Sports Injuries

It amazes me how many people are disabled these days.  I see more and more people in wheel chairs, using canes and other types of devices to help them get around with, especially at the mall. I know that a good amount of people have sports injuries that they are dealing with. I have a friend who injured not just one, but both of his legs playing football in college, he is constantly on the look out for the newest types of knee supports to try. He will never be the same as I knew him in high school, but still an awesome guy with a lot to offer the world, besides playing football.

Sports are a big issue with a good majority of us and the amount of injuries done to us by playing these popular sports are mind boggling. A good web site that addresses sports injuries can be found at physioroom.com and deserves a look see if you have a mind to learn about injuries related to sports,  from a – z. They also have an official Premier League Injury Table List where you can see what sports player is injured and any of their previous injuries as well. Most interesting to read about!

Spending The Afternoon With The Bubble Boy

For some reason I slept like a log last night and this morning. I didn’t wake up until 12:30, which so totally not like me at all. Even though I slept long and heavy, I only woke up once to go to the bathroom, which is so very unusual for me these past couple of years. I usually wake up 2 or 3 times having to get up and run to the bathroom before diving back under the nice soft warm blankets to try to go back to sleep.

So when I finally woke up, I felt so awful, almost like I was coming down with something. So I crawled out of the bed, took a couple of Aleeve, drank a cup of hot tea and took a nice hot bath, hoping to feel much better after soaking for a good long while. But after I got out I still felt pretty bad and decided to just go back to bed and lay down for a while and watch some TV and see if I felt any better.

There was literally nothing on the TV, even with all the channels that I get with our current satellite channel package. I kept returning to the movie “The Boy In The Plastic Bubble” made in 1976, starring John Travolt and Diana Hyland. I remember seeing that movie a long time ago and really didn’t have any interest in watching it again, but since there was nothing else on I decided to tune in and watch just a bit of it, while looking to see if there was anything decent on another channel a bit later on. I was surprised to find that this really was a good movie and that I really didn’t remember much of it at all and before I knew it I was sucked into the whole story line. I ended up watching the rest of the movie, even staying put during the commercials, afraid of missing a single minute of the darn thing. What a great movie!

A Rude Wake Up

Heard several firetrucks go past the house early this morning and they woke me up from a fairly deep sleep. This is a pretty rare happening for this quite neighborhood, there are not all that many houses out this far and along our road. Strangely, the firetrucks returned in a few minutes going the other way, still with their sirens blaring. That makes me think they were having trouble finding the right house.

When we first moved here we found that by law we have to display our house number so that it is visible from the road at all times of day or night. The number cannot be obstructed by bushes or flowers, and if the numbers are on wall address plaques, they must be lighted numbers or you must keep a light on them all through the night.

Now folks, that is just plain common sense, and as most houses have a rural route mail box at the end of their driveways, you would think this is not a problem. But evidently it was a serious enough problem that my good neighbors decided that it had to be a law. We have a mailbox at the end of the driveway, plus added address plaques and numbers to the front porch and the side door. We keep the porch light on all night anyway, so finding our house should be easy for anyone who might be looking.

I really think that home address plaques add an important element of style to your home, just as the exterior lights and window shutters add color and style.  I love the rustic farm house style, with white painted numbers and a black, wrought iron background.

May The Best Man Win

Tomorrow will be a busy day for me all the way around. I have to take my dog to the vet before lunch, and after lunch I have an eye doctor’s appointment that I have really got to make sure to go to. It has been 2 years since I have had my eyes looked at and I’ve been having some concerns with the way that my eyesight that seems to be getting worse, sigh. Besides the fact that my glasses have seen better days. They seem to fall in the fix or repair daily category. Good thing I found a cheap eye-glass repair kit that I keep in my purse 24/7. It has saved my butt more times that I can count.

After all of the appointments are taken care of I plan on making my way downtown to place my vote, head home, eat some dinner then kick back and watch the news with all of the election coverage that will be plastered all over the TV night. I think it will be a couple of days before we really know who wins with all the problems that this year’s election has been facing, but only time will tell. This is an important election, history in the making. I hope that you plan to vote this year. And may the best man win!

