The Exchanging of Business Cards

We have all become very dependent on business cards these days. Even stay at home moms and dads are having their information printed on business cards to hand out as a way to exchange information with others. And just about every fast food place has a jar to place your business card in for one type of drawing or another. I’ve never actually won anything but I keep dropping mine in, you never know.

And now you can order your business cards online, for a very low price I must add. You can choose from thousands of graphics and a variety of designs to customize your business cards that are a must these days! Heck you can even make your own and print them off on your own printer at a very affordable cost if done right.

My problem is that I have been given so many various business cards that I have no place to keep them or really organized them and keep track of them. I’m sure not going to keep them all in my wallet and/or purse. I can tell you that! My purse is all ready way too heavy and overflowing, something that is always an issue that really bugs me.

You Can Call Me Aunt Betsy

It looks like I’ll be an aunt some time in Dec, my sister-in-law just announced the news to the family last night, via email of all things. It used to be that announcements such as this took place at a family dinner or functions, but since everyone is so spread out that is a rare occasion in it’s self. At least it wasn’t announced on Face Book or My Space, my mother would really have had a fit!

Since this is going to be her baby, she is going to be in need of a lot of things. Maternity Clothes being top at the list. Being pregnant can be a challenge and during the cold winter months she needs to be warm and comfortable as well. She plans on continuing working so she will be looking for and wearing professional, designer maternity clothes for many months to come.

For now she is looking online for some nice Maternity capris to keep her going until it gets cold out. There hasn’t been any pregnancies in the family for so long that no one has any hand me downs to turn her onto. It’s a good thing that she is a smart shopper and has a good nose for bargains and online is a great place to find bargains these.

All Of Our Remote Controls

I just saw a commercial advertising The Clapper, I have not seen a commercial for this item in so long that I thought that they were no longer available. Not only are still available but they have come out with The Clapper Plus, which gives you a remote control!

As much fun as been poked at this popular invention, I have to tell you that I wouldn’t mind owning one, it would be so much easier than flicking the switch in my bedroom and I wouldn’t have to get up or walk in the darkness at times.

We have all become so used to having things done for us and as quickly as possible “thank you very much” Some people actually have a box that has all of the remote control equipment that is needed for all of their electronics that we have become so accustomed to. I am so glad that I only have a few and know how to actually use them.

Spring Cleaning Time Again. . .

I mean really how hard can it be to get on your computer and go to the Google search and type in “cost of professional carpet cleaning austintexas” or “discount carpet cleaning services austin texas” or something of that nature in order for my aging aunt to get her carpets  thoroughly cleaned.  That way one of us doesn’t have to make the long drive to her place and use her very old and broken down do it yourself carpet cleaner that she has had for years, and should have thrown out ages ago in an effort to help her with her spring cleaning that she goes all out for each and every spring.

It didn’t use to be that big of a deal when more of us still lived locally or at least in the same state. But as most families have, folks have been moving further and further away as time goes by. But now that it is just a small handful and life is keeping everyone busy as bees trying to work as many jobs as they can find in these tough economic times that we have found ourselves in the middle of for way too long now.

So now we are trying to get my aunt to start using her computer more. For the most part she just uses it for emails and sending photos to friends and family. She knows her way around the keyboard and can type a million words a minute but as far as using it for researching anything or anyone is still something that she needs work and help with. Which is another task that one of needs to take by the horns with her as well, God Bless her.

Frosted Mini Wheats

I still enjoy a good old fashioned bowel of cereal now and then. My goodness there are so many varieties of cereal these days, it is just blows my mind. But then we have a huge variety of just about everything in the grocery stores now a days. Frosted Mini Wheats are my all time favorite. They have a good amount of sugar on them (good thing, or else I wouldn’t be eating them) but everything else is good healthy ingredients.

