Splashlight Miami, 10 Years and Still Going Strong

On June 6th, 2012 the well known Splashlight Miami celebrated their 10 year anniversary down in Miami Florida, the well known and loved sunshine state that attracts millions and millions of people each year for a variety of reasons, with the weather, of course, being the main attraction. For those of you who aren’t “in the know” Splashlight Miami is the most trusted equipment rental house in Miami and is doing a booming business for folks looking for photography and video production services.

I was taking a look at their website and checked out their “Client List” and was impressed with all the people and companies that have used this breath taking rental house. See what I mean:

Pretty impressive, wouldn’t you agree. Figured I’d share the list here today so others can see what Splashlight Miami is all about and all that it has to offer.

The C.D. Turns 30 Today

Today it will be 30 years to the day that the C.D. (compact disc) came out and was put on the market. 30 years ago, isn’t that a trip? And from what I understand it was Billy Joel that can claim to be the first artist to come out on the C.D. in Japan with his 52nd Street album. The first C.D. player came out the very same day. An interesting piece of trivia that I wanted to share.

Pop Stars and Their Demands Backstage

I found this list of backstage demands of Pop Stars on Yahoo and thought them to be so very outrageous and had to share them here.

• David Hasselhoff: Life-size cut-out of David Hasselhoff.

• Sammy Davis Jr: Assortment of groovy chicks.

• Britney Spears: Two boxes of Pop Tarts. Fruit Loops. Cable television. Two 6ft sofas. Odor-free carpet. A phone line.

• Led Zeppellin: Iron. Ironing board.

• Janet Jackson: Chaise lounge. Ten black roses. Male catering staff.

• Beyonce: Pepsi products only. Honey Nut Cheerios. Ginger root. A two-man love seat. Toilet scrubbed with disinfectant. No sweets, chocolate or chips in dressing room.

Boom box. Bouquet of white flowers. Cheddar cheese and sour-cream chips. Sweet Tarts. A $300,000 bullet-proof Maybach.

The Power of Search Engines

You just gotta love how you can go to a search engine, take Google for example, and type in just a few smart keywords such as “commercial litigation lawyers raleigh nc” and come up with some wonderful sites that fit the bill to a tee. I’m not sure if everybody really understands the power of search engines these days on the Internet, but I do know that more and more people are refusing to use the old fashioned paper version of their local residential and commercial phone books such as The Yellow Pages. I know mine go straight into the cardboard recycling bin as soon as I find them on the front porch or in the driveway. Who needs those when you have the power of the Word Wide Web at your finger tips.

Finally Some Hope

Ever since I can remember my uncle has been sickly. It seems that shortly after leaving the Navy, back in the Vietnam era, he has suffered in many ways. He is such a great guy and is married to a wonderful woman, they have no kids but quickly became involved with their nieces and nephews lives and have brought a lot of goodness and kindness to us all throughout the years.  We just love them both to pieces and we just hate to see him suffer so much.

I’m glad to hear that he has finally taken the steps to find a good Mesothelioma Lawyer. My aunt went online and Googled “Mesothelioma Attorney” and she quickly found one in their area and they have an appointment next week to meet with this guy. His specialty is in this Mesothelioma Disease that we are hearing so much about on the television these days. I believe that it takes someone who does specialize in certain areas and knows as much as possible about the subject of his specialty. This is true not only in doctors, but attorneys as well and I’m so glad that my uncle now has someone who will possibly help him in his struggle with this whole mess.

July 4th, Independence Day!

My daughter just called to tell me all about her exciting night watching the fireworks with her Dad and all of his family at their local park. They were afraid that they were going to be rained out so she was getting a bit anxious about it all, but the rain apparently held out long enough to provide an “awesome firework show” for them after all.

I myself just stayed home and watched all of the firework displays that were being aired on the television set, I really love the one that they do in Washington, D.C. One day I would like to be able to witness that celebration during a visit to our Nation’s Capital, that would be something to experience!

Girl Scout Cookies

I was just reading that the Girl Scout’s had to make a decision, either raise the cost of their boxes of cookies, or make the cookies and their packaging smaller. They didn’t want to raise the cost, so they decided to make them smaller instead. I think it is a good decision, smaller is better, all the way around.

A sign of the times folks!

Goodnight Irene

I’ve tried to stay up and weather the storm, but I’m too pooped. It has been a long day getting ready for hurricane Irene. So far so good, we still have power and no one has called to say that they are having any major issues, so I’m hitting the sack for now.

It’s Always All About The Money

I’m glad that I was sent a link to a web site that explains the risks of day trading. I have been hearing a lot about online trading, but it has all been good and positive things about it and not one word of caution about it at all. Not that I have any money to do any investing with at this point and time. But one day I hope the economy will let up and we can start enjoying life the way we used to before our government screwed it all up for us.

If you want to read about the risks of day trading you can go to daytradingcenter.net and read about it there as I did.

“EYES ON THE PRIZE” TOUCHES THE SOUL

Thanks to Roman May

What started out as a typical movie night at a girlfriend’s house, ended up in a historical lesson neither of us will ever forget. That night the Public Broadcasting Station began the airing of the documentary “Eyes on the Prize”. This is an award winning documentary about the American Civil Rights Movement and covers the period from 1954 to 1985.

The documentary is a series lasting 14 hours. My girlfriend would record the program from her directstartv.com and we would parcel it out over seven viewings. Be prepared, it will hook you and you will find a way to watch all 14 hours.

There were so many aspects of the documentary that fascinated the history buff in me, naming one is impossible. The power of one to ignite action as shown through the footage of the Montgomery Bus Boycott sparked by the arrest of Rosa Parks for refusing to give up her bus seat to a white person was inspiring. How can you forget the footage of the hanging of Emmett Till, a 14 year old boy, because of his color? The documentary is filled with various aspects of the movement including the Freedom Rides, passage of the Voting Rights Act, and, of course, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Eyes on the Prize” leaves an impression on your soul. That’s why it is my favorite.
