A New Challenge

I have been approached at work about taking over their email newsletter. It is something that I have dabbled in a bit here and there since I sit right next to the gal who currently taking on this task. It isn’t all that terribly difficult, I mean they have decent enough email newsletter software that is user friendly. But I’d like to think that if I do consent to taking this project on that I’d be allowed to check into some other newsletter software that might be better. I’ve seen some pretty nice newsletters and some pretty crappy ones and I’d like to have something that I put together look as good and professional as possible.

I am always looking for new and challenging things to take on at work, so I’m really quite tickled to be considered to do this important project. It is something that I think I can be creative with and make an impression with the “upper management” at some point. I’ve been there for almost 5 years now and I don’t for see me going anyway any time soon, at least I’m pretty secure in my position there. With today’s crazy economy one never really knows do they?

In The Land Of Credit

Since the economy has turned sour on us, there are a ton of people out there that have had their credit ruined. It is a shame that our lives revolve so highly around these credit issues. We work so hard to get credit, then we struggled to keep it good and we can have it destroyed in such a short amount of time. It just doesn’t seem right.

The good news is that you can now go online and have the opportunity to compare and shop around for credit cards for people with no credit history and bad credit credit cards to find the best fit for your specific financial needs. Credit-land.com is one such online credit card application site that I spent a bit of time at earlier this week. I’d like to find a credit card that gives me some cash back for a change and I don’t have the most perfect credit these days. So I’m glad that there are sites that make this task an easier one to tackle. I can take my time and browse at my convenience with no pressure or obligations. If I find one that sparks my interest I can apply for the card right there online. I like that.

Just What We Need, More Snow

As if we really needed any more snow. Today we got four more inches of this horrible white stuff that has made our lives such a mess these past few weeks and darned if they are calling for more later on this week as well. I’m so sick of this and I just can’t wait for spring so that we can finally be rid of it all.

I’m sure that there will be plenty of flooded basements and roads washed out when we finally get warm enough weather to start melting all that has accumulated. Not something to look forward to at all.

The Right Mailbox

It is important to have a good mail box. There has been a big push in having people place their house numbers on their mailboxes, so that our emergency personnel can find the the right location to which they have been called to. I know that it is hard trying to find house numbers especially at night and in bad weather. It must really be hard to be a delivery person that is constantly trying to find the house number in order to deliver items. I can imagine it would be a real challenge and very frustrating for them.

There are so many varieties of mail boxes on the market these days. I was surfing the Internet the other day and stumbled across a site that has some really nice residential and commercial mail boxes for sale. My poor mailbox has seen better days and I’ve been meaning to purchase a new one. It is just something that hasn’t been high on my list of priorities lately, what with the holidays and now the extreme weather that we have been experiencing. But I’m thinking that when I get my tax refund check in the mail in the next couple of months that I will go back to this site that I have book marked and order a new one once and for all.

Deals To Be Found Online

I am one of many people that can not sleep at night without my Ceiling Fan on. If there isn’t any circulation going on in the room that I’m sleeping in then I can’t breathe and I’ll be miserable for the entire time. I grew up in a house that had Ceiling Fans in just about every room, my parents utilized them all year round and I’ve just become accustomed to them my whole life.

The Ceiling Fan that I have right now in my room has seen better days. I’m actually surprised that it has lasted this long since it is basically on 24/7 and has been doing so for the last 10 years. It has been making a slight noise these past few months, just enough to get on my nerves when I’m having a rough night of trying to get some sleep. So I’m thinking that now would be a good time to start looking into purchasing a new one. My sleep is important and my tax refund check should be able to cover the costs of a few things that I’ve been wanting and needing around the place.

I’ve been told and found that there is a website that offers Hansen Wholesale Ceiling Fans, so I took a gander last night and found some nice Ceiling Fans that I’d love to order. I was amazed at all of the different styles, sizes, colors of their ceiling fans. I’m leaning towards their Energy Star Ceiling Fans. I’m all about saving our precious energy and anything that I can do to help cut my energy expenses is a good thing. I like that they offer free shipping, and right now they are giving us a chance to enter a promotional code: N397926406 for their online shoppers to utilize for additional savings. There are deals out there for online shoppers and I’m all about taking advantage of all that I can find.

Super Bowl

The weather has put a damper on my Super Bowl party plans. With the 2 and 3 feet of snow that we received yesterday, most of us are snowed in big time. We lost power for over 11 hours yesterday and just now got our cable and Internet connection up and going an hour ago. This blizzard has made a mess out of everything and we are expecting more snow on Wednesday, arg………..

