Sitcoms and Other Comedy TV Show Behaviors

I can’t believe that I had not noticed before how most of the sitcoms and other “comedy” TV shows are mainly about deception in one form or another. Next time you get the chance to watch any of these shows pay attention and you will see what I mean. They are filled with lying, trickery, arguments and deceit from beginning to end. It makes to sad to think that we are all watching these shows and being entertained by such bad and rude behavior that is becoming so very abundant in today’s world.

Surprised Kitty Video on You Tube

I love finding cute videos on You Tube, the ones with puppies and/or kittens are my favorite. This one just cracks me up each time I watch it. They actually had this on The Animal Planet Channel two nights ago so I rushed to my computer yesterday to see if I could find it on You Tube and sure enough it was there. Gotta love You Tube!

Rooommate Jackpot

My roommate comes from a rich family, and her dad completely bank rolls her lifestyle. She is really sweet, and I always end up benefitting from her father’s generosity, so I can’t complain. When we moved in to our apartment her father went ahead and connected all the utilities and said he would be happy to take care of them for a whole year while we got situated. He hooked us up with a great cable package and clearwirelessinternet4g.

I felt bad accepting it at first, but what could I do? When I spoke to my roommate about it she told me she knew it was weird, but that’s the way her dad is and that I should just enjoy it. She said she has tried to tell him she wants to be on her own, but he won’t take no for an answer. If only that was one of the problems I had with my parents! I was worried that she would turn out to be a terrible roommate and that is why her dad needed to sweeten the deal, but she’s not. She cleans up after herself and is very respectful. I guess I hit the roommate jackpot!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

A few years ago, while perusing through TV channels one Saturday evening, I discovered that my favorite Christmas tale of all time, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, was airing in its live action movie format. I’d loved the book and the cartoon specials as a child and thought they did a good job of fleshing out the story in order to accommodate the feature length format. I was living with my college roommates at the time and we waxed nostalgia while enjoying it on TV. The movie plot basically follows the book where the anti-Christmas Grinch tries to spoil it for the people of Whoville by stealing all of their presents. Realizing the true meaning of Christmas after the folks of Whoville were able to enjoy it even without presents, the Grinch has a change of heart. The movie was directed by Ron Howard and starred Jim Carrey. It originally came out back in 2000 at the height of Carrey’s popularity.

Anyway, watching it has pretty much become an annual holiday event for me. Now that I’m out of school and back at home, I’ve been watching it the last two years with my parents. We usually catch the weekend showing when the whole family can get together. The only other requirements we have are some snacks, drinks and some cozy blankets.

Leave it to Beaver

I love watching black and white television shows and movies. They are one of my favorite currently available and I find that I like the classic movies and shows better than ones that have been made in just a few years from now. One of my favorite shows to watch in HD on my Cable Television is definitely Leave it to Beaver. Many people may not know about this show because it was created about fifty years ago. It’s one of those perfect shows that consists of a good natured housewife and a good family with a hard working husband. In as few terms as possible, it’s an unrealistic family that has been set into a long television show. They have made about six different seasons and I have all of them on DVD.

My mother actually makes fun of me for watching this show. It’s completely outdated and most people don’t really like it because it is completely unrealistic. But that’s probably why I like it so much. It’s just one of those shows that completely takes you out of your normal life and takes you into a world that is based on complete perfection. I guess not everything is perfect, but most of the episodes are definitely based on that perfect family that almost everyone would love to have in their normal and everyday lives.

I’m a “Big-Baby” Adult and I’m Proud of It

I am a college-educated 25-year-old who puts in a 50-hour work week and volunteers with a domestic violence hotline on weekends. Ask anyone who even remotely knows me and they will tell you that I am a big kid at heart, however. Life is way too short to be taken too seriously. When I am home, I unabashedly cast off my professional persona and revert back to a simpler, more innocent time.

The little time I do get to myself is, more often than not, spent in my living room, laying on my leather couch, watching children’s television programs. I sure do love me some Sponge Bob Square Pants. That Patrick Star always manages to make me chuckle and I just love Sandy Squirrel’s overdone southern accent. I could write a tome on how I consider the show more for “big-baby” adults than for the child audience for witch the show is truly intended.

