I find it very disturbing that there are so many people who have let themselves go and have become grossly over weight. No one can deny the fact that when out in public the amount of people that you come across need to loss weight, and I’m not talking about the folks that could take off 10 or 20 pounds, but more the likes of needing to get rid of 50 to 100 pounds of blubber, ugh….While listening to the local news last night, I heard a new story that tells us that the numbers are in, statistics are now showing that 2/3 of the U.S. population are over weight! That is a ridiculous number and if that isn’t a wake up call, I don’t know what is.
Jerky Dog Treats
Every once in a while a product that’s been on the shelves for a long time but never got your attention before will suddenly grab your attention and end up in your shopping cart. Sometimes it is placement on the store shelves that moves and you realize you are out of your routine. Sometimes it is new packaging, such as brighter colors on the box design or change from a box to a resealable bag. Sometimes it must be a mental response to a commercial or even subliminal advertising. Well, whatever the reason, today I noticed a bag of chicken jerky in the aisle for dog treats. It seemed to be a good sized bag with multiple treats inside, so I decided on a lark to buy a bag and see if my dog likes them. We haven’t broken into the bag yet but I’ll let you know if they are a hit or a miss.

Searching for Chocolate
My sister belongs to the local Red Hatter’s club, so I’ve been helping her to find a cool restaurant to hold their March gathering. They are a great group of ladies, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting most of them at various functions that I’ve attended with my sister. One day I’ll be joining the club, but you have to be 50 years old and I have a ways to go yet, but it will come soon enough, I’m sure.
Anyways, it is cool that we no longer have to rely on the old fashioned paper version of the local yellowpages to find local restaurants and such and that we can turn to the Internet to find just about anything you need at any time. Whether it is a local search or trying to find something half way across the world, it’s all there for the taking for anyone looking.
We did come up with a place called The Frenchman’s Corner, that sounds interesting, you can drink your coffee or tea and taste their Belgian chocolates on a what is promised to be a journey of gastronomic sweet delights. Going with a group of friends to a place like that is perfect. If and when they decide to go there I’ll tag along, sounds like fun and I love chocolate!
Cheap Gift Ideas for Guitarists
Last Christmas was made so much easier by utilizing the Internet for all that it is worth. I actually purchased every single present online this time. I didn’t have to go to the mall or to Walmart or Target for anything, 100%. Except of course for any of the groceries or items that are sold at the grocery stores. Now that is what I’m talking about!
I did all of my research online as well. There is so much good information out there – it just amazes me. By using sites that offer advice, like the one that I used to find a cheap gift for guitarists which gave me good info that I actually used to help decide a couple of gifts with. I don’t think there really is a music store here in this town. Other than what Walmart and Target have to offer, and that isn’t much at all. So online is the way to go unless you want to drive over an hour to the next town over that has a small music store in the old town district.
Today’s Burlap
It seems that burlap is making a come-back, in a big way. I have never been a big fan of burlap, but today’s burlap is being used in so many pretty cool ways. I was looking at http://www.burlap-tablecloth.com and see that tablecloths, overlays, table runners, isle runners, burlap table toppers, fitted tablecloths, chair covers, sashes. napkins, drapes and a whole lot more is being made with burlap.
Check it out. I just might be using some of the gift cards that I received for Christmas at this site.

On My Soap Box for Just a Moment
I was always taught that with everything in this world that has good, there is always a bad and vice verse. The holidays are filled with such wonderful things, family, friends, good food and course all the good gifts and presents that are given and received. It is unfortunate that people do turn to drinking alcoholic beverages this time of year and that presents problems with holiday drinking and driving.
Each year we hear how they are catching so many people drinking and driving and lives are lost due to that. Christmas is no time to loose someone due to some one’s carelessness. By getting a DUI is bad news all the way around. I know several people that still don’t have their license, because of getting caught drinking and driving. It can cost you a boat load of money, jail time and then having to find high risk drivers insurance to boot.
