First Snow of the Winter

I appreciate the guest post, Jamie Guy

While most people enjoy the warm summer months, which provide many outdoor recreational opportunities, I personally enjoy the winter months and am always very excited for the first snow of the winter. During the winter months, there are many fun activities that can keep people active. With the first snow of winter, I enjoy going to the local and play football with my friends. Playing football in the snow is a lot of fun because falling to the ground or being tackled is not nearly as painful.

Also, I enjoy the first snow of winter because it is a lot of fun for my dog. My dog enjoys playing in the snow and can remain active for hours at a time without being bored or running out energy. While the first snow of winter does create a lot of fun and great memories, it does wear me out after a long period of time. After playing in the snow for a few hours I enjoy going inside and relaxing by the fire while watching my satellite television.

Facebook

My friends have been bugging me to start utilizing Facebook. So one of my New Year’s resolutions is to take the plunge into the Facebook social network. But I’ll still be keeping up my blog, I’ll keep you posted. Hope Christmas was a good one folks, I’m glad it’s over for this year, next year will be here soon enough.

All Is Well

Finally got things all wrapped up and ready to go for Christmas day. Am planning on heading out on Christmas eve to my parent’s house and spending the night there as to be ready nice and early Christmas day to help out with all that needs to be done for the big day.

Gift Suggestions

My youngest sister Becky has emailed me desperate for some gift suggestions for our eldest sister (Briannah) who moved away years ago to the great state of Maine. Becky and Briannah didn’t really get a chance to establish much of a relationsip due to the large gap in ages and then living so far apart, so Becky is stuck with trying to figure out what would be a good gift to send to Briannah. So I’ve been spending some time looking around at all the various sites that sell good quality shoe, since Briannah has always been a shoe freak.

I have ordered several items from Zappos.com in the past and have always been very happy with the experiences and the products that I’ve ordered. Cole Haan has always had some awesome shoes, clothing and accessories that I’ve enjoyed and I’m sure that our sister Briannah would appreciate and enjoy their Cole Haan Air Melanie Rain Boots since she is always complaining about the cold and wet weather that she deals with up in Maine. It makes me wonder why she moved to such a cold environment the way she carries on about the cold.

Anway, Zappos offers free shipping both ways and guarantees delivery before Christmas, so I hope that my suggestion will make both of my sisters happy for the up and coming Christmas holiday that will be here before you know it.

Check out these Cole Haan Air Melanie Root Boots, aren’t they awesome looking?

AMPHIBIANS NEED MONEY TOO

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller.

He can see from her nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack.

Very politely he asks..”Miss Whack, I’d like to get a $30,000 loan to take a holiday.”

Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name.

The frog says his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it’s okay, he knows the bank manager.

Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral.

The frog says, “Sure. I have this,” and produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed.

Very confused, Patty explains that she’ll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office.

She finds the manager and says, “There’s a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000, and he wants to use this as collateral.”

She holds up the tiny pink elephant. “I mean, what in the world is this?”

The bank manager looks back at her and says…

“It’s a knick-knack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man’s a Rolling Stone.”

Squash – A Great Recipe for Summer Squash

I really enjoy getting all the veggies from people who have a garden and end up with more than they can handle so they start passing the extras to friends, family and co workers. I just received a nice basked of some yellow and green squash from one of my neighbors that I can’t wait to cook up. Squash has always been a favorite of mine and I have several different ways to cook it that I have always enjoyed preparing and serving during these hot summer months.

Many years ago I took a trip with my mother to Massachusetts, which is where she spent some time as a child and we visited several relatives all around the Boston area. One such relative served us a wonderful squash dish that I ranted and raved so much about she decided to go ahead and share the recipe with me to take home and try. So I thought that I might pass this wonderful recipe along for you to try, I hope you like it.

  • 2 lb (6) Cups) Sliced Yellow Summer Squash
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Onion
  • 1 Can Cream of Chicken soup
  • 1 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1 Cup Shredded Carrots
  • 1 8 oz Herb Seasoned Stove Top Stuffing Mix
  • 1 cup Melted Butter

Boil Squash and onion for 5 minutes and drain. Combine chicken soup and sour cream. Stir in shredded carrots. Fold in squash and onions. Combine stuffing mix and melted butter. Use a 12 x 7 casserole dish. Put half of stuffing on the bottom of the pan, then the squash mixture and top with remaining stuffing. Bake at 350 degree for 25 – 30 minutes or until heated through.

Laundry

My best friend waits until Saturday to do her laundry. I just don’t get why anyone would wait all week to do their laundry and forfeit a whole day to take card of laundry issues. I try and get one load done a day, that way I have my weekends free for things that I want to do.

The Eyes Have It

I’ve been noticing that I’m having a hard time reading, especially little tiny find print. I’m not surprised, everyone in my family have eye sight issues, it’s just that I was hoping that I lucked out some how in that area. I’ll call my eye doctor and make an appointment soon and see just what it is that I need in order to be able see better. Reading is fundamental.

So You Think You Can Dance

I really enjoy dancing and even love watching dancing, any type of dance, it’s all good. So it’s so cool that there are so many TV shows featuring dance. Tonight’s “So You Think You Can Dance” was spectacular. There is so much great talent out there that are getting a rare opportunity to show it off.
