A Pat on The Back

At the grocery store today I asked the cashier for the store manager, poor guy was ready to freak out on me. I had to assure him that it wasn’t anything negative and nothing to do with him. I wanted to tell the store manager about a certain employee that I see there from time to time that always gives me the biggest smile and a hug and how much I appreciate all that he does in his work there.

The store manager came out and I told him my little story and he thanked me for taking the time out to tell him a good thing about an employee, seems they don’t get many of those these days!

Weddings On YouTube

This has got to be one of my all time favorite wedding videos to date that I have found and shared on YouTube. Most of the great, crazy, fun filled dancing that we are seeing video taped from wedding these past couple of years are taking place after the wedding at the reception, often the Father and Daughter’s first dance are being choreographed or the best men or brides maids are showing off their talents on the dance floor. But as you can see, if you actually watch this video, this dance takes place right before the ceremony and there isn’t a single person seen on the video that isn’t smiling, clapping, tapping, dancing or laughing.

New Best Place

With the economy being as it is today, eating out has become more of a luxury for our family dining. Although the kids like to patronize the fast food places, my husband and I prefer to go somewhere a little more interesting. On this occasion we decided to check out a new restaurant that had just opened and after battling with the kids over where to go, we set the security alarm  and headed out. When we arrived at the new Red Elephant, we were very surprised with what we saw, as were the kids. Inside the decor was a wonderful mix of hand painted murals, featuring all sorts of wild animals.

The kids were totally in awe and had to take time to search them all out. They even wandered into the arcade, which to them, was the greatest thing on earth. The menu had everything an adult might want to eat, as well as pizza and burgers for the younger set. Large screen tv’s were in every corner, so grown-ups could watch the news, as well as sporting events. The evening was a huge success and I think the kids may have, at least for the time being, forgotten about that famous fast food place. Must say that the elephant ears on the menu were the icing on the cake.

One Hell of A Good Book

I love reading a variety of books. It seems that I usually have 2 or 3 going at the same time, it works out most of the time. I always keep a good novel in the bathroom. When I take my bath I kick back and get some good reading time out of the deal as well.

I just finished a novel “Up Country” by Nelson DeMille, who also wrote “The General’s Daughter” which I really need to find now. This was a great book about Vietnam Vets that anyone would and should enjoy reading at some point.

Dinner Theater

I am going to take my 11 year old niec to the Dinner Theater in a few weeks. She given tickets to it for her birthday and she decided that she wanted me to take her to it instead of her mom. They have “The Pirates of Penzance Junior” which we should both enjoy and I look forward to going with her!

All I Want For Christmas

Hard to believe that Christmas is only a month away, it seems as if we just took down all of the holiday decorations just a few short months ago, now we have to put them up all over again. It takes a lot of time, work and effort each year to get ready for the big day on December 25th and each year we end up buying more items that we just can’t live without to make our houses look festive and welcoming.

My folks have all ready been sending out emails asking what each of us would like for our Christmas presents this year. They always buy the best presents out of anyone I know, they aren’t struggling for money and are willing to purchase items that most people wouldn’t dream of buying some one for Christmas. Like last year I really needed a new stove and I didn’t have the cash to buy a new one, so they bought one of the top of line Jen Air models for me and I couldn’t be happier. And my brother had his heart set on a new roll tonneau cover for his new Ford Pick Up so they made sure that he got the one that he wanted that year. My sister on the hand wanted a new Harley Davidson, but my parents aren’t that generous and she is still moaning and groaning about that.

I have to put my thinking cap on this year to give them some ideas to choose from, it’s really strange that I’m having a hard time coming up with something that I really want or need. That doesn’t happen very often, I can tell you that! I have a week or so to mull it over and come up with some suggestions, I’m sure I’ll figure something out to tell them.

Witches on Brooms

Tonight I checked the sky for witches on brooms. Didn’t see any and I wonder what I would have done if I had seen a witch!

Actually I am intrigued with witches and witchcraft. I know of several women who say they are good witches and they don’t really make a big deal about it around us. I say if they have any powers to help people and they don’t cause any harm, then they should be able to do whatever they want to do without being harassed or persecuted.

So, if you are a witch – have a Happy Halloween!

Share The Road

I have always had a lot of respect for truckers. Certainly not a job that I could handle. My brother-in-law started driving an 18 wheeler 5 two years ago and always has the most interesting stories to share about his life on the road as I’m sure all truckers do. I was surprised to find out that most truckers don’t use CB radios anymore since cell phones and the Internet came along. He explains that now a days the majority of the people who even use a CB radio are the drug dealers and the lot lizards that are looking for “a date” for the evening (or at anytime really, truckers are found on the road all hours of the day and night, every day of the week.

My sister has no interest in going out of the road with him, not even for just a local run that would have her home in plenty of time to deal with all the other things that keep working women so busy 24/7. I’d love to go on a road trip with him. He is a good guy with a wicked good sense of humor that doesn’t get on my last nerve as quickly as so many other people do.

Digging The Deals At Musician Friend

Paying under $300 for a decent Fender guitar is a good deal, if you ask me. Since no one is asking me I took it upon myself to look at what the musician friend website has to offer their shoppers these days. Check out this cutie! I just might be buying myself a Christmas present this year after all!

Yogi Bear

I have been wanting to see the Yogi Bear movie for several years now. So this weekend a girlfriend of mine and I going to the mall, doing some shopping (using some of the gift cards that we got for way back at last Christmas) and then we are going to watch Yogi Bear and his side kick Boo Boo. I used to love watching the Yogi Bear cartoons while growing up so I’m a real fan of Yogis and I can only hope that this movie does him justice.
