A Biker’s Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the pad, There was nada happenin’, now that’s pretty bad.

The woodstove was hung up in that stocking routine, In hopes that the Fat Boy would soon make the scene.

With our stomachs packed with tacos and beer, My girl and I crashed on the couch for some cheer.

When out in the yard there arose such a racket, I ran for the door and pulled on my jacket.

I saw a large bro’ on a ’56 Pan Wearin’ black leathers, a cap, and boots (cool biker, man).

He hauled up the bars on that bikeful of sacks, And that Pan hit the roof like it was running on tracks.

I couldn’t help gawking, the old guy had class. But I had to go in — I was freezing my ass.

Down through the stovepipe he fell with a crash, And out of the stove he came dragging his stash.

With a smile and some glee he passed out the loot, A new jacket for her and some parts for my scoot.

He patted her fanny and shook my right hand, spun on his heel and up the stovepipe he ran.

From up on the roof came a great deal of thunder, As that massive V-twin ripped the silence asunder.

With beard in the wind, he roared off in the night, Shouting, “Have a cool Yule, and to all a good ride!”

Christmas Entertaining

Good thing that I took the last couple of days off of work to get ready for the family dinner that is being held at my parent’s house in just a few short days from now. There is always so much to get done for big events such as this with such a large family to try and accommodate and cater to every one’s needs and wants. It is a good thing that we live in the south and don’t have to worry about cold weather for Christmas and we can entertain outside if we want to and believe me we really want to with this many people attending and the number always rising with each year that passes.

My folks have a great yard with plenty of Picnic Tables for people to utilize come meal time so no one has to worry about not having a place to sit and eat at. Nothing worse than having to balance and plate and a drink on your lap, been there done that, no thank you.

There are plenty of Adirondack chairs on the front porch for folks that just want to kick back and watch the kids playing on the wonderful playground equipment that the folks take so much pride in having for all their grandchildren to enjoy all year round. I wish that I had a front porch as grand as my folks, but at least I get to enjoy theirs when I go over there for visits and family festivities.

Looking For Father’s Day Deals

I can’t help buy wonder what the Internet will be like in the next 5 or 10 years. I just can’t imagine it doing and offering any more than it all ready does, but I’m sure that there are many things in the works for us to see and use in the future. We have all ready become so dependent on our computers for just about everything we do these days, I can’t imagine life without it.

With Father’s Day coming up, we have all ready figured out what to get our Dad, but now we are working on finding something for our Grandfather, who is a recent widow and isn’t in the best of health these days. We have to find something for him that he will be able to use and to enjoy. Grandpa always enjoyed fishing, but hasn’t done much of it these past couple of years, so we are thinking about finding him a nice new fishing pole as a gift.

I found a great new site that can find deals at Savings.com. It’s a pretty cool site that you can ask, answer and save on. You submit your question, mine being “Where can I find good quality fishing poles at discount prices” then you provide them with your email address and then you sit back and wait for the answers to come straight to your email. Pretty easy right? I’ll let you know how it pans out over the next day or two.

I’m Excited About The Prospect of Attending the 2012 Olympics, London

I can’t believe that I had not heard, up until now at least, that the 2012 Olympics are scheduled to be held in London. Wow, England is having a very busy time of i,t as of late, what with the recent Royal wedding that will take some time for the place to get over that spectacular event and next thing you know that place will become busy as ever preparring for the Olympics.

I have never been a real big fan of the Olympics but attending one in person is a whole nother matter. So I am starting to think that there is chance of me making a trip overseas and getting into the Olympics scene, London style. I have always wanted to take a trip over to Europe, I mean really, who hasn’t? There is still time to save up some money, get a few other people involved as well to go, which will help reduce the cost just a bit. Not a big group of people mind you, the more people you have involved the more complicated things get so I’m thinking that a group of 3 or 4 would be perfect so I need to think of who would want to go, who will behave themselves and still have fun and who can afford the trip as well.

I have some friends, Bill and Mary, that love to travel. The last trip they took, they rented one of those lovely, enchanting apartments in Puerto Pollensa and had a great time, bringing home more pictures that a person has a right to have. I can’t figure out how they managed to do everything that they claim that they did with all of the picture taking going on with them this time. It seems that Bill has just got a nice new fairly expensive camera for Christmas and he was trying to break it in, O.K. now who believes that a camera needs to be broken in for goodness sake? Seriously, they must have at least 1000 pictures from a one week vacation, that is a lot of picture taking going on there folks.

Bill and Mary have already been talking and researching their next trip to the largest island of Greece, Crete. They are planning on renting a holiday villas in Crete and are looking fora few other folks that would like to go along with them. I’m not all that crazy about going to Greece, but maybe I can talk them in going there the following year and go to London with me instead. They would be great to travel with, the three of us have gotten long really good for over 16 years now so I don’t think that they would ruin the trip with a bunch of petty trivia that a lot of couples go through and end up doing. What a waste of everyone’s time, money and energy, which are three things that I don’t want to give up easily for a no good, no account reason, right?

