Well who hasn’t dreamed of seeing their picture and their name in the lights and on a billboard some where. Yep that is yours truly on that billboard. With this new Picjoke.com website that I’ve been playing around on it can become a reality. I think that I would have picked a better location, but beggers can’t be too choosy can they. Now how cool is that? I’m having a ball with this and plan on passing the word to some of my friends in my email address book.
Medical Scrubs for Christmas
This year for Christmas I am thinking of purchasing a set of medical scrubs for my sister-in-law that I found online. I have found that these medical scrubs are so very comfortable and they keep you very cool during the hot summer months that have now come to an end for the year of 2011, but before we know it the summer of 2012 will be upon us and we all will be looking for nice looking clothes to wear while trying to keep cool.
My oldest sister suggested these scrubs for me to try out this summer, which I did and I couldn’t have been happier with the ones that I found and ordered online from Blue Sky Scrubs and I’d like to pass along the good things that I have found to others that I care about. So with Christmas looming ahead I am trying to pick up gift suggestions as well as the actually gifts along the way before the mad rush starts due to all of the holidays that are fast approaching us. Anything that I can find and buy online is the way to go for me, I hate going out to the malls and all the other retail stores scattered around town. It is kind of a Bah Humbug thing for me the older I get.
Searching For Disney DVD Movies
My daughter has asked me to keep my eyes open for any of the hundreds of Disney dvd movies for my granddaughter who is getting old enough to sit down and watch most of a movie. Note that I said most. What I really want to do is take my 20 month old granddaughter to see The Lion King at the movie theater that has been out a couple of weeks no, but every time I offer to take her I get shot down for some reason or another. I’m thinking that she and her finance want to take her to her first real movie experience and are just to shy to tell me so. I can understand why they would feel that way, new parents always want to do all kinds of things with their kids first before any other family member or friend does, I just wish that they would come out and say so.
Anyway I promised that I will look around to see if I can find any of the requested Disney dvd movies, there are so many of them that I’m sure I can come up with something. Am thinking that if I do find any that I will keep them until December 23rd, which will be her 2nd birthday and for Christmas gifts as well, kill to birds with one stone so to speak.
Indian Summer
I guess we are experiencing what is called “Indian Summer” it has been in the eighties and not getting much cooler in the evenings. I had to turn the air conditioner back on. I hate the thought that winter is looming, sigh…..
I’m Just Not The Trusting Type
From what I understand, the price of gold has gone up tremendously and people are flocking to the companies that are advertising cash for gold. I’m not comfortable in sending my old and unwanted gold jewelry to a company for them to determine how much it is worth through the mail. I don’t trust them and I don’t trust the US Postal Service.
Sweet Tea made the correct way

Flat Tire Issues
Been dealing with a slow leaking tire for the past couple of months. A few times a week I have had to put air into the darn thing before hitting the road and I finally got tired of dealing with it and took it yesterday to Wal Mart. They told me that I had a big gash in the side wall and a new tire was needed. So $85 later I have a new tire in place.

5 Ways Advertising is Regulated in the U.S.
To the average consumer, it might not seem like there is any regulation in the advertising industry. Consumers are constantly bombarded with ads and messages, and it seems like there is no end and no limit. However, despite what it feels like, the advertising industry is actually pretty highly regulated. Here are some interesting examples of just how ads and advertising are regulated in the United States today.
Five Ways U.S. Advertising is Regulated
In the United States, advertising is regulated most thoroughly by the Federal Trade Commission, the governing body overseeing advertisement (among other things). Although there may be other regulations imposed by states or local government bodies, the highest authority for the regulation of advertising in the U.S. is the Federal trade Commission, or FTC. Some examples of the work performed by this body, and the results of some of their labors, are as follows:
- The United States most highly regulates advertising in two categories. The first of this is in false advertising. Simply put deceptive, misleading, or false advertisements are illegal, but in reality the practice, prevention, and control of the practice is a very complex issue.
- The second most highly regulated are of advertising in the United States in in the advertising of health-related ads. Similar care is taken in the advertisement of products relating to health and the claims that these advertisers make, although again the issue is not as cut-and-dried as it might seem to be, as there are many evolving definitions of what constitutes “health” advertisement and what category of classification products fall into.
- A close competitor to these two is the regulation of advertisement for tobacco and tobacco-related products. Advertising for tobacco products has been banned in the US on TV and radio since the 1970’s; regulations have recently been expanded to include sponsorship of many forms of cultural and sporting events.
- The FTC has worked hard to restrict abuses by telemarketers, enacting laws governing practices such as Pay-per-call and Telemarketing Sales Rules, giving birth to such consumer protections as the national “Do Not Call” list.
- More and more, the development and revelation of privacy policies and truthful disclosures has become a way of life in the U.S., thanks to regulations requiring such disclosures. We often see these in the form of annual privacy policies form businesses, and the “fine print” either printed or stated in ads.
One of the biggest ways advertisers are regulated in the U.S., although not a direct rule or law, is through consumer information and education by groups like the FTC. The attitude of the FTC is that prevention is the most effective weapon against abuses and consumer exploitation, and so one of their tasks is to continually make consumers aware of their rights and the way advertising is regulated in the U.S. The FTC maintains a through websites and system of complaint resolution which is easily accessible to consumers at www.ftc.gov/index.shtml.

Too Much Spam Going On Here
Lately I have been getting way too much spam here on my blog. Each day I log in and I usually find more than 30 spammed comments. That might not sound like much to you but I’m certainly not used to it. I’m not sure what to do about it. Might have to talk with my brother (the family computer geek) and see if he can give me any tips. I’m still learning all that is involved with WordPress and my blog, but I’m enjoying the ride!