Take It and Run With It

It has become so much easier to purchase tickets with the coming of the Internet. I remember back in the day what a pain it was to get good (or at least half way decent) seats to an up and coming concert. Either being on the phone for hours on end or the standing in long lines that started forming in the early hours. My god people even are known to camp out in order to get tickets for some events, that isn’t anything that I’d be interested in doing, but too each his own I reckon.

I under stand that Taylor Swift tickets are becoming available and I’d really like to take my 14 year old niece to see her live on stage. She has never been to a concert and I think that a Taylor Swift concert would be a good one to start her off on. She is scheduled to be in the area and performing at the American Airlines Center on March 11. A Thursday night, (a school night)  but what the heck it will be a nice family oriented event, not a bunch of rowdy drunks or druggies that I’d be concerned with having her being in close contact with. And we all know how close we can get an a concert!

I’ve used acheapseat.com before to find Houston Rodeo Tickets, it was a pretty simple task if I remember correctly. And I’ve used them to find up and coming events and AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER TICKETS and always had good luck so that keeps me coming back. You find something good, take it and run with it, right? So I’ll see what I can come up with this time around.

Illnesses

It seems like most people I have been talking to the past couple of days are sick. The crazy weather seems to be the blame. It is 60 degrees one day and in the low 30’s the next day. I just got off the phone with my best friend and she tells me that she was taken to the E.R. yesterday, and was diagnosed with bronchitis, she sounds like she has been run over with by a train. Poor things, wish I lived closer to her I’d be stopping by with home made chicken soup, fixing her hot tea and babying her the way we like to be babied until she gets back up on her feet. But for now I guess I’ll drop a get well card in the mail and call her once a day to let her know that I’m thinking of her.

So Many Cars, So Many Decisions

My first car was a ford mustang a yellow 1967 model. Oh how I adored and loved that car. My dad paid $650 for it and it lasted me a good couple of years while I learned to master my driving skills. It survived three crashes, the last one entitled it to a new paint job, canary yellow and she sure stuck out in a crowd while she lasted. I ended up selling her for parts and then I found myself in a ford taurus that kept me on the road for many a year.

Since I have seem to have always owned and driven a Ford I find myself now looking at some other types of car. I think it is time for me to branch out and try something new. Just look at this sweet looking machine, the chevrolet hhr, I love the way it looks and am really interested in looking more into what it will take to purchase one. I could see me behind the wheel of that!

I understand that the “Cash for Clunkers” program has been extended, so I’m going to see if I qualify or not before I start getting my hopes up to awfully much. I’ve found a great website Thecarconnection.com. They have reviews, pictures, stats, along with a huge classifieds section on new and used cars. I’ve even though about looking into a prius made by Toyota. My goodness there is a lot of different makes and models to choose from these days. I have my work cut out for me, but that’s OK I like researching things and the Internet makes it so much easier to handle, it’s all good!

Very Interesting

How could I disagree?

This is a proposal seems to come from the hard-working citizens in a ground swell of disgust with congressional arrogance and duplicity. Perhaps we’ve found something that most of us (Center-Left / Independent / Center-Right), or 80% of the voters would support.

Both major political parties have been screwing us for decades and both have reason to be alarmed by the wrath of the electorate.

The proposal is to promote a “Congressional Reform Act of 2009 or 2010.” It would contain eight provisions, all of which would probably be strongly endorsed by those who drafted the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I know many of you will say, “this is impossible.” Remember, Congress has the lowest approval of any entity in Government, now is the time when Americans will join together to reform Congress, the entity that represents us.

We need a Senator to introduce this bill in the US Senate and a Representative to introduce a similar bill in the US House. Please add any ideas on how to get this done.

If all else fails, something like this needs to be added to the ballot for the next election. After what’s been going on for the past few years, I’m certain the American public will vote for these changes

*********************************************************************

Congressional Reform Act of 2009

1. Term Limits: 12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six-year Senate terms

B. Six Two-year House terms

C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms.

2. No Tenure / No Pension: A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security: All funds inthe Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.

 4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans..

 5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

 6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

 7. Congress must equally abide in all laws they impose on the American people.

 8. All contracts with past and present congressmen are void effective 1/1/10.

PLEASE REMEMBER: The American people did not give all these perks to congressmen; congressmen gave all these sweetheart deals to themselves. We need to take back the Congress.

They all seem to have forgotten: Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.
