Custom Built Homes In Florida

Found an interesting article about mobile manufactured homes. Some people call them trailers. So I think you would probably want to call this futuristic manufactured home a “Jetson’s Trailer.” The home is manufactured and sells for much less than a stick built home. It has a few options, but the main design is for the home to be easily assembled on a prepared level home site and provides the basic functional rooms that a modern family or retired couple might need with a lot of modern touches and energy efficiency built-in.

If I were to have my dream house I would turn to a Fl Home Builder since there isn’t any other place that I would want to live out my life at. There are many ideas that I have been entertaining about the way I would want my dream house to be set up and with what appliances that it makes my head spin just thinking about them all.  I swear I don’t see how people are able to make the thousands of decisions that come along with the building of their custom-house.

I just know that I want a fireplace, the washer and dryer need to be on the main floor. The kitchen must be easily accessible to the bringing in of the inevitable groceries and other purchases. And my refrigerator needs to have a see-through door and have an ice maker. Those are just a couple of ideas that I’ve been thinking about, not that I ever plan on having enough money to build my own custom home, but stranger things have been known to happen, right?

Location, Location, Location . . .

I really don’t know what all the hoopla is about with not being able to use any information that is found on Wikipedia.org. I have been relying on Wikipedia for a very long time and have rarely come across anything questionable, not quite looking and/or sounding right. My niece was sharing with me on Face Book last night that she has an essay due next week and is having a hard time finding resources that are helpful and acceptable by her teacher. This teacher is telling her class that she will not accept anything turned in that used Wikipedia as a resource and/or a reference, which is something that just surprised me and caught me off guard at that moment.

Her school library doesn’t have the book she needs, nor do the 5 county libraries that are within an hour’s drive of her house has the book(s) either. They live way out in the boonies which is a pain in the rear – at least they do have Internet access, which several people in that little town don’t have at all. I just can’t image living out in the country. I need all my things right there, easy enough for me to get around efficiently enough.

Hardwood Flooring Options For Kitchen and Front Room

Since I’ve been doing an awful lot of self-re-evaluation while upgrading my home and living conditions. I’ve been giving thought to possibly just ripping up the entire floor in the kitchen as well as the front room, so I’m not sure if it’s because I hate the stupid floors, or because I just want to change something. Not that it matters much. I was thinking along the lines of a type of Merengue Rustic Maple for the main front room and maybe a Surreal Washed Maple style floor for the kitchen.

Once I found the right company, “carpetwiseflooringamerica” and saw the quality of their product and it’s installation, which is all guaranteed, I was convinced that this was where I’m going to get what I need! After seeing all the cool styles of wood flooring, I really liked the tone and color of the Hardwood Floors that I’ve selected. I’ve got some time still, so I’ll have it figured out soon enough to be sure. I may even put in a bigger bar, maybe incorporate into the hot tub area somehow. Hm, better stick to concentrating on the floors for now, otherwise I may wind up making a mess of things as well as getting a bit over my head.

Kids Sitting At Home Enjoying A Snow Day, With No Snow

Winter storms have been brutal for a good amount of the country this year. We’ve had a lot of cold temperatures and rain, but not the snow that our neighbors to the north are dealing with. We thought all that might change last night, as the weatherman was calling for  2 to 5 inches of snow for this entire part of the state. Of course, officials immediately canceled school and there are thousands of kids sitting home enjoying a snow day. Except there is no snow. LOL

The air was filled with blowing snowflakes this morning when I woke up, but the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. I’m actually glad that we don’t have the snow to deal with, and I’m sure the kids are happy to have a day at home playing video games and watching TV as well as playing with all the new goodies that they got for Christmas just a few weeks ago. So hopefully these kids who should be at school aren’t causing too much grief for their parents on a day that just didn’t turn out the way that all the weathermen predicted it would be, but that isn’t much of a surprise now is it? Even with all of today’s modern technologies that are in place, they still can’t accurately predict what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

Movies On Demand

For some reason I ditched regular TV last tonight and decided to find a movie “On Demand.” I’ve been using the On Demand feature from Comcast for a couple months and I have to admit that I’m getting really spoiled with the convenience of seeing a movie not only when I want to watch but it lets me pause and rewind, as if it was a VCR tape or a DVD. Very cool for when you can’t hear a mumbled line and you want to know what they said. The movie I chose was Semi-Tough, with Burt Reynolds and Kris Kristofferson as two professional football players in a love triangle with the team owner’s daughter. There are some great lines in this movie that reflected the social times and values of the early 1970s.

