5 Somali pirates drown with ransom share

The latest on the tremendous amount of pirating that is taking place in the Gulf of Aden, is that 5 of the pirates drowned along with their share of the 3 million dollar ransom money that was paid. Piracy is one of the few ways to make money in Somalia, and this particular bundle of cash was delivered to the deck via a parachute.

This is an ongoing situation and one that we modern day pirates are keeping close eyes on, days have certainly changed on the high seas.

As it turns out…..

My ex in-laws never seemed to be able to put a plan in place for today’s Thanksgiving meal, not surprising really, their life style is so much different from anything that I have ever had experienced in my life, so laid back and totally informal, taking one day as it comes, so to speak. Well this time their lack of commitment and planning has made the decision a bit easier this Thanksgiving, we are planning on leaving in a few hours to head to my folks for the late afternoon or early evening diner hour, not sure what time frame 4:30pm fits into! At least the weather is cooperating, it is really nice out, less bundling and layering to deal with today!

Now we have to start thinking about what is ahead of us for the Christmas Holiday plans with both families to keep in mind, argg…..

Labor Day Plans

Labor Day just kind of snuck up on me this year, I mean I knew it was coming and I’ve tossed a few ideas around on what to do on this end of the summer 3 day weekend that has now offically started as I sit my butt at home, still not committing to anything of interest what so ever.

Feeling kind of in a slump or something, it has been raining a lot as of late, I know that that has a tendency to get me in a funk sometimes. But I’ve got to shake it off and get on the phone and find out who is going where and which place I will end up attending before the whole week end slips away!

The coolest Dancing Around the World Video

I ran across a blog that I really enjoyed reading and actually took the time to make a comment one, which is a rarity for me, I generally don’t stop to take the time to register and get passwords and all that in order to leave a comment on most blogs that I read, but this time I just had to.

The site is http://www.bladam.com/ and he has a video that you just have to see if you haven’t already about “Where The Hell Is Matt”. I’m embarrassed to say that I tried and failed several times to place the link to video here on my site, and finally gave up and have just provided the link to the web-site of somebody much more sophisticated with all of this technology that I am just now beginning and struggling, at times, to learn.

So if you would like to see an awesome video that will most assuredly put a smile on your face, go ahead and check it out. In the mean time I am still going to attempt to link the video directly onto here, who knows what will happen.

A rainy week-end ahead of us

It looks like it is going to be another rainy week-end for us, this will make three in a row and I am really bummed out about it because all of my week-end plans have been planned it seems for outside activities lately. This is the middle of summer and there are so many festivities that are being cancelled that this town is becoming rather cranky about it all.

Instead I guess I’ll catch up on some reading and most likely buckle down and take care of some book and paper work that has been left on the back burner for too long. I am really hoping that next week-end we will have a nice sunny day for some fun in the sun! If not I may have to leave town or something just to get some nice weather some how, some where and maybe with some body, who knows stranger things have been known to happen!

Gas is over $4 a gallon

I can’t believe that we have actually come to where today I saw for the first time, the gas station down the street at the local corner store has now placed a number 4 after the $ sign for a gallon of gas. This has got to stop, it is affecting so many folks in this town and is consistently a very hot topic of conversation at the pub every evening.

I’m thinking about breaking out my bicycle that I haven’t ridden since God knows when, but they say it is easy to get back on a bike and take off. It certainly would be a healthy choice along side with the economical side of it. The only problem with riding a bike is that we have a very strict helmet law in this town for people who ride bicycles and I’m not crazy about wearing a helmet one bit. I mean after you take the darn thing off you have to deal with helmet head hair, ugh!
