Last night’s game between the Colts and the Chargers was an exciting game right on up until the end, which resulted in having to go into overtime where the Chargers kicked some butt. The Chargers played a great ball game all evening and certainly deserved to win this game and I hope that they go all the way this year!
The Super Bowl will be a fun event, I look forward to entertaining a few friends at the house while watching it in a few weeks!
Today is the day after Christmas, the mail man delivered 6 Christmas Cards to my door this afternoon, that is almost as many as I had gotten all during the holiday season. But like the old saying goes “Better Late Than Never”
My ex in-laws never seemed to be able to put a plan in place for today’s Thanksgiving meal, not surprising really, their life style is so much different from anything that I have ever had experienced in my life, so laid back and totally informal, taking one day as it comes, so to speak. Well this time their lack of commitment and planning has made the decision a bit easier this Thanksgiving, we are planning on leaving in a few hours to head to my folks for the late afternoon or early evening diner hour, not sure what time frame 4:30pm fits into! At least the weather is cooperating, it is really nice out, less bundling and layering to deal with today!
Now we have to start thinking about what is ahead of us for the Christmas Holiday plans with both families to keep in mind, argg…..
Having a large is nice and all and comes in handy in so many ways, unfortunately during this time of the year it is very overwhelming with all of the falling leaves that land in the yard and drive way. I have spent several hours each week-end for the last few weeks, outside raking and bagging and it makes me think that in just another month or so I’ll be out doing the same thing, only with snow instead of leaves, bummer!
One good thing is that it gets me outside and is good exercise, other than that it is a real drag!
The announcement that Barack Obama had enough electoral college votes by 10:30 last night so that he was declared the winner was a surprise. I knew the election was going to be very close. I’m not sure what the final popular numbers were, but it was very close. It must be very strange to step into a new job and know right off that half of the people don’t like you and don’t want you. Can you imagine working on that kind of hostile environment? He has a lot of challenges ahead, that’s for sure.
I love October. The weather is still warm during the day, but the nights start to turn cool and you can open all the windows in the house to let the fresh air come in. I love to sleep with the windows open – I feel more rested and peaceful.
Today I bought two little scarecrows from the craft shop to put out by the mailbox. I wanted to get a girl and a boy, but they only had boys. So I bought two boys and took them home and made one into a girl myself. It was easy – I added red lips, eyelashes, and bangs made from the raffia that I glued under the brim of the hat. She’s lovely!
Well, I have to admit that today is my birthday. I am not going to do any work today at all. This is going to be a nice day spent with my kids and having some fun. We’ll eat out and spend as much time outdoors as we can – the weather is beautiful. I’d like to go for a long drive and just enjoy the day with my family.
My sister sent my a birthday card with some money. That was a nice surprise. Maybe I’ll use the money to buy dinner at Red Lobster tonight for everyone instead of the Burger King.
I don’t know how I missed the TV show called “Starter Wife” last year. I don’t remember hearing anything about it at all. But I happened to have the TV on an odd cable channel the other day and they were having a “Starter Wife” marathon of the entire first season shown back to back. So I got to watch quite a few of the shows. It is really very funny and the main charcter, played by Debra Messing, is just so lovable. Your heart aches for her going through a divorce and trying to make a new life for herself in Hollywood. I’m going to try to catch the second season shows this year.
Watching the news about how badly Hurricane Ike has damaged the Galveston and Houston areas has me so concerned for all thos poor people who are now homeless and have few, if any, of their possessions. I’m sure most of them only have what they could load into a car or truck and take with them when the officials told them they had to evacuate.
If I lived there I would have taken everything I could grab and stuff into my car with the expectation that nothing left behind will be there when I return. And that’s how it worked out for most of the people who lived there. It is a terrible thing to happen and my heart goes out to them.
Labor Day just kind of snuck up on me this year, I mean I knew it was coming and I’ve tossed a few ideas around on what to do on this end of the summer 3 day weekend that has now offically started as I sit my butt at home, still not committing to anything of interest what so ever.
Feeling kind of in a slump or something, it has been raining a lot as of late, I know that that has a tendency to get me in a funk sometimes. But I’ve got to shake it off and get on the phone and find out who is going where and which place I will end up attending before the whole week end slips away!