Sponge Bob Square Pants is not the only program I adore. Thanks to the satellite i got after seeing this Direct TV Satellite Comparison, I have a plethora of options at my fingertips. South Park is a riot and the Boondocks is a welcome late-night distraction. I think everyone should indulge the child with in from time-to-time.

Flat Panel Stands

Hubby and I had recently gotten married and have finally moved into a home we can call our own. We have all of the furniture, pictures and décor up, but are lacking on flat panel stands for our new TV’s we have accumulated over the last couple years together, and a wall mount for my daughter’s TV. A few family members have offered to give us a table or something nice to put them on, but we want to buy a new mount and stands.

I searched throughout all the stores around town to compare prices but didn’t find anything that fits our taste or our budget. I came to the conclusion that I might be able to find something I’m looking for a little easier online. I took a night to search around the net and it didn’t take me long to find some awesome deals for some outstanding stands and mounts for our TV’s at a unbelievably great price.

I ordered 2 flat panel stands and one wall mount, and shipping was absolutely free! When they arrived at our home, we couldn’t have been any happier to set them up and finally put our TV’s to good use. We are all very thrilled to have home completely done up and ready for us to spend a great deal of time together in and enjoy all the years ahead.

Kids Sitting At Home Enjoying A Snow Day, With No Snow

Winter storms have been brutal for a good amount of the country this year. We’ve had a lot of cold temperatures and rain, but not the snow that our neighbors to the north are dealing with. We thought all that might change last night, as the weatherman was calling for  2 to 5 inches of snow for this entire part of the state. Of course, officials immediately canceled school and there are thousands of kids sitting home enjoying a snow day. Except there is no snow. LOL

The air was filled with blowing snowflakes this morning when I woke up, but the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. I’m actually glad that we don’t have the snow to deal with, and I’m sure the kids are happy to have a day at home playing video games and watching TV as well as playing with all the new goodies that they got for Christmas just a few weeks ago. So hopefully these kids who should be at school aren’t causing too much grief for their parents on a day that just didn’t turn out the way that all the weathermen predicted it would be, but that isn’t much of a surprise now is it? Even with all of today’s modern technologies that are in place, they still can’t accurately predict what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

Spending The Afternoon With The Bubble Boy

For some reason I slept like a log last night and this morning. I didn’t wake up until 12:30, which so totally not like me at all. Even though I slept long and heavy, I only woke up once to go to the bathroom, which is so very unusual for me these past couple of years. I usually wake up 2 or 3 times having to get up and run to the bathroom before diving back under the nice soft warm blankets to try to go back to sleep.

So when I finally woke up, I felt so awful, almost like I was coming down with something. So I crawled out of the bed, took a couple of Aleeve, drank a cup of hot tea and took a nice hot bath, hoping to feel much better after soaking for a good long while. But after I got out I still felt pretty bad and decided to just go back to bed and lay down for a while and watch some TV and see if I felt any better.

There was literally nothing on the TV, even with all the channels that I get with our current satellite channel package. I kept returning to the movie “The Boy In The Plastic Bubble” made in 1976, starring John Travolt and Diana Hyland. I remember seeing that movie a long time ago and really didn’t have any interest in watching it again, but since there was nothing else on I decided to tune in and watch just a bit of it, while looking to see if there was anything decent on another channel a bit later on. I was surprised to find that this really was a good movie and that I really didn’t remember much of it at all and before I knew it I was sucked into the whole story line. I ended up watching the rest of the movie, even staying put during the commercials, afraid of missing a single minute of the darn thing. What a great movie!

May The Best Man Win

Tomorrow will be a busy day for me all the way around. I have to take my dog to the vet before lunch, and after lunch I have an eye doctor’s appointment that I have really got to make sure to go to. It has been 2 years since I have had my eyes looked at and I’ve been having some concerns with the way that my eyesight that seems to be getting worse, sigh. Besides the fact that my glasses have seen better days. They seem to fall in the fix or repair daily category. Good thing I found a cheap eye-glass repair kit that I keep in my purse 24/7. It has saved my butt more times that I can count.

After all of the appointments are taken care of I plan on making my way downtown to place my vote, head home, eat some dinner then kick back and watch the news with all of the election coverage that will be plastered all over the TV night. I think it will be a couple of days before we really know who wins with all the problems that this year’s election has been facing, but only time will tell. This is an important election, history in the making. I hope that you plan to vote this year. And may the best man win!
