Checking Out The Wind Instruments

Things with my daughter at school have been crazy due to after school activities, sports, or her friends events. When she isn’t busy doing any of those things, she is sitting in her room watching TV. Which is something Id rather her not waste her time doing so I had recently signed her up at school to play an instrument with one of her very close friends in hopes that it would keep her busy enough to keep her away from the TV, and to also get her to learn and appreciate music in a whole new light.

They class requires the student to purchase their own instrument that they are interested in learning how to pay. I had a night all to myself while she was over at a friends house for the night, so I took advantage of it to search around for any wind instruments I think she would enjoy playing. I found a neat site that offers just that in no time. I ordered it immediately due to its unbelievable price, and when I had showed up my daughter had gotten home just an hour after and she was so excited to try it out before she went to class to show it to her teacher.

She sounded like a natural, and ever since she has learned how to play a few select songs for school, she has been on it non stop. I couldn’t be any happier to finally have found something she can enjoy and use her time to learn the beauty of music she can make.

Looking Forward to Vacation

When I was growing up, summer vacation was a very big deal. Families looked forward to school letting out for summer break and planned trips that would take them out of town for a full week or two. Part of the reason is that it would get so hot and humid that we all needed to escape the heat. But part of it was also that family time together seemed more important back in the day than it seems now.

My employer gives us a week’s paid vacation after we have worked for a full year. I wish they were a little more generous about giving us paid time off, but they don’t. However, they do expect us to use the vacation time and they do not make us feel guilty or threatened for actually being gone for a week. I know some places really discourage taking time off. some places say that if you can be gone from your post for a full week that maybe they don’t really need you there at all.

This year I plan on going to the beach and getting as far away from home as I can drive on one tank of gas. I would really like to go to Chincoteague Island and be in an area that is more concerned about wildlife and natural habitat than they care about boardwalks and mini golf. I want a nice escape from noise and crowds, and last time I went to Chincoteague it took me about 6 hours to get there. Anything farther away than 6 hours is probably smarter to fly than to try and drive.

That Darned Check Engine Light

I’ve noticed that my check engine light has been on for the past few weeks and I guess I really need to get it checked out in case it is something serious. God I hope not. It drives me crazy when that light comes on, I don’t always have time to take my Ford R-150 to an auto shop to see what is going on. Although most shops are not as busy as they would like to be, due to the economy, so the waiting time isn’t as bad as it used to be, but I still hate taking the time out of my busy schedule to tend to things such as this. It is never a quick fix and even with an appointment you still can end up waiting for way too long.

I’ve a friend who just started working at a nice local auto repair shop that tells me that busy has really slowed down and they are looking for business big time and is urging me to bring the truck to them this Saturday.  Since my friend is working there I feel confident that I will not be ripped off and will be taken seriously about the light issue and my financial situation at this point.

Virtual Yard Sales

The last time I held a yard sale I swore that I would never, ever do that again and by golly I meant it. There is so much time and work involved in pulling off a good prosperous yard sale, garage sale, lawn sale, moving sale, or what ever you want to call the reselling of your unwanted personal items to the general public.

Just collecting the stuff, cleaning and fixing what needs to be done in order to get $ for it and then having to figure out what price to charge and put a price tag on each and every piece of merchandise is enough to through me over the edge. You have to be careful on what type of price tag to use and where to put it in order to not damage the item and reduce the value just because the placement of the right type of price tag wasn’t thought out. I know I am a bit OCD when it comes to things like that but we all have our quirks right?

Dealing with the public is another issue. The early birds that come to get the best deal are a real pain in the neck. All you want to do is get your stuff out there and set up and you have these people digging around and asking you questions! And then there is the clean up and figuring out where to put all the stuff you didn’t sell, ugh.

It’s no wonder more people are turning to the Internet for deals at various virtual yard sales and other websites other than eBay and Craigslist.

Panton Chairs

After I wrote my last post that was suggesting the use of the now popular Panton Chairs – I started thinking that I should take a look at what types of Panton Chairs and other furniture  are available today. I found some wonderful websites and gained a good amount of knowledge about this space aged look type of chair. I would love to try one out and see how comfortable they are. I love the look, but with furniture I must insist on sitting on it, if that is what it was intended to be used for!

These are so abstract and the colors (and believe me there are plenty of other colors available as well) are so brilliant. They just seem to cheer me up. Check out and tell me what you think about these chairs and/or any of the other wonder products that they have there that have me so excited.

Toddler Room: Panton Chair, Toys and More

Do you have a kid who is starting to learn how to play games? Do you plan on building a playroom just for him to enjoy? Are you having problems on what to place inside this room once it is finished? If your answer to all these questions is a resounding yes, then you should continue reading.