Most movies and TV shows that I watch from back in that era are so darned corny, and this movie did certainly have it corn balled moments but for the most part it was decent enough for me to get through the whole thing. Kris Kristofferson has always been one of my favorite actors and there are several of his songs that are really wonderful, such a unique sounding voice, that a lot of people don’t appreciate as much as I do. He is no spring chicken these days.

Cigar Samplers

My mother just now posted the Christmas day pictures that were taken on her camera on Facebook to share with everyone. Bless her heart she tries so very hard to master all of today’s latest technologies. I know that a lot of our senior citizens are so intimidated by all of that tekki stuff that they really miss out on all that there is out. It took my parents, especially my mother, a good long while before they would even consider to just sit down in front of a computer and allow me to show them so that they could see what it was all about. Dad finally caught on pretty well, but mom basically settled for learning how to use their email and it wasn’t until last September that I got them both to give Facebook a try!

So I was really tickled that she got the pictures posted today. My favorite picture of all is when my Dad was opening the present that I gave him which was The Ultimate Plasencia Sampler that I posted a picture of below. He was grinning ear to ear. I know he really wanted to light one up right then and there, but mom would have kicked his butt for smoking in the house. I found some great cigar deals online, but even at discount prices cigars aren’t cheap.

Love Me Some Kitchenaid

Not very often do I get what I call “good mail” since the majority of mail that finds its way into my mailbox is a bill or advertisement, neither of which do I enjoy receiving and dealing with. It used to be that once in a while a card or a letter could be found waiting for me to open, those days are long gone compliments of the Internet. LOL! The days are pretty much gone that I would get dozens of Christmas cards in the mail. I think last year I received a total of 3, with the majority of my Season’s Greetings being said and done online.

But today I got a piece of “good mail” not only was it a Christmas card but it had a healthy VISA gift card included in it that just about floored me when I opened the card and saw the amount clearly written on it. My Great Aunt Pearl, bless her heart, was feeling very generous this year and it didn’t take me long to figure out what I want to do with this particular blessing. I plan on spending a good part of this up and coming weekend online. While I’m at it I think I’ll be keeping my eyes open for the parts for the saucepan racks that I need to get that all installed and out of the way as well as trying to find a great deal on some lion sabatier stainless steel knives to complete the set that I’ve been working on for several years now. My kitchen is always a work in progress and I’m always wanting/needing something or another, but I do spend a good amount of time in there so my kitchen is important to me.

Barcoding Equipment

A few neighbors and I have been discussing the problem of items being taken from our yards lately. This past year it has been happening more and more to most folks up and down our street. This is a serious issue right now I am seriously thinking of placing security cameras around my place and see if they seem to do any good or not. I know of a company by the name of Barcode Discount that I have had experience with in the past that deals with a lot of barcode items like barcode software and equipment, from a place that I worked at several years ago.

After leaving that company I looked to see if they had put up a web site as of yet and was pleased to see that they do and that not only do they sell barcoding equipment they also have a nice line of security cameras that I plan on checking out to see if they would be suitable for my needs here at the house. They were nice people at Barcode Discount and I wouldn’t mind giving them some of my personal business.

A Rude Wake Up

Heard several firetrucks go past the house early this morning and they woke me up from a fairly deep sleep. This is a pretty rare happening for this quite neighborhood, there are not all that many houses out this far and along our road. Strangely, the firetrucks returned in a few minutes going the other way, still with their sirens blaring. That makes me think they were having trouble finding the right house.

When we first moved here we found that by law we have to display our house number so that it is visible from the road at all times of day or night. The number cannot be obstructed by bushes or flowers, and if the numbers are on wall address plaques, they must be lighted numbers or you must keep a light on them all through the night.

Now folks, that is just plain common sense, and as most houses have a rural route mail box at the end of their driveways, you would think this is not a problem. But evidently it was a serious enough problem that my good neighbors decided that it had to be a law. We have a mailbox at the end of the driveway, plus added address plaques and numbers to the front porch and the side door. We keep the porch light on all night anyway, so finding our house should be easy for anyone who might be looking.

I really think that home address plaques add an important element of style to your home, just as the exterior lights and window shutters add color and style.  I love the rustic farm house style, with white painted numbers and a black, wrought iron background.

So Many Knobs

Do you have any idea what knurled knobs are?  I didn’t but found out that the thing I needed that my kids lost that goes on the back of my office chair to keep the back at the height I like it, is called a knurled knob.  I have to admit that’s a strange name but when you don’t have one, who cares what it’s called as long as you can replace the missing one.
