Recycle

I was glad to see that the local kids around my house are learning a good lesson. It seems that a bunch of them have gotten together and are cleaning up the neighborhood. They plan to take the cans they find to the recycling center and get some money for their efforts. I am all for this type of thing!

I believe that our country would be much better off if everyone did a little more in the recycling department. It’s good to know that the next generation is more aware of the problem and willing to find solutions. I believe there is some hope for this world yet!!

Another Exxon Valdez?

About a month ago, President Barack Obama lifted the ban on offshore drilling. This has opened up the coastlines of America to a new threat. This threat includes incidents like the one that happened a few days ago and is still in progress. An oil rig exploded and burned for days before it finally sank. The possibility that thousands of gallons of oil are seeping into the sea is very real.

The Gulf of Mexico has been a major site of oil exploration. One deepwater oil platform named the Deepwater Horizon exploded and killed 11 workers. The problem is that the environmental impact is still unknown. Crude oil could be contaminating the Gulf and will cause havoc if it reaches the shore. I hope the president will review the safety measures that are in place and strengthen them!

April Fools’

Today is the day! Everyone knows that April Fools’ Day is here. That means we must all be weary of any tricks that may be played on us. I think it’s one of the funniest holidays we celebrate here in America. I recently heard about a prank that I am going to try this year.

One thing that everyone has in common is a love for free money. I am going to take some quarters and superglue them to the pavement just outside of the door to our office. I know that many of my employees will try to pick them up be left wondering why they cannot do so!! I can’t to see the results!