Dirty Money

Thought FOR THE DAY

I’m just passing this thought along …..

Have you ever wondered if the one dollar bills in your wallet were ever in a strippers’s G-string or possibly in some bums shoe?

If not, you’re wondering now.

Have a nice day .

Home Made, Make Shift Boarding Stairs For Dad

I’m sorry but I’m just not as knowledgeable about Boarding Stairs as my brothers are at this point. But good grief I can’t even remember the last time I was on a boat or even talked about a boat for that matter. When our father finally got so ill and was having a hard time getting around back in the last years of his life, we all tried to figure out how to afford or to make some make shift Boarding Stairs for him to use to get off and on the numerous boats that we all owned and used and kept in his boat house. The same boat house that he built way before any of us where even thought of. And we did manage to have one built and he used it for several years, it looked so stupid and it stood out like a sore thumb but not a single friend or family member cared one bit as long as it made life easier and more enjoyable for our dad.

He became a land owner early in his life, and his favorite property was the property that he built the log cabin on and was located right on the best water around for his needs and wants. The water is formerly called Buckneer’s Creek, but I can assure you that it in no way resembled a creek. It was perfect for swimming, boating, fishing, crabbing, tubing, canoeing, paddle boating, water skiing, jet skiing, water boarding and any and all other types of water fun you could come up with and it still is. Only thing wrong with the picture is that he isn’t in it any more, but we are so very lucky that we didn’t lose it when he passed on and that we still get to enjoy it year after year. We have a few pictures of the boat with those boarding stairs on it, it still looks awkward but at least you can see a smile on dad’s face there right along side it.

A Whole New World

Due to so many people urging me to, I have gone ahead and started an account on Facebook. It is a whole new world to me and it will take me a bit to get it all figured out but so far so good. It’s only been a few weeks and all ready I have a ton of “friends” and several people that I’ve known from years ago have contacted me through it’s search features, you gotta love it.

Just last night I found that a friend from elementary school had found her way to my account. She provided me with her phone number and we talked for over an hour on the phone last night. Thank goodness for my unlimited long distance that I currently have on my land line. She is living in Denver Colorado, married with children and living the life, which is so good to hear. Both she and her husband are secure in their jobs, are in good health and live in a nice house in a nice neighborhood.

Her biggest news was that she and her husband were both experiencing weight issues so they decided to go over to the U.K. where she received the  tummy tuck surgery  that has become so popular these days and her husband had liposuction done on him. They incorporated a vacation away from the kids and had the surgery done at the same time. She sent me the before and after pictures of them and I have to say that I’m impressed. It’s good to know that the economy hasn’t played havoc on everyone that I know.

Wrestling

Been taking some time looking at Suplay wrestling gear that my son will need in a few weeks when school starts and he gets back into his favorite sport of wrestling. Last year he did pretty well for it being his first time. It surprised me to see that he did so well considering he really isn’t what I would consider the wrestling type, but he seems determined and I will back him all the way as long as he keeps his grades up and doesn’t get seriously hurt in the process.

Finally Some Hope

Ever since I can remember my uncle has been sickly. It seems that shortly after leaving the Navy, back in the Vietnam era, he has suffered in many ways. He is such a great guy and is married to a wonderful woman, they have no kids but quickly became involved with their nieces and nephews lives and have brought a lot of goodness and kindness to us all throughout the years.  We just love them both to pieces and we just hate to see him suffer so much.

I’m glad to hear that he has finally taken the steps to find a good Mesothelioma Lawyer. My aunt went online and Googled “Mesothelioma Attorney” and she quickly found one in their area and they have an appointment next week to meet with this guy. His specialty is in this Mesothelioma Disease that we are hearing so much about on the television these days. I believe that it takes someone who does specialize in certain areas and knows as much as possible about the subject of his specialty. This is true not only in doctors, but attorneys as well and I’m so glad that my uncle now has someone who will possibly help him in his struggle with this whole mess.
