Be a trucker

When I was young back in the 70’s it was always a cool thing to be a trucker. We watched all the trucking shows on TV like Convoy and Smokey and the bandit. My brothers and I would always hang out the windows of our car and pump our arms at a trucker trying to encourage him into honking the horn.

Nowadays, truckers are more in demand than ever. The problem is that not too many people actually want to be a trucker anymore. Living on the road is difficult and getting the proper licenses is time-consuming and expensive. I think that for the right person though, it could be a great career move. Give it some thought.

Green business

There are many areas of the economy that are not performing all that well. We all know that. The good news is that some areas of the economy are doing very well. Those who are smart and who get in on the ground floor of these businesses will have a bright future. That’s why I made a suggestion to my next door neighbors son Charlie that he should think about getting some training and starting his own business.

One area of business that is really taking off is green technology in homes. People want lower heating and air bills and are willing to pay for it. The government provides many tax incentives in many cases and it’s good for our environment. Many people are now looking to starting a home energy audit franchise. This is a golden opportunity for those who are willing to learn about it.

The internet will be the backbone of these new businesses and there are people who can help you get started. You can find training as well as marketing home improvement business plans. They can provide the knowledge and experience needed for contractors websites marketing. I think Charlie will be glad I mentioned this to him and I wish him the best in his new career.

Should the penny stay or go

Many Americans have different opinions on whether the penny should stay or go. The Canadians are in the process of eliminating their penny because it costs too much to make. It costs about a penny and a half to make each penny.

Americans are a little different breed though and feelings for the penny run high. We are basically a nostalgic people and we love that Lincoln’s head is on the penny. We will have to see how this plays out.

Things that are old

Every once in a while, people find things that are old that they believe are worth money. Some of these things are valuable and sometimes they are not. It just depends on what the item is and how well it has survived over the years. I had a sewing machine from 1892 that I thought was very valuable. It turned out that it was not.

Other things like comic books and games can be very valuable especially if they are the right kind. Condition is always a concern but in the end there are many things worth money. The moral of the story is that you need to check the worth of an old item before you throw it out.

New on the Field

The baseball fields were slammed on a spring Saturday morning. The moms were gathering in regular fashion with packed coolers ready to watch the tournaments all day. It was a gorgeous day and a great time to catch up with my “mom” friends. We had a new mom in the group who was new to the area as well. I quickly befriended her and learned her move had not been a simple one and now that she had settled in, she was ready to get some advice on the things she could change. One of which was her electricity provider. Giant fish sales

The Japanese have been well known for their love of fish. This is especially true when it comes to the taste of tuna. They have proven their love of tuna when a Japanese businessman paid a record price of $ 750,000 dollars for a prized blue fin tuna. He plans to sell the fish to the customers at his restaurant.

The tuna weighed in at a weight of 592 pounds. The owner of the fish says it is perfect with just the right amount of fat and that the color is very good. I guess time will tell and we will see whether or not the tuna pays off.

Great ideas

There are many opportunities in life when you are trying to make money. A friend of mine is trying to do this and he is making good money. He started a webpage to try and sell fishing lures and he was getting nowhere. That’s when he discovered a new way to get the word out about his website. Small Business

Small business owners across the country are hurting, it’s not just me, but these times are tougher than I’ve ever seen in the last 30 years I’ve been doing this. We’re just not as busy as we’ve been in years past but that’s given me an opportunity to really try hard to make this business better and more efficient for when things do pick back up. Help is needed

The news out of Washington is not good. Today the white house announced that nearly one out of every two Americans are living from week to week and are being classified as low-income. Those without jobs are being hit hardest. It’s been years in the making but now it is true.

Senators and congressmen are busy blaming each other. That leaves the American people with a huge problem. What will happen to those who have some kind of mishap in their lives that will put them over the edge? I hope that congress and regular Americans will wake up and start to deal with this problem.

I am a firm believer in investing in the stock market. There is a lot of money to be made there and anyone can do it. That is, anyone with some serious money to spend.