Guess I’ll start looking around a bit online and see what is what over there. I don’t know anything about England, but I’m willing and able to learn, so I have a lot to learn for this exciting event that is something that I’ve wanted to do ever since I can remember. At least I don’t have to learn another language, but will have to brush up on some of their customs and stuff like that. I’m getting excited about it all, I hope that I can make it happen.

First Snow of the Winter

I appreciate the guest post, Jamie Guy

While most people enjoy the warm summer months, which provide many outdoor recreational opportunities, I personally enjoy the winter months and am always very excited for the first snow of the winter. During the winter months, there are many fun activities that can keep people active. With the first snow of winter, I enjoy going to the local and play football with my friends. Playing football in the snow is a lot of fun because falling to the ground or being tackled is not nearly as painful.

Also, I enjoy the first snow of winter because it is a lot of fun for my dog. My dog enjoys playing in the snow and can remain active for hours at a time without being bored or running out energy. While the first snow of winter does create a lot of fun and great memories, it does wear me out after a long period of time. After playing in the snow for a few hours I enjoy going inside and relaxing by the fire while watching my satellite television.

So You Think You Can Dance

I really enjoy dancing and even love watching dancing, any type of dance, it’s all good. So it’s so cool that there are so many TV shows featuring dance. Tonight’s “So You Think You Can Dance” was spectacular. There is so much great talent out there that are getting a rare opportunity to show it off.

Let The Games Begin

I just heard that the Redskins are gearing up for tomorrow which will be their first pre-season game of this up and coming professional football season. I can’t believe that football season is so close to starting all ready. Next thing you know it will be Thanksgiving and then of course Christmas will be consuming us all in no time. Really the only good thing about fall and winter is football, I’m glad that I have subscribed to the sunday ticket with my satellite provider, Direct TV. I always enjoy having friends over on Sunday’s for a good game and a good time with plenty of munchies and loads of cold beer. I have a good sized flat screen TV that makes watching the games a much better experience then it was before I invested in a big screen like I did.

My good friend, Donna from work also enjoys football, she has the Cox cable sports package and she likes to have people over on Monday for the Monday games, so it works out real well for everyone involved. We have a lot in common, other than just working at the same place and we have become pretty darn good friends these past couple of years.

So which ever is the most convenient – be it cable sports or satellite sports between the two of us we’ve got it covered. I hope the Redskins start the year with a major win over the Buffalo Bills, guess we will find out tomorrow, let the games begin!

Way Cool!

Years ago my sister and I used to go to several Rodeos a year. We really got into the whole Rodeo scene. We had our cute little western outfits, with girly cowboy hats, boots and even a bandanna once in a while. I run across parts of and pieces of our outfits here and there around the house, in the back of a drawer or in a box downstairs and it always puts a big smile on my face. We even made a cool scrapbook that my sister keeps at her place, from all the pictures that we had taken back then. I’ve got to see if she can take a moment and dig it out next time I go over to see her. It would be fun to see them again with her.

A good friend of mine just went online at work and purchased Tickets to the National Finals Rodeo that is being held in Las Vegas this December. Man what I would give to be able to go with her. Attending the National Finals Rodeo is cool enough, but to attend it in Las Vegas, way cool! Oh well, there is still time to purchase tickets, who knows maybe I’ll win the lottery, or the major football pool at the office by then! The tickets to the Rodeo aren’t the pricey issue, it would be the transportation and lodging that would be a pain. Looks like I need to start picking some lottery numbers, you can’t win if you don’t play.

Super Bowl

The weather has put a damper on my Super Bowl party plans. With the 2 and 3 feet of snow that we received yesterday, most of us are snowed in big time. We lost power for over 11 hours yesterday and just now got our cable and Internet connection up and going an hour ago. This blizzard has made a mess out of everything and we are expecting more snow on Wednesday, arg………..

So Many Cars, So Many Decisions

My first car was a ford mustang a yellow 1967 model. Oh how I adored and loved that car. My dad paid $650 for it and it lasted me a good couple of years while I learned to master my driving skills. It survived three crashes, the last one entitled it to a new paint job, canary yellow and she sure stuck out in a crowd while she lasted. I ended up selling her for parts and then I found myself in a ford taurus that kept me on the road for many a year.

Since I have seem to have always owned and driven a Ford I find myself now looking at some other types of car. I think it is time for me to branch out and try something new. Just look at this sweet looking machine, the chevrolet hhr, I love the way it looks and am really interested in looking more into what it will take to purchase one. I could see me behind the wheel of that!

I understand that the “Cash for Clunkers” program has been extended, so I’m going to see if I qualify or not before I start getting my hopes up to awfully much. I’ve found a great website Thecarconnection.com. They have reviews, pictures, stats, along with a huge classifieds section on new and used cars. I’ve even though about looking into a prius made by Toyota. My goodness there is a lot of different makes and models to choose from these days. I have my work cut out for me, but that’s OK I like researching things and the Internet makes it so much easier to handle, it’s all good!
