Memories of Beauty Pageant Contests

I spent the afternoon cleaning out my closet. After I got the clothing situation under control, I just had to do something about all the shoes that used to be so organized, but has turned into one big pile of smelly footwear that just gets on my last nerve, so I took control over that real quick like and moved onto the shelves that I had so much crap crammed on that I’m surprised they hadn’t fallen down from it all.

I found a box, way in the back of the top shelve that I haven’t seen in so many years. It has the home made crown and banner from my oldest daughter’s first beauty pageant that she was in. The youngest age bracket for that pageant was for 3 and 4 year old girls, my daughter turned 3 only 2 days before the actual pageant so she just barely was old enough and was the youngest contestant by far in the entire pageant. We video taped it and I wish that I had put that video tape in the box along with the other mementos from that wonderful day. She did so well and actually came in and blew the other toddlers away, many of which had all ready been in pageant contest and came home with the largest and prettiest crown of the day.

I still have the little sailor suit and hat that my mother purchased for her to wear, but some how the pageant fancy dress has disappeared throughout the years, it cost me $48, a lot of money back then for a new mother to come up with at that time, but it was worth every penny of it and at least we have the video to watch and enjoy for many years to come.

You Can’t Have Too Many Shoes!

I have found that before purchasing certain merchandise and items online, that it is a good idea to go to Best online coupons.com and see what type of promotions are available. There is money to be saved for online shoppers, such as myself, with discount codes, free shipping, clearance outlets and coupons just waiting to be taken advantage of.

Right now there is a good amount of Women’s Clearance Apparel available, with shoes being my main interest this time of year. I really like the new styles of sandals that are all the rage, the Gladiator look is very popular and I have several summer outfits that I think will really look hot with a nice silver pair. PayLess and Finish Line are two of my favorite places to purchase shoes and right now they have several online promotions that have caught my attention.

I think I need to look into getting a shoe rack for my closet. I have so many shoes that I didn’t save the boxes for and now they are spilling out every time I open the door, and we can’t be having that happen over and over again. I’ve seen a commercial for a product that stores your shoes under the bed, that would be cool, but then I’d have to do something with all the stuff that is all ready under there along with a lot of dust bunnies!

It’s Always Been All About Shoes

I love shoes, actually I love any type of foot wear, my favorites are boots and flip flops. I must have a dozen pairs of boots and several dozen pairs of flip flops that are taking up a lot of space in my walk in closet. My mother has always been frustrated with my need for new shoes and my father constantly was threatening to throw all of them out, back when I still lived at home, man that used to really irritate me to no end. I’m so glad that I don’t have to deal with all of that nonsense any more.

But I have decided that I need to down size, just a bit. So this weekend I am going to do a major clean up and clean out of my closet and take what I don’t need or want anymore to the local thrift store so that some one else may enjoy and use them as I have done. Just in time for another donation before the 2013 tax year ends.

Ladies Night Out

Once in a blue moon I’ll go out with some friends to a bar/restaurant for dinner and drinks. I can’t afford to go out as often as I would like to, but we are all experiencing hard times at this point with the economy in crisis and all. I’m trying to save as much money as possible, when ever I can, so when we do head out we try and make it on a Ladies Night, where the drinks are  more affordable for all us.

Last week we decided it was due time for a ladies night out and we went to our favorite “hole in the wall” and had a blast. We had a designated driver and all went well. No fights broke out, no one got so drunk that they ended up throwing up in the ladies room or the parking lot and each of us were able to go to work the next morning without a hitch.

We really enjoy going to this “hole in the wall” bar/restaurant. The waitresses are always nice and the owners are really great people that are just trying to keep their doors open with the rising costs that they are having to deal with. So we don’t mind throwing our business to them, when we are able to. The only problem is that they don’t have any foot rails for the patrons that end up sitting at the bar, so much of the night was discussing the issue with the owners. I think we made our point, they have consented to looking into the matter for us. So the next time we go I hope that they will have found some that they can afford to have installed and we all should be happy!

Not Tennis Shoes Anymore

Have you heard the term, non-athletic sneakers?

When I was a little girl we wore tennis shoes. Some boys worse “chucks,” like the boys who played basketball. Then we got into the Nikes and the Addidas athletic shoes to wear with jeans. I wore Reeboks because they were so comfortable and light on my feet.

Now I heard that they make non-athletic sneakers and “bikers.” I bought some by Sketchers and love them! One of the best things is the bungee laces – no more tying shoelaces!
