Fluffernutter

One of my favorite sandwiches are made with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff. My mother used to make us these sandwiches when we were kids and they were always a big hit. It has become one of my comfort foods that usually makes me feel better, when wanted and needed.

I had no idea that they had named this old favorite as a Fluffernutter! Kind of catchy!

Do You Want to Be A Mermaid or a Whale?

Recently, in a large city in Australia, a poster featuring a young, thin and tan woman appeared in the window of a gym.

It said, “This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?” A middle-aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.

To Whom It May Concern,

Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans.) They have an active sex life, get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins stuffing themselves with shrimp. They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia , the Bering Sea and the coral reefs of Polynesia . Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CDs. They are incredible creatures and virtually have no predators other than humans. They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone in the world.

Mermaids don’t exist. If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? They don’t have a sex life because they kill men who get close to them, not to mention how could they have sex? Just look at them … where is IT? Therefore, they don’t have kids either. Not to mention, who wants to get close to a girl who smells like a fish store? The choice is perfectly clear to me: I want to be a whale.

P..S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver, and a piece of chocolate with my friends. With time, we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So we aren’t heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy. Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, ¨Good grief, look how smart I am!¨

Fund Me Please

Using Gift Certificates as gifts has become a life saver for me. There are so many people that I am obligated to purchase gifts for all throughout the year, not just at Christmas time that it becomes a real challenge to find the perfect gift while not spending an arm and a leg.

A good amount of these people are musical so Musician’s Friend has a go fund me way to purchase Gift Certificates online, with no shipping, no expiration date and can be purchased at any denomination that you please, I have used them before in the past and they seem to go over well so I do believe that I will continue doing so.

I Like FREE!

I’ve known several people that sign up with various sites that offer all types of Free Stuff, which is something that I’ve never really gotten into. I am an avid coupon user and I take advantage of numerous rebates, which can really add up, and I certainly like the sound of “Freebie” so I’ve looked around a bit and found thefreebiesource dot com which is a really cool site that links you up with other sites that offer Freebies, discounts, samples, promotion codes, coupons and the like and I thought that I would spread the word about this site here today.

I do enjoy finding a good deal or stumbling onto a really good customer service representative (live or on the phone) these days there is a lot to complain about, and rightfully so, so the good things are so much more positive and don’t drain and suck me dry of all thoughts and concentration. I’ve always thought that if we all just did one good deed or be a good Samaritan each day the world would be a much nicer and brighter place for everyone. Telling people where to go to get free stuff is my good deed for the day.

Spring Cleaning Time Again. . .

I mean really how hard can it be to get on your computer and go to the Google search and type in “cost of professional carpet cleaning austintexas” or “discount carpet cleaning services austin texas” or something of that nature in order for my aging aunt to get her carpets  thoroughly cleaned.  That way one of us doesn’t have to make the long drive to her place and use her very old and broken down do it yourself carpet cleaner that she has had for years, and should have thrown out ages ago in an effort to help her with her spring cleaning that she goes all out for each and every spring.

It didn’t use to be that big of a deal when more of us still lived locally or at least in the same state. But as most families have, folks have been moving further and further away as time goes by. But now that it is just a small handful and life is keeping everyone busy as bees trying to work as many jobs as they can find in these tough economic times that we have found ourselves in the middle of for way too long now.

So now we are trying to get my aunt to start using her computer more. For the most part she just uses it for emails and sending photos to friends and family. She knows her way around the keyboard and can type a million words a minute but as far as using it for researching anything or anyone is still something that she needs work and help with. Which is another task that one of needs to take by the horns with her as well, God Bless her.

Purses and Flip Flops Are In The News

A few months ago I was hearing of all the nasty germs that were found on the bottom of purses. I have been trying to keep up with keeping my purse’s bottom side a bit cleaner and not putting on the kitchen counter or dining room table. Now the big news is about how dirty our flip flops are and how they are finding all types of gross germs on them. Guess I’ll have to start paying better attention to my flip flops now, sigh………………..

