Finding the right kind of gifts for guys has always been a challenge for me throughout the years. So I was really tickled to find at smallflower.com some really unique products by edwin jagger that he has manufactured with a mixture of traditional English quality and style as well as adding to some pretty cool state of the art designs. It will be good to be able to give some gifts to the guys in my life that they just might actually like, enjoy, appreciate and use, instead of just some crap that was bought in haste without much thought or caring put into the whole process.
My Brother the “Golden Child”
My oldest brother has to be the hardest person to buy gifts for on the entire planet. I always have a hard time finding gifts for the male species, but my brother is just the worst. He has been the “golden child” as far back as I can remember, he could do no wrong at home or school and now is happily married with children, has a good job and lives on a working farm that takes up most of his time. He has basically every thing that he ever wanted and needs in life, sigh……
He will be celebrating his 35th birthday come this February, a huge party is in the planning, but I still have to find and buy him a gift for the occasion. I have a few months but am getting anxious about the whole ordeal. The only thing that I can think of that I know he would appreciate is something to do with his John Deere tractor that he spends so much time on in the evenings and weekends.
I believe that his would appreciate some new HID equipment lights for his beloved tractor. By the time he gets home, eats dinner, and then spends some time with kids it can be pretty late by the time he gets to his tractor so it would make sense to have a good quality lighting system in place to help him see where he is going and all. So I’ve spent a little bit of time on the Internet checking out the various HID products, so far MagnaLight has the best, I’ll have to ask my Dad for a second opinion, so I’ll make sure to send him the links for his guidance and approval.
New Bathroom Flooring Is In Order
My bathroom flooring has become such a disaster that I’ve had just about enough of it and have got to buckle down and find the right replacement bathroom flooring. My brother-in-law, bless his heart, installed the flooring that is in there now and just like everything else that this man gets his hands on, it was a disaster right from the start. He didn’t use the right materials, nor the corrects tools and now I am stuck with the nastiest looking and feeling (yes feeling, it is all uneven, cracking and breaking up) bathroom floor that I’ve ever had the displeasure of stepping on.
This morning I could have sworn that I sliced my foot on the tiles in front of toilet. Thank goodness it didn’t really break the skin, but it came darned close. Having a cut on the bottom of your foot can really ruin your day, that’s a hard place to heal (excuse the pun, if you will) and band aids don’t want to stay on anywhere on feet so I consider myself very lucky that it didn’t go that far.
I am thinking that this time I should stay away from tiles and look for something that comes all in one piece that just needs to be rolled out, cut to size, along with some hard core glue to keep it from coming up and go from there. Instead of running around all over town looking at the various home improvement stores to find what I want and what I can afford, I’ll be spending my time looking online instead. Sounds like a plan to me.

Basement Wet & Nasty
Fix Wet Basement and have it waterproofed, these are my latest chores to be addressed, and ones that I have not looked forward to starting, but has now become necessary, I can only hope that I haven’t waited too long. When I can’t come up with someone that I know or am related to, to give my business to, it has become useful to use the Internet to find what you are looking for, which in this case it did provide me with a company with a website of B-dry.com that looks promising.
They have been in business since 1958, that is half of a decade, a good long time to be in business. An interesting tool is on their website, a tab labeled WET BASEMENT ANALYZER TOOL, which takes you to a page where you click on whatever your issue is and it tells you what could be the cause of your leaking basement might be, which I gave a try and it pretty much confirms what I believe to be the case in our wetness issues.
I have filled out the request for a Free Estimate and hope to hear from someone tomorrow, would like to go ahead and get this ball rolling.
Arts and Crafts Online
We keep hoping that an arts and crafts store will open up here in town. We used to have a Ben Franklins but that closed down years ago so now we have to drive almost an hour to get to a store to buy the arts and crafts that we want and need. Walmart has some items but for the most part we get our art supplies from MisterArt.com which is a great place to get all kinds of arts and crafts supplies at some great prices. Thank goodness for the Internet once again.
My Brother’s Latest Technologies
I had a problem with my home computer this morning. Well, actually it was the printer. It stopped working. So I called my brother in a panic and he couldn’t do much over the phone so on his lunch break he came over to take a look. Of course, he had it fixed in no time – he’s so good with all this computer stuff. He had a minute to show off his latest gadget – a new iPhone. I haven’t seen one yet and I’m not surprised my brother got one – he always wants the latest and greatest gadgets.
The iPhone is really cool and he showed me a special clear case called Invisibleshield that he bought and put over the iPhone. You can’t even tell that it has a case on – it is really invisible unless the light catches it just so. The clear case protects the iPhone from any dirt and dust in the air. Since my brother wears his on his belt and rides a motorcycle, I guess the clear case is a very good idea.
A Whole New World
Due to so many people urging me to, I have gone ahead and started an account on Facebook. It is a whole new world to me and it will take me a bit to get it all figured out but so far so good. It’s only been a few weeks and all ready I have a ton of “friends” and several people that I’ve known from years ago have contacted me through it’s search features, you gotta love it.
Just last night I found that a friend from elementary school had found her way to my account. She provided me with her phone number and we talked for over an hour on the phone last night. Thank goodness for my unlimited long distance that I currently have on my land line. She is living in Denver Colorado, married with children and living the life, which is so good to hear. Both she and her husband are secure in their jobs, are in good health and live in a nice house in a nice neighborhood.
Her biggest news was that she and her husband were both experiencing weight issues so they decided to go over to the U.K. where she received the tummy tuck surgery that has become so popular these days and her husband had liposuction done on him. They incorporated a vacation away from the kids and had the surgery done at the same time. She sent me the before and after pictures of them and I have to say that I’m impressed. It’s good to know that the economy hasn’t played havoc on everyone that I know.
Email Marketing Options
Was reading an interesting blog post about email marketing that my sister sent to me in a link on Facebook. As I have mentioned we are in the process of starting our own small family run and owned business and we are looking at various marketing options. The Yellow Pages are out of the question, it’s all about the Internet these days and those advertising options are a whole new ballpark for us. We have a lot to figure out, but we have plenty of time and aren’t going to rush into anything, baby steps, we want to do this thing right the first time.
The Right Tool for The Job
All website owners need an extra informational resource, you know something to help us with optimizing search engines, Online Marketing and web resources. I have found that websiteoffice.com offers me a lot of helpful stuff and even explains to me how to use it all, not the ordinary “we’ll let you download it but you figure it out so deal” This tool has made a lot of my web hosting a lot easier to bear and really less time consuming than going to multiple websites for all the same tools that I’m finding here folks
