Time For Exercise

I find myself anxious to spend more and more time outside lately. I had promised that I would start going for more walks when the weather broke so it looks like I’ve got some walking to do. I do want to go online and find a good pair of Shoes that would be good to walk in. I’m sure that I could find a good deal if I just took a little bit of time and did some searching some evening on my handy dandy laptop.

I have a pair of Sneakers that are still in good shape, but I’m not sure if I would be doing any justice to my feet, legs, back, etc buy wearing them that much. I might as well look for a good pair of Running Shoes while I’m at it. I don’t intend to keep walking for very long. I really want to start running again, but I have to start some where.

Buying shoe online doesn’t have to be a hassle. I found a great buying guide and plenty of tips for shoes online that I found to help set my mind at ease about ordering footwear via the Internet. I’m pretty good at finding good deals with reputable companies online. I’ll keep you posted………

Looking Forward to Vacation

When I was growing up, summer vacation was a very big deal. Families looked forward to school letting out for summer break and planned trips that would take them out of town for a full week or two. Part of the reason is that it would get so hot and humid that we all needed to escape the heat. But part of it was also that family time together seemed more important back in the day than it seems now.

My employer gives us a week’s paid vacation after we have worked for a full year. I wish they were a little more generous about giving us paid time off, but they don’t. However, they do expect us to use the vacation time and they do not make us feel guilty or threatened for actually being gone for a week. I know some places really discourage taking time off. some places say that if you can be gone from your post for a full week that maybe they don’t really need you there at all.

This year I plan on going to the beach and getting as far away from home as I can drive on one tank of gas. I would really like to go to Chincoteague Island and be in an area that is more concerned about wildlife and natural habitat than they care about boardwalks and mini golf. I want a nice escape from noise and crowds, and last time I went to Chincoteague it took me about 6 hours to get there. Anything farther away than 6 hours is probably smarter to fly than to try and drive.

Atlanta Georgia 55 Community

For so many years our senior citizens have flocked to Florida for a variety of reasons, the warm weather being the biggest draw. But with all things good there are some bad things. With this warm weather comes, bugs and other critters that enjoy the heat and humidity down in the Land of Sunshine. As well as the hurricanes that seem to love causing havoc all over that part of the country.

Then our seniors started heading to Arizona and New Mexico. That was a huge success, but so far away for so many folks. Then all of a sudden the Carolinas, both north and south became the popular destinations, but I fear they are filling up and now we are seeing an increase of folks heading to the beautiful state of Georgia. My folks are looking at a particular Atlanta 55 Community, which sounds promising for all concerned. I don’t really know a lot about the state of Georgia, but will start digging further online to find out more so I am more familiar with the area.

It will be so weird for my parents to be living so far south from here, but we all knew that it would happen in due time.

Womens Ski Jackets

A few months ago, a girlfriend of mine I work with was thinking about both of us going to Maine for a week for the past year or so, and stay at a ski resort and learn how to ski and or snowboard together. I thought it was a great idea, we were both in need of a vacation after a long hard year. We did come across a problem while planning our vacation though. Both of us needed a warm, thick, but stylish ski jackets, but neither of us knew where we could find any Womens Ski Jackets at a good price. So both of us took a night off after work from our busy lives, to sit down at the computer and search the net to see if we could come across any deals or good buys.

It didn’t take long at all for us to find the perfect site that we both really liked. Neither of us could decide which jacket to pick, they were all such great quality for such an awesome price.  We ended up randomly picking one they suited both of our personalities. It was immediately shipped to our homes and when I opened my package I was amazed at how nice it really was. We were both very satisfied with the results of our search. Our new jackets kept us warm and cozy couldn’t be any happier with our choice of ski jackets for us awesome trip to Maine and long after.

