Fed Up With Dishwasher

My dishwasher isn’t very old and it is a Maytag, but I am not happy with the way that my dishes are coming out these past few years. It really makes me angry when I have to practically wash the dishes before placing them into the dishwasher just to make sure that they all come out nice and clean.

I have used the cleansing liquids that they sell, and I’ve tried several brands that claim to make your dishwasher work better and make the dishes come out cleaner and even the tablets that have just recently come on the market, they are expensive and haven’t made a difference what so ever in my machine.

So it looks like I’m going to be in the market for a new dishwasher. I’d like to do my comparison shopping by utilized the convenience of the Internet. Using the computer beats the hell out of bouncing from one store to another trying to remember everything and making a decision from all that. I’ll let my fingers do all the walking for this major appliance purchase.

A Pat on The Back

At the grocery store today I asked the cashier for the store manager, poor guy was ready to freak out on me. I had to assure him that it wasn’t anything negative and nothing to do with him. I wanted to tell the store manager about a certain employee that I see there from time to time that always gives me the biggest smile and a hug and how much I appreciate all that he does in his work there.

The store manager came out and I told him my little story and he thanked me for taking the time out to tell him a good thing about an employee, seems they don’t get many of those these days!

New Best Place

With the economy being as it is today, eating out has become more of a luxury for our family dining. Although the kids like to patronize the fast food places, my husband and I prefer to go somewhere a little more interesting. On this occasion we decided to check out a new restaurant that had just opened and after battling with the kids over where to go, we set the security alarm  and headed out. When we arrived at the new Red Elephant, we were very surprised with what we saw, as were the kids. Inside the decor was a wonderful mix of hand painted murals, featuring all sorts of wild animals.

The kids were totally in awe and had to take time to search them all out. They even wandered into the arcade, which to them, was the greatest thing on earth. The menu had everything an adult might want to eat, as well as pizza and burgers for the younger set. Large screen tv’s were in every corner, so grown-ups could watch the news, as well as sporting events. The evening was a huge success and I think the kids may have, at least for the time being, forgotten about that famous fast food place. Must say that the elephant ears on the menu were the icing on the cake.

Dinner Theater

I am going to take my 11 year old niec to the Dinner Theater in a few weeks. She given tickets to it for her birthday and she decided that she wanted me to take her to it instead of her mom. They have “The Pirates of Penzance Junior” which we should both enjoy and I look forward to going with her!

Angel Food Ministries, Good Cheap Quality Food

I have heard of this Angel Food Ministries before a few times in the past few years, but due to a recent email from my sister I have gone online and found that I can order their high quality food for a very low price, online and pick up the order in a few weeks at a church about 2 miles up the road a piece.

There isn’t any income restrictions and you can charge the food along with your online order, or go down to the closest distribution center and give them cash, check or Food Stamp EBT card info. Sounds like something that I have to check into at the web address of Angelfoodministries.com, my sister all ready put my zip code in and found several hosting sites that are participating is the much needed service, so I should be good to go and just need to look at the menu and see what looks good to me at this time.

Help For Our Elderly Relatives

Each year my brothers and sisters put our heads together to try and find a way to help out our Aunt Jenny and Uncle Dave, who are both now in their 80’s and they both have several health issues to deal with while living on small monthly fixed income. We used to just send them food and/or gift cards for Christmas, but as the years pass we feel the need to do more than that when we all can afford and can agree on something.

You see Aunt Jenny and Uncle Dave are two of the sweetest people that you would ever have the chance to meet and to get to know. Thank goodness they have been active in their church, so they do receive some assistance from the church from time to time, but we all know how humble they are and how bad it makes them feel to receive any help from anyone. There is a special place in heaven for these too special, well seasoned relatives, but we are in no hurry to see them go.

I came up with an idea that I shared with my siblings lately. I took the time to look at various Home Cleaning Companies in Fort Lauderdale and I think I found the perfect one that we can afford to pay for to come out and help Aunt Jenny with all of their house cleaning needs. In the mean time I would like to find a company that will come out and help Uncle Dave with some of the chores that are always needed outside of the house and the yard. Just the thought of him trying climb and balance on a ladder to check and clean the gutters leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth. And of course there are tons of other outside chores that he just isn’t capable of doing anymore either. Maybe I can get my younger brother to help out in finding a good and affordable company to come out before the cold weather hits us.

Large Population Numbers

I find it very disturbing that there are so many people who have let themselves go and have become grossly over weight. No one can deny the fact that when out in public the amount of people that you come across need to loss weight, and I’m not talking about the folks that could take off 10 or 20 pounds, but more the likes of needing to get rid of 50 to 100 pounds of blubber, ugh….While listening to the local news last night, I heard a new story that tells us that the numbers are in, statistics are now showing that 2/3 of the U.S. population are over weight! That is a ridiculous number and if that isn’t a wake up call, I don’t know what is.

Jerky Dog Treats

Every once in a while a product that’s been on the shelves for a long time but never got your attention before will suddenly grab your attention and end up in your shopping cart. Sometimes it is placement on the store shelves that moves and you realize you are out of your routine. Sometimes it is new packaging, such as brighter colors on the box design or change from a box to a resealable bag. Sometimes it must be a mental response to a commercial or even subliminal advertising. Well, whatever the reason, today I noticed a bag of chicken jerky in the aisle for dog treats. It seemed to be a good sized bag with multiple treats inside, so I decided on a lark to buy a bag and see if my dog likes them. We haven’t broken into the bag yet but I’ll let you know if they are a hit or a miss.

Searching for Chocolate

My sister belongs to the local Red Hatter’s club, so I’ve been helping her to find a cool restaurant to hold their March gathering. They are a great group of ladies, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting most of them at various functions that I’ve attended with my sister. One day I’ll be joining the club, but you have to be 50 years old and I have a ways to go yet, but it will come soon enough, I’m sure.

Anyways, it is cool that we no longer have to rely on the old fashioned paper version of the local yellowpages to find local restaurants and such and that we can turn to the Internet to find just about anything you need at any time. Whether it is a local search or trying to find something half way across the world, it’s all there for the taking for anyone looking.

We did come up with a place called The Frenchman’s Corner, that sounds interesting, you can drink your coffee or tea and  taste their Belgian chocolates on a what is promised to be a journey of gastronomic sweet delights. Going with a group of friends to a place like that is perfect. If and when they decide to go there I’ll tag along, sounds like fun and I love chocolate!

Cheap Gift Ideas for Guitarists

Last Christmas was made so much easier by utilizing the Internet for all that it is worth. I actually purchased every single present online this time. I didn’t have to go to the mall or to Walmart or Target for anything, 100%. Except of course for any of the groceries or items that are sold at the grocery stores. Now that is what I’m talking about!

I did all of my research online as well. There is so much good information out there – it just amazes me. By using sites that offer advice, like the one that I used to find a cheap gift for guitarists which gave me good info that I actually used to help decide a couple of gifts with. I don’t think there really is a music store here in this town. Other than what Walmart and Target have to offer, and that isn’t much at all. So online is the way to go unless you want to drive over an hour to the next town over that has a small music store in the old town district.