So I’m hoping that people will drink responsibly and that we can all enjoy a fun but safe holiday this year. With all the snow still on the ground people need to stay off the bottle, stay off the cell phone and pay full attention to the road up ahead. I’ll get off my soap box now.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
A few years ago, while perusing through TV channels one Saturday evening, I discovered that my favorite Christmas tale of all time, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, was airing in its live action movie format. I’d loved the book and the cartoon specials as a child and thought they did a good job of fleshing out the story in order to accommodate the feature length format. I was living with my college roommates at the time and we waxed nostalgia while enjoying it on TV. The movie plot basically follows the book where the anti-Christmas Grinch tries to spoil it for the people of Whoville by stealing all of their presents. Realizing the true meaning of Christmas after the folks of Whoville were able to enjoy it even without presents, the Grinch has a change of heart. The movie was directed by Ron Howard and starred Jim Carrey. It originally came out back in 2000 at the height of Carrey’s popularity.
Anyway, watching it has pretty much become an annual holiday event for me. Now that I’m out of school and back at home, I’ve been watching it the last two years with my parents. We usually catch the weekend showing when the whole family can get together. The only other requirements we have are some snacks, drinks and some cozy blankets.
Ladies Night Out
Once in a blue moon I’ll go out with some friends to a bar/restaurant for dinner and drinks. I can’t afford to go out as often as I would like to, but we are all experiencing hard times at this point with the economy in crisis and all. I’m trying to save as much money as possible, when ever I can, so when we do head out we try and make it on a Ladies Night, where the drinks are more affordable for all us.
Last week we decided it was due time for a ladies night out and we went to our favorite “hole in the wall” and had a blast. We had a designated driver and all went well. No fights broke out, no one got so drunk that they ended up throwing up in the ladies room or the parking lot and each of us were able to go to work the next morning without a hitch.
We really enjoy going to this “hole in the wall” bar/restaurant. The waitresses are always nice and the owners are really great people that are just trying to keep their doors open with the rising costs that they are having to deal with. So we don’t mind throwing our business to them, when we are able to. The only problem is that they don’t have any foot rails for the patrons that end up sitting at the bar, so much of the night was discussing the issue with the owners. I think we made our point, they have consented to looking into the matter for us. So the next time we go I hope that they will have found some that they can afford to have installed and we all should be happy!
Custom Built Homes In Florida
Found an interesting article about mobile manufactured homes. Some people call them trailers. So I think you would probably want to call this futuristic manufactured home a “Jetson’s Trailer.” The home is manufactured and sells for much less than a stick built home. It has a few options, but the main design is for the home to be easily assembled on a prepared level home site and provides the basic functional rooms that a modern family or retired couple might need with a lot of modern touches and energy efficiency built-in.
If I were to have my dream house I would turn to a Fl Home Builder since there isn’t any other place that I would want to live out my life at. There are many ideas that I have been entertaining about the way I would want my dream house to be set up and with what appliances that it makes my head spin just thinking about them all. I swear I don’t see how people are able to make the thousands of decisions that come along with the building of their custom-house.
I just know that I want a fireplace, the washer and dryer need to be on the main floor. The kitchen must be easily accessible to the bringing in of the inevitable groceries and other purchases. And my refrigerator needs to have a see-through door and have an ice maker. Those are just a couple of ideas that I’ve been thinking about, not that I ever plan on having enough money to build my own custom home, but stranger things have been known to happen, right?
Once A Month Is Enough For Me
It seems that there are a large amount of people that are suffering from digestive issues, what a drag. I know a lot of people that are dealing with stomach issues, mainly IBS, that are always looking for new products to help them ease the discomfort that goes along with this imbalance issue.
One of the ladies at work is trying the product of threelac that she found online. It is a natural solution for digestion candida and yeast imbalance control. She misses a couple of days a month due to her stomach woes, I can really feel for her. OMG once a month my gut is on fire for three to five days, I can’t imagine dealing with pain any more than that whole period deal.
As far as thrush goes, that’s a whole different story to share at a later time, ugh……
