clocks.

So far the police have an unknown suspect and they are checking for leads to crack the case. The motive for the failed attack is unknown. A local vendor tipped police off about the car and probably saved many lives by doing so. Let’s hope they find this person soon!