Not Sure I Like This Idea

As much as I hate germs I just don’t think I could put my flip flops in the dishwasher along with a load of dishes, that’s just wrong!

Home Schooling

More and more people are turning to home schooling their children for various reasons these days. I know several good folks that are taking their time to make sure that their kids get the right education that meets their requirements and satisfaction, it isn’t always about religion any more. I know back in my day the only people that were home schooled were being kept out of public schools for religious reasons and most people just didn’t understand that concept.

And now there is the Internet available for people to use to help home schoolers with all kinds of subjects and courses. I ran into co worker today that was busy printing out some adding fractions worksheets that she found online to give to her sister who is homeschooling her three kids. I didn’t give her any grief for using the copier, it’s to help with these kids education and who could possibly have an issue with that.

Word of Honor

Took my niece to the library over the weekend. We both love to read and we enjoy going to library together now and then. It’s our time together doing things that we enjoy doing for the day.

While we were there I was looking to see if I could find “The General’s Daughter” by Nelson DeMille. He is the author of the book “Up Country” that I just finished reading a few days ago. I couldn’t find that particular book but I did see that he has several books out that I look forward to reading in the near future. In the mean time I picked up “Word of Honor” by Mr. DeMille and so far, so good.

Important Stem Cell News – Re Posted

I remember reading this article, can’t believe it has been six years since this was announced. I thought enough of this information to post it here on May 1, 2009 and am still excited about it and wanted to re-post it today.

Press Release:
Taking Control: Future Therapies for a Host of Serious Diseases May Be Found in Women’s Menstrual Blood July 07, 2008: 01:28 PM EST

OLDSMAR, Fla., July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ – With today’s hectic lifestyle, where most women are juggling careers, family, relationships, and a host of activities, the idea of possibly facing a serious illness in the future is not something that readily comes to mind – especially when a woman is in the prime of her life. But what most women don’t know, is that the key to treating a number of possibly life-threatening diseases that she, a parent, a sibling or even her children may face in later years, such as osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, blood clots, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, may be found within her own body – in vital stem cells, which can now be harvested from her own menstrual blood.

Now, thanks to the revolutionary research and technology of C’elle, a service dedicated to providing women with a safe and easy method of collecting and preserving stem cells found in her menstrual fluid each month, even the busiest woman can take control of her future, right in the privacy of her own home. With C’elle’s non-invasive collection process, menstrual cells are processed and cryo-preserved (stored at a very low temperature) for potential cellular therapies that may be used in the future. These self-renewing cells one day may even be used for sports medicine or cosmeceutical treatments, such as anti-aging therapies.

“C’elle enables and empowers a woman to take control of her future health, and possibly of those genetically closest to her, in a fast, painless and stress free way,” said Michelle Kay, Marketing and Sales Manager for C’elle. “We live in exciting times, as science and technology are discovering how extremely valuable menstrual blood stem cells really are, and the enormous treatment potential they represent for future therapies. C’elle’s ongoing research is supporting these promising findings.”

Dental Practices

One of my big fears that I must over come twice a year, is a fear of dentists. When I was a kid my mother used to take me to this Dentist that had bad breath and a bad attitude to go along with it. I remember he would give me a hard time about plucking my eye brows. He believed that eye brows where the gate way to the soul or some such nonsense, I would always come out of that dentist office feeling bad about my self and wishing that I never would have to go back, although his office was decorated with a fascinating fish aquarium and some wonderful seascape paintings that I loved looking at.

I’m so glad that I found the perfect dentist for me to take care of my teeth. I actually found him online at. For over twenty years they have been matching patients up with quality dentists and I’ve told many people about them over the years. Not only do they find dentists in your area but they have good dentistry information that has come in handy for me through out the years.

All you need to do is type in your zip code and click on the type of dentistry service you are looking for, such as a cleaning, braces, whitening, fillings, dentures, caps, root canals and the like, and you will be guided to the appropriate listings of dentists for you to review and choose from. Pretty easy pickings.