Kids Sitting At Home Enjoying A Snow Day, With No Snow

Winter storms have been brutal for a good amount of the country this year. We’ve had a lot of cold temperatures and rain, but not the snow that our neighbors to the north are dealing with. We thought all that might change last night, as the weatherman was calling for  2 to 5 inches of snow for this entire part of the state. Of course, officials immediately canceled school and there are thousands of kids sitting home enjoying a snow day. Except there is no snow. LOL

The air was filled with blowing snowflakes this morning when I woke up, but the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. I’m actually glad that we don’t have the snow to deal with, and I’m sure the kids are happy to have a day at home playing video games and watching TV as well as playing with all the new goodies that they got for Christmas just a few weeks ago. So hopefully these kids who should be at school aren’t causing too much grief for their parents on a day that just didn’t turn out the way that all the weathermen predicted it would be, but that isn’t much of a surprise now is it? Even with all of today’s modern technologies that are in place, they still can’t accurately predict what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

Oregon’s Coast Line

Last year I discovered Oregon and fell in love with the state’s coast line. A good friend of mine from the internet has a lodge on the Pacific Coast, just outside of Portland, but after going out there and driving around discovering the Oregon coast, I found the Klamath Falls area and the Running Y Ranch resort. This area is perfect for southern Oregon weddings, family reunions and just a great getaway to enjoy the great outdoors. The Running Y Ranch has a grand lodge and conference center that is perfect for retreats, weddings and other large organized events. They are selling building lots, too, and the chalets have a great floor plan with either two or three bedrooms that makes a perfect weekend cabin. I am seriously considering a chalet and have looked at their floor plans that are posted online. There are large windows for enjoying the magnificent views, decks, fireplaces – everything a luxury yet rustic vacation in the great outdoors demands. I can own the chalet for my personal use and for friends or family who want to get away, or I can rent it out to tourists when I don’t need it for myself. This is the perfect place for me because not only can I spend my days fly fishing in the Klamath Basin, but I can play a round of golf just steps from the Lodge. The resort has also made arrangements with a variety of local outfitters and guides who can provide everything from a day on horseback to guided ATV trail rides. I’ve not done any white water rafting in years, but this might be the year to get wet again. There is so much to do and enjoy that just one week at the Running Y Ranch isn’t going to be enough time to fit it all in.

Fog

This morning the fog was so bad on the way to work that I almost turned around and went back home to wait until the sun had a chance to burn more of it off before heading out again. I swear, I could only see about 15 feet ahead of me and to be driving on the Interstate with other cars going anywhere from 60 mph to 75 mph was just crazy. If I had a more understanding manager I would have gone back home, but I didn’t. I was so thankful to arrive at work safe and sound and almost got down and kissed the ground, but didn’t want to get dirty in my work clothes, so I said a prayer of thanks and gratitude instead.

Beach Time in January

My BFF and I have agreed that we are going to look for north carolina beach house rentals for us to stay at in January when both of our kids, who are 16 now and will be 17 by the time January rolls around, will be out of school for the MLK holiday, which if I remember correctly is January 18 -21. The rates should be really good considering it will be in the middle of winter and of course we won’t be doing any swimming in the ocean. But there will be plenty of other fun things for us to do besides swimming. Hopefully we can find something that will have a hot tub that we all can enjoy if we feel the need for water.

Breaking In My New Boots

Today was the perfect riding day. I was so thrilled when my bud Mike called and said he was on his way over on his Harley to take me for a nice long ride up the Blue Ridge Parkway. I got a chance to wear my new Motorcycle Riding Boots for the third time, it will take a few more rides to get them really broke in, but they are nice looking and comfortable, so I’m a happy camper so far with them.

I have needed a nice break on the back of a bike, I’m so thankful for my friends that keep me in mind for rides all year round.

Working Retail

Today was a great day since we finally have had the best barcode scanner installed and it works fantastically, I’m so please to say. Any body who has worked with an old faulty barcode scanner can totally relate to how awful it can make your work day and we have been dealing with this issue for over a month now, so it is long over due. So with our new and improved barcode scanner and the temperature finally getting back to a decent number, this should be a great week!