In any type of room, proper furniture and fixtures should be placed to add life and beauty to the room. The same is the case when developing a toddler’s room for your child or children. Here are some of the objects which should be present inside the room:

  • Toys – These things should always be present inside the playroom. Aside from the fact that they are the primary entertainment of your kids, they also keep them busy while you are doing the dishes or ironing the clothes. However, you have to make sure that you only place those toys which have been certified safe for children.
  • Coloring materials – According to research, there are two main activities which children do inside a playroom – play or color. Once they get tired of playing, they will look for another activity that looks fun but does not require as much energy as playing does.
  • Books – If your child has already reached five or six years old, it would greatly help him if you would include some educational books to entertain him. Make sure to spend some quality time with him every once in a while.
  • Panton chair – A room would not be complete without a decent and quality piece of furniture that your kids can sit on. This particular chair is not only safe, but also comes in different colors.
  • Mat – A playing mat or foam is vital in any playroom. If possible, it should cover the entire floor area of the room to keep your kids away from injuries due to excessive playing.
  • Air conditioner – Of course, you would want your child to feel comfortable whenever he goes to the playroom. If this is not possible, two electric fans would do.
  • Miniature playground – This is definitely not a requirement, but if you can afford it, then make sure you provide it. You may place a small seesaw, swing, and slide inside the room to keep your child and his friends busy.

These are just some of the objects, things and pieces of furniture which you should include inside your child’s playroom the moment it is finished. Among all these factors, the Panton chair may be one of the most crucial. Getting a sturdy and stable chair is very important to avoid accidents and other untoward incidents.

This specific chair design has been developed several decades ago, yet it has still managed to become popular in this time and age. Sporting a future and space theme, the Panton chair is a chair that will definitely get the attention of kids. And because it has a unibody design, you would not need to worry about creaking parts and features which get damaged easily.

Gift Cards!!!

I really love how gift cards have become so popular for people to use and receive as presents these days. I managed to receive a nice little bundle of them this year and look forward to using them for things that I find and want. I love the challenge of researching and comparing products online. It beats the heck out of going out and dealing with all the issues that go along with shopping and believe me I have a lot of issues with shopping. I’ve become so spoiled by the Internet that I just don’t see the need to go out when I can stay in and get much better deals, better service and a whole lot bigger selection online.

I have a few items that I will be looking into soon, some new linens and bedding for my new mattress is definitely in order. I’ve been waiting for after Christmas see what selections are reduced. From Clothes to Home Furnishings and Decor, there are just a massive amount of savings to be found with having Internet access, you gotta love it! I use ShopWiki.com a lot and would urge anyone into checking them out when venturing out there.

Flat Panel Stands

Hubby and I had recently gotten married and have finally moved into a home we can call our own. We have all of the furniture, pictures and décor up, but are lacking on flat panel stands for our new TV’s we have accumulated over the last couple years together, and a wall mount for my daughter’s TV. A few family members have offered to give us a table or something nice to put them on, but we want to buy a new mount and stands.

I searched throughout all the stores around town to compare prices but didn’t find anything that fits our taste or our budget. I came to the conclusion that I might be able to find something I’m looking for a little easier online. I took a night to search around the net and it didn’t take me long to find some awesome deals for some outstanding stands and mounts for our TV’s at a unbelievably great price.

I ordered 2 flat panel stands and one wall mount, and shipping was absolutely free! When they arrived at our home, we couldn’t have been any happier to set them up and finally put our TV’s to good use. We are all very thrilled to have home completely done up and ready for us to spend a great deal of time together in and enjoy all the years ahead.

Ladies Night Out

Once in a blue moon I’ll go out with some friends to a bar/restaurant for dinner and drinks. I can’t afford to go out as often as I would like to, but we are all experiencing hard times at this point with the economy in crisis and all. I’m trying to save as much money as possible, when ever I can, so when we do head out we try and make it on a Ladies Night, where the drinks are  more affordable for all us.

Last week we decided it was due time for a ladies night out and we went to our favorite “hole in the wall” and had a blast. We had a designated driver and all went well. No fights broke out, no one got so drunk that they ended up throwing up in the ladies room or the parking lot and each of us were able to go to work the next morning without a hitch.

We really enjoy going to this “hole in the wall” bar/restaurant. The waitresses are always nice and the owners are really great people that are just trying to keep their doors open with the rising costs that they are having to deal with. So we don’t mind throwing our business to them, when we are able to. The only problem is that they don’t have any foot rails for the patrons that end up sitting at the bar, so much of the night was discussing the issue with the owners. I think we made our point, they have consented to looking into the matter for us. So the next time we go I hope that they will have found some that they can afford to have installed and we all should be happy!

Popular Birthday Months

With some of the tax money that I have finally gotten back from the IRS I will be able to purchase a few birthday gifts that are needed for the busy birthday month of May. May and September are popular months for so many of my friends and family for some reason. With the month of March coming in third place. I didn’t have much cash (and I’m not using my credit cards for presents) in March, so it will feel good to be able to have a few bucks to make sure that the folks that celebrate their birthday in May will be happy with me this year.

My brother has been talking about position indicators, so I thought I would look around online and see what is out there. My mother is hinting at needing new drinking glasses. I have all ready found the perfect ones that I am going to order this weekend. My niece is a whole different issue. I still can’t figure out the perfect gift for her. Tweens are so difficult to buy for. Besides she is spoiled rotten and is given any and every thing that she needs and wants. One of lives many challenges when it comes to buying appropriate gifts that will be appreciated.
