We Have Each Others Back

There are so many ways that I see my sister healing with the help of a very interesting and creative Jungian Psychoanalysis that she has been working with for a few months now. Even though she lives so far away from where I live we are still very close and manage to communicate several times a week, so I know her pretty well.

We have lived together several times throughout our adult lives. It is great to know that my sister always has my back and she darn well knows that I’ve got hers as well. We do talk about how lucky and blessed we are to have such a great relationship despite all the other wacky family members that we have in the ever-growing family that we were born into. There are so many brothers and sisters that don’t remain close as the years tumble by.

I wasn’t all that knowledgeable about this particular New York Jungian Psychotherapy method, but I took the time to research New York Jungian Therapists as much as I could online and she seems to be flourishing, so I am thrilled. It really bites that I can’t see her as much as I would like to. A seven hour drive might as well be all the way across the country. But if need be it could and would be done, that much I know.

Wonderful Corn Fritters Recipe

One of my favorite recipes to make is for the Corn Fritters that I remember making so often over at my sister’s house a lot, back when she was married to her first husband, the father of her three wonderful boys. Her middle son was good around the kitchen and we would have fun together listening to music, trying new recipes, one of his favorites being the corn fritter also, so we made a lot of corn fritters in those years.

I haven’t made any in quite some time so I thought that I would break out my recipe book and make up a batch the other evening, and I have to tell you, they came out perfect. I love that you can refrigerate the left over ones and just nuke for 1 minute for a great anytime snack, and the more real butter that you put on it the better.

  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3 Eggs (separated)
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 1 Can Corn (drained)
  • 2 or 3 Tb Oil –  additional amount may be needed to cover the entire bottom of your frying pan, depending on the size of the pan you use

Mix flour, baking powder and salt, set aside. In separate bowl of medium size, whip egg whites on high, with electric mixer, until stiff. And in a yet larger bowl, beat the egg yolks and stir in the milk, and drained corn, and the flour mixture that you just put aside, mix thoroughly. Fold in the whipped egg whites and blend together for a few minutes.

Drop by tablespoons into the hot oil and fry for approximately 5 minutes, or until nicely browned and cooked thoroughly in the middle. Once they are on your plate, smother with real butter and enjoy.

Dirty Water

I can’t stand the way that my water looks, smells and tastes. After I take my daily bath and let the water run out and drain there is a lot of black grainy junk left in the tub. Looks like I’m going to need to contact a water service company. I’ve been needing to find a replacement for my Water Heater Indianapolis, that might help with some of the problems as well.

Funny how sometimes when I think of dirty water, the song Dirty Water, by The Standells, starts playing in my head. I think this song was a hit in the mid 1960s. My mother is always listening to the Oldies radio station (it plays music from the 50′ and the 60’s,) so I have been exposed to a lot of different types of music throughout the years.

My father was totally into Country Music, I was never a big fan of it but always enjoyed being around my Dad so I kinda got used to it but it’s not real high up on my list of favorite music.

Personally I like a lot of the music from the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s. I was that I had been around when Disco dancing was all the rage. I know a lot of people hate on Disco, but to me it always provides me with a good consistent beat!

The Knots Prayer

One of my friends is going through some very trying times. She just recently lost her husband and is now raising a teenager on her own. Another friend sent this out to her and cc’d me. I like what is says, hope she enjoys it and I just wanted to post it here. Strange how the author is unknown.

Spring Cleaning Time Again. . .

I mean really how hard can it be to get on your computer and go to the Google search and type in “cost of professional carpet cleaning austintexas” or “discount carpet cleaning services austin texas” or something of that nature in order for my aging aunt to get her carpets  thoroughly cleaned.  That way one of us doesn’t have to make the long drive to her place and use her very old and broken down do it yourself carpet cleaner that she has had for years, and should have thrown out ages ago in an effort to help her with her spring cleaning that she goes all out for each and every spring.

It didn’t use to be that big of a deal when more of us still lived locally or at least in the same state. But as most families have, folks have been moving further and further away as time goes by. But now that it is just a small handful and life is keeping everyone busy as bees trying to work as many jobs as they can find in these tough economic times that we have found ourselves in the middle of for way too long now.

