Online Tutoring Needs

Where was the Internet was I was back in school. I can’t even begin to imagine how different my education would have been if only the Internet had come along just a decade earlier. Today’s students can find Physics help, Chemistry help and Science help, along with all the other subjects that had us tearing our hair out back then, simply by going online.

I remember my physics tutor that was hired by my mother in her effort to provide me with some type of Physics problem solver. The tutor was this elderly lady who smelled of old fake fur. I just couldn’t get past the smell in order to concentrate enough to make her efforts worth while, so my mother finally decided to let her go. Strange how we remember things like that. I can’t remember her name, but I remember what she looked like and that smell will forever be embedded in my memory banks.

My niece is finding it necessary to find a Chemistry tutor. She has turned to the Internet to find some help. She is in her first year of college and is getting very frustrated with the whole college scene, bless her heart. She is the first one in her family to attend college and is giving it all that she has in order to make her parents proud and to make something out of herself.  She used to love science ( one thing that we have in common) it wasn’t uncommon for her to email or call me with some of her Science questions that she needed help with in High School. I always enjoyed science and that was our common bond for a long time. But now that she is in college I’m afraid it’s all a bit over my head.

I wish her all the luck in the world. It would be great to see her graduate and live a successful and prosperous life, then I could say that “I knew her when……”   LOL

Kids Sitting At Home Enjoying A Snow Day, With No Snow

Winter storms have been brutal for a good amount of the country this year. We’ve had a lot of cold temperatures and rain, but not the snow that our neighbors to the north are dealing with. We thought all that might change last night, as the weatherman was calling for  2 to 5 inches of snow for this entire part of the state. Of course, officials immediately canceled school and there are thousands of kids sitting home enjoying a snow day. Except there is no snow. LOL

The air was filled with blowing snowflakes this morning when I woke up, but the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. I’m actually glad that we don’t have the snow to deal with, and I’m sure the kids are happy to have a day at home playing video games and watching TV as well as playing with all the new goodies that they got for Christmas just a few weeks ago. So hopefully these kids who should be at school aren’t causing too much grief for their parents on a day that just didn’t turn out the way that all the weathermen predicted it would be, but that isn’t much of a surprise now is it? Even with all of today’s modern technologies that are in place, they still can’t accurately predict what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

Online Tutoring – A God Send For Many Students

It seems that my niece would never had graduated into high school last year if she hadn’t found Math help via the good old Internet! Her guidance counselor suggested that she check into this Online Tutor, since several of her classmates had discovered this Math Problem Solver. Since most of us in the family are not the best when it comes to math, we really couldn’t be much help to her. My sister was pulling hair out trying to find a Math Tutor for her that was local and in the neighborhood and had no idea that by going online would bring the much needed help that she was looking for.

My niece has a good head on her shoulders and will go far in this life. Some times we just need a helping hand some times to keep ahead of the game and sometimes that help isn’t readily available for a lot of us. We certainly could have used this type of assistance back in my day of schooling, but computers were just coming into the picture at that point. What computers were available were used by the government, big corporations and kids that wanted to play games like Pong, Pac Man and the like. What a difference a few decades have made for all us!

Photography

It’s too bad that I never took photography seriously back in school. We had a great teacher who became very well-known in the photography world and really loved teaching everything that he knew and was continuing to learn to his students. Some of them became professional photographers and have done quite well. I love taking pictures, but am lacking what it takes to constantly and consistently shoot good photos. One day I would love to take a class to learn more about it, I do so appreciate a really great shot, much like the one below that I found online today.

Backpacks for School

We have found the perfect high sierra backpacks for the kids to use come the last week of August when they all go back to school. It’s hard to believe that their summer vacation is coming to a screeching halt here real soon. As much as they can get on our nerves when they are out of school when they get either a bit on the hyper side or when they loudly proclaim “I’m bored!” I really do find myself missing them soon after they have gone back. And these are just my brothers and sisters, I don’t have any kids of my own, yet.

Wrestling

Been taking some time looking at Suplay wrestling gear that my son will need in a few weeks when school starts and he gets back into his favorite sport of wrestling. Last year he did pretty well for it being his first time. It surprised me to see that he did so well considering he really isn’t what I would consider the wrestling type, but he seems determined and I will back him all the way as long as he keeps his grades up and doesn’t get seriously hurt in the process.

Nyquil

Massive doses of the yucky green stuff is doing the trick. I know they changed the formula recently, but it still makes the stuffy nose / fever / can’t sleep / feel bad / etc / go away for 4 hours at a time.

Early to bed again and hoping for a good day tomorrow. At least the weather has gotten better and there WILL be school tomorrow.
