The Emergence of Green Web Hosting

I am all about going and being as “green” as possible these days. It isn’t really difficult considering that I was raised by parents that were tuned in to saving valuable energy and totally into recycling since they were young. They were from the hippie days and they taught me a lot during my childhood in order for me to continue their efforts and ways of life that they and I are so proud of.

I’m happy to have found that there are many opportunities out there for us to help us all go “green“, including ways to get the  best web hosting sites that are supporting the “green” movement. At Web Hosting Geeks.com they have provided us with the top 8 web hosting companies that are Eco-friendly. These sites are using alternative and/or renewable energy, they are planting trees, recycling waste and purchase RECs in order to power their data centers and I think that this is simply awesome! I would anyone to check this list out at web hosting geeks dot com and find a green web hosting that would work for them to help contribute to this important movement.

For more information you can check out their blog as well that has several posts concerning Green Web Hosting, it’s all good!

Recycling, It’s All Good

At my last job they gave me a POS laptop and printer. For being an executive at that company, I sure wasn’t treated like one. I felt like the red headed stepchild. Got out of there in 6 months flat – long enough to make a decent stab at it for the resume, plus a nice little paycheck. But the boss was a jerk and the company was going down the tank, so I got out of there. But a little bonus from that was that the POS printer is actually perfect for this freelance job I’m doing. The HP1020 Laserjet prints fast and cheap and it never jams. It’s a real workhorse for under $100, and the toner cartridges, which cost about $60 each retail, can be picked up at the recycling store for only $45.

The recycled cartridges don’t print as dark a black, but that doesn’t matter for the reports I crank out. I’ve been using 2 recycled cartridges every month for a year and have not had any issues at all – knock on wood. And I’ve saved about $30 per month, so if you need a cheap reliable printer that uses recycled cartridges well, try to grab this one up.

If I like anything, it’s the kiss of death. It is sure to be discontinued soon.

The Power of Search Engines

You just gotta love how you can go to a search engine, take Google for example, and type in just a few smart keywords such as “commercial litigation lawyers raleigh nc” and come up with some wonderful sites that fit the bill to a tee. I’m not sure if everybody really understands the power of search engines these days on the Internet, but I do know that more and more people are refusing to use the old fashioned paper version of their local residential and commercial phone books such as The Yellow Pages. I know mine go straight into the cardboard recycling bin as soon as I find them on the front porch or in the driveway. Who needs those when you have the power of the Word Wide Web at your finger tips.