So now we are trying to get my aunt to start using her computer more. For the most part she just uses it for emails and sending photos to friends and family. She knows her way around the keyboard and can type a million words a minute but as far as using it for researching anything or anyone is still something that she needs work and help with. Which is another task that one of needs to take by the horns with her as well, God Bless her.

Dental Practices

One of my big fears that I must over come twice a year, is a fear of dentists. When I was a kid my mother used to take me to this Dentist that had bad breath and a bad attitude to go along with it. I remember he would give me a hard time about plucking my eye brows. He believed that eye brows where the gate way to the soul or some such nonsense, I would always come out of that dentist office feeling bad about my self and wishing that I never would have to go back, although his office was decorated with a fascinating fish aquarium and some wonderful seascape paintings that I loved looking at.

I’m so glad that I found the perfect dentist for me to take care of my teeth. I actually found him online at. For over twenty years they have been matching patients up with quality dentists and I’ve told many people about them over the years. Not only do they find dentists in your area but they have good dentistry information that has come in handy for me through out the years.

All you need to do is type in your zip code and click on the type of dentistry service you are looking for, such as a cleaning, braces, whitening, fillings, dentures, caps, root canals and the like, and you will be guided to the appropriate listings of dentists for you to review and choose from. Pretty easy pickings.

New Best Place

With the economy being as it is today, eating out has become more of a luxury for our family dining. Although the kids like to patronize the fast food places, my husband and I prefer to go somewhere a little more interesting. On this occasion we decided to check out a new restaurant that had just opened and after battling with the kids over where to go, we set the security alarm  and headed out. When we arrived at the new Red Elephant, we were very surprised with what we saw, as were the kids. Inside the decor was a wonderful mix of hand painted murals, featuring all sorts of wild animals.

The kids were totally in awe and had to take time to search them all out. They even wandered into the arcade, which to them, was the greatest thing on earth. The menu had everything an adult might want to eat, as well as pizza and burgers for the younger set. Large screen tv’s were in every corner, so grown-ups could watch the news, as well as sporting events. The evening was a huge success and I think the kids may have, at least for the time being, forgotten about that famous fast food place. Must say that the elephant ears on the menu were the icing on the cake.

One Hell of A Good Book

I love reading a variety of books. It seems that I usually have 2 or 3 going at the same time, it works out most of the time. I always keep a good novel in the bathroom. When I take my bath I kick back and get some good reading time out of the deal as well.

I just finished a novel “Up Country” by Nelson DeMille, who also wrote “The General’s Daughter” which I really need to find now. This was a great book about Vietnam Vets that anyone would and should enjoy reading at some point.

All I Want For Christmas

Hard to believe that Christmas is only a month away, it seems as if we just took down all of the holiday decorations just a few short months ago, now we have to put them up all over again. It takes a lot of time, work and effort each year to get ready for the big day on December 25th and each year we end up buying more items that we just can’t live without to make our houses look festive and welcoming.

My folks have all ready been sending out emails asking what each of us would like for our Christmas presents this year. They always buy the best presents out of anyone I know, they aren’t struggling for money and are willing to purchase items that most people wouldn’t dream of buying some one for Christmas. Like last year I really needed a new stove and I didn’t have the cash to buy a new one, so they bought one of the top of line Jen Air models for me and I couldn’t be happier. And my brother had his heart set on a new roll tonneau cover for his new Ford Pick Up so they made sure that he got the one that he wanted that year. My sister on the hand wanted a new Harley Davidson, but my parents aren’t that generous and she is still moaning and groaning about that.

I have to put my thinking cap on this year to give them some ideas to choose from, it’s really strange that I’m having a hard time coming up with something that I really want or need. That doesn’t happen very often, I can tell you that! I have a week or so to mull it over and come up with some suggestions, I’m sure I’ll figure something out to tell them.

Yogi Bear

I have been wanting to see the Yogi Bear movie for several years now. So this weekend a girlfriend of mine and I going to the mall, doing some shopping (using some of the gift cards that we got for way back at last Christmas) and then we are going to watch Yogi Bear and his side kick Boo Boo. I used to love watching the Yogi Bear cartoons while growing up so I’m a real fan of Yogis and I can only hope that this movie does him justice.