Purses and Flip Flops Are In The News

A few months ago I was hearing of all the nasty germs that were found on the bottom of purses. I have been trying to keep up with keeping my purse’s bottom side a bit cleaner and not putting on the kitchen counter or dining room table. Now the big news is about how dirty our flip flops are and how they are finding all types of gross germs on them. Guess I’ll have to start paying better attention to my flip flops now, sigh………………..

Not Sure I Like This Idea

As much as I hate germs I just don’t think I could put my flip flops in the dishwasher along with a load of dishes, that’s just wrong!

Flash Freeze

Spent so much time looking at the fresh fish counter that someone from the grocery store’s fish department actually came over and started talking to me. He asked if I was looking for anything special, and I told him I was looking for tilapia.

He pointed out the section of frozen fish that was displayed in a freezer section right next to the fresh fish counter. There a big bag of tilapia in the freezer, on sale for only $4.99 and he told me that the frozen was a better price than the fresh.

When I wrinkled up my nose at the idea of frozen instead of fresh, he explained that the fishermen catch the tilapia out on the water in big nets, and then they clean and flash freeze the fish right on board the boat. So, the frozen are actually fresher than the fresh ones that are taken back to port, cleaned on land and then put on a truck and driven for a couple of days to the stores. Isn’t that ironic? But it does make sense!

Box Tops for Education Program

It is so easy to clip the Box Tops for Education coupons that are being put on more and more food items, I even found some on the package of toilet paper that I just recently purchased. Schools are desperate for funding, and this is a really easy way to raise money for our important education systems all over.

I think schools can earn 10 cents per label and that adds up quickly with the more people that participate. If you don’t have kids attending a school you can still clip them and give them to a friend, family member, neighbor, co worker or just drop them off at your local school that is convenient for you, it’s all good, and some teachers give extra credit for each label donated, it’s all good!

Word of Honor

Took my niece to the library over the weekend. We both love to read and we enjoy going to library together now and then. It’s our time together doing things that we enjoy doing for the day.

While we were there I was looking to see if I could find “The General’s Daughter” by Nelson DeMille. He is the author of the book “Up Country” that I just finished reading a few days ago. I couldn’t find that particular book but I did see that he has several books out that I look forward to reading in the near future. In the mean time I picked up “Word of Honor” by Mr. DeMille and so far, so good.

Important Stem Cell News – Re Posted

I remember reading this article, can’t believe it has been six years since this was announced. I thought enough of this information to post it here on May 1, 2009 and am still excited about it and wanted to re-post it today.

Press Release:
Taking Control: Future Therapies for a Host of Serious Diseases May Be Found in Women’s Menstrual Blood July 07, 2008: 01:28 PM EST

OLDSMAR, Fla., July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ – With today’s hectic lifestyle, where most women are juggling careers, family, relationships, and a host of activities, the idea of possibly facing a serious illness in the future is not something that readily comes to mind – especially when a woman is in the prime of her life. But what most women don’t know, is that the key to treating a number of possibly life-threatening diseases that she, a parent, a sibling or even her children may face in later years, such as osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, blood clots, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, may be found within her own body – in vital stem cells, which can now be harvested from her own menstrual blood.

Now, thanks to the revolutionary research and technology of C’elle, a service dedicated to providing women with a safe and easy method of collecting and preserving stem cells found in her menstrual fluid each month, even the busiest woman can take control of her future, right in the privacy of her own home. With C’elle’s non-invasive collection process, menstrual cells are processed and cryo-preserved (stored at a very low temperature) for potential cellular therapies that may be used in the future. These self-renewing cells one day may even be used for sports medicine or cosmeceutical treatments, such as anti-aging therapies.

“C’elle enables and empowers a woman to take control of her future health, and possibly of those genetically closest to her, in a fast, painless and stress free way,” said Michelle Kay, Marketing and Sales Manager for C’elle. “We live in exciting times, as science and technology are discovering how extremely valuable menstrual blood stem cells really are, and the enormous treatment potential they represent for future therapies. C’elle’s ongoing research is supporting these promising findings.”
