Dawn’s Special Day in April

My one sister is the type that has to have the best of everything for her kids. No hand me downs or seconds for her and her girls, must be nice, right? Most new mothers would love to receive anything that they can get their hands on for free. Babies and kids cost a good chunk of change and most of us are really hurting for money these days, but she and her husband are still fairing fairly well and so she just keeps on spending money like it was nothing.

Her middle daughter, Dawn, my favorite niece out of the bunch is having her 3th birthday party come the middle of April. The invitations have been sent out and the plans are being made to have a real nice party for her on her special day. We can only hope that the weather is much better then and we can enjoy the majority of the party outside. My sister is talking of having a clown and pony rides. You never know what to expect, weather wise, in the month of March and April, with all of the spring rain that comes each year, so we can only hope.

I have gone online to find some good gift ideas for Dawn’s birthday present. I have a few years experience buying clothing for her kids and one website I can always count on to have some of the most unique, stylish and trendy clothing available. They have brand names like jellycat, alex, haba, barefoot dreams, skip hop, appaman and wow toys that are just fabulous and affordable. They offer free shipping with orders over $65 and are currently having a sale with sales up to 75% off, so I should be able to find a few good deals in time to have them wrapped and ready to go by April.

Dad, My Handy Man

At some point I will take the time and look for some new exterior shutters for the place. Each time my parents come over my father points out what a difference a pair of exterior shutters would make for the front of the house. He has even offered to look around for and with me when I’m ready to commit, so that would be cool.

My father has always been handy around the house and the yard, so any time he wants to give me a hand around the place, I’m all for it!

Games For Girls

It wasn’t too awfully long ago that one would have a hard time finding games that targeted the girls that spend a good amount of time playing games online. But there has been a big push to get more games out there and I’m glad to see that it is working.

My 12 year old daughter enjoys all types of games, but there are times that she really wants to enjoy being a young girl, and doing girlie things, so I’m glad that she found a site that is all about  Girl Games at Easygirlgames.com.  She tells me that they are pretty easy, fun and that they have a wide range of games for girls spend their free time checking out. She is getting too old for toys, but still a bit young for boys and still spends most of her time at home, rather than running the roads or hanging at the mall with her friends. So gaming is a good way for her to spend some of her free time.

Tattoos

More and more as I go throughout my daily chores and errands, I see a lot more people with tattoos! Honestly, I don’t understand the popularity of them at all. Most of the people that I know that have had tattoos for a long time tell me that they wish that they had never gotten them. The tattoos have faded, or run, and don’t look good anymore. And a lot of times people have been discriminated against because of the tattoos that they have gotten.

Although I have seen a lot of really pretty, nice looking tattoos, I think that it is a mistake to get them, it costs a lot to have them removed and that procedure hurts a lot more than getting the tattoo in the first place.

Memories of Beauty Pageant Contests

I spent the afternoon cleaning out my closet. After I got the clothing situation under control, I just had to do something about all the shoes that used to be so organized, but has turned into one big pile of smelly footwear that just gets on my last nerve, so I took control over that real quick like and moved onto the shelves that I had so much crap crammed on that I’m surprised they hadn’t fallen down from it all.

I found a box, way in the back of the top shelve that I haven’t seen in so many years. It has the home made crown and banner from my oldest daughter’s first beauty pageant that she was in. The youngest age bracket for that pageant was for 3 and 4 year old girls, my daughter turned 3 only 2 days before the actual pageant so she just barely was old enough and was the youngest contestant by far in the entire pageant. We video taped it and I wish that I had put that video tape in the box along with the other mementos from that wonderful day. She did so well and actually came in and blew the other toddlers away, many of which had all ready been in pageant contest and came home with the largest and prettiest crown of the day.

I still have the little sailor suit and hat that my mother purchased for her to wear, but some how the pageant fancy dress has disappeared throughout the years, it cost me $48, a lot of money back then for a new mother to come up with at that time, but it was worth every penny of it and at least we have the video to watch and enjoy for many years to come.

It Runs In The Family

It is so very awesome that we plus sized women now have a larger selection of clothes available to us, in stores, in catalogs and online, as well. It has always been a chore trying to find stylish, trendy, comfortable and affordable Women’s Plus Size fashions, up until just about the turn of the century.

Being big boned runs in the family, both my father’s and my mother’s side is full of nothing but large woman, so I was doomed right from the get go, sigh… I am happy to say that the “fat gene” isn’t prevalent, just the big bones. No diet or exercise does much good, something that we all have learned the hard way through out the many years. Dieting doesn’t do a thing to reduce the large bones that so many of us have to deal with on a daily basis.

My Mother’s Buying List

I have always wanted a nice set of Hartmann Luggage or the ever popular Vera Bradley Luggage that looks so good on the luggage carousel at the airports at the end of the trip. Or at least if you are lucky enough to have your luggage arrive along with your arrival. I’ve never had my luggage lost before but I’ve heard some horror stories from folks that have had to deal with all the hassles and inconvenience of an airline losing your precious belongings that were being stored in your Luggage.

As I stated before I’ve always wanted to own a nice set of luggage and my mother is trying to make that happen for me for my birthday that is fast approaching this winter. My mother is expecting a nice sized tax refund from Uncle Sam next year and wants to purchase a few things that she has had her heart on for the past year. I’m just lucky enough to be on her buying list this year!

Of course I’m sure that if she finds herself in need of some nice luggage she can always count on being able to borrow mine any time she needs it. That is a plus!

Anyone remember this commercial. It took less than 3 minutes to find it on YouTube! It still makes me laugh even after all these years of not seeing it at all.

Fashion Show – Victoria’s Secret Style

More women than you would think watch the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show that has become so very popular now a days. I have always enjoyed watching it when I can and I did manage to watch it just the other night and I have to tell you that each year some how, they seem to top the previous year’s, and this year was no different, it was truly brilliantly done.

Our local mall here has one of their retail stores, but their prices are just so darn high most of the time, although each year they do have a really good sale, I hope that I have a few bucks in my pocket come next month and I have to pay attention and see when the sale hits.

SHORT LOVE STORY

There is a man and a woman who had never met before, but who were both married to other people, they found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a trans-continental train.

Though they wereboth initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly, he in the upper berth and she in the lower.

Around  1:00 AM , the man leaned down and gently woke up the woman saying,………. ‘Ma’am, I’m sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I’m awfully cold.’

‘I have a better idea,’ she replied ‘Just for tonight,…… let’s pretend that we’re married.’

‘Wow!………………….. That’s a great idea!’, he exclaimed.

‘Good,’ she replied. ………….’Get your own f….g blanket.’

Then after a moment of silence, he farted.

The End

Our Flag

It does my heart good to see so many people sporting the Confederate Flag on their vehicles as well as on their homes and property. I can’t for the life of me understand what all the hoopla is about the Confederate flag. I have a large  Confederate flag myself but since I rent an apartment I can’t install it, which makes me very sad.

There are tons of places that are selling all types of flags to be used on a vehicle but I am afraid that if I ordered one and put it on my car that someone would get angry and try and hurt me and/or my car. I can just see it now, I come strolling out of Walmart to find my tires slashed or any of all the other ways someone can damage a car while no one is looking.
