For My Listening Pleasure

The jbl speakers at guitar center that I found and ordered came in yesterday. That was quicker than I would have thought they would be, but that is a good thing. I was seriously considering giving these jbl speakers to my brother for Christmas but I hooked them up to make sure that they work and now I am really thinking about keeping them. A good set of speakers can make a huge difference in one’s listening pleasure!

Maybe I’ll make a decision in the next couple of days. I have plenty of time, Christmas isn’t for two more months.

Leave it to Beaver

I love watching black and white television shows and movies. They are one of my favorite currently available and I find that I like the classic movies and shows better than ones that have been made in just a few years from now. One of my favorite shows to watch in HD on my Cable Television is definitely Leave it to Beaver. Many people may not know about this show because it was created about fifty years ago. It’s one of those perfect shows that consists of a good natured housewife and a good family with a hard working husband. In as few terms as possible, it’s an unrealistic family that has been set into a long television show. They have made about six different seasons and I have all of them on DVD.

My mother actually makes fun of me for watching this show. It’s completely outdated and most people don’t really like it because it is completely unrealistic. But that’s probably why I like it so much. It’s just one of those shows that completely takes you out of your normal life and takes you into a world that is based on complete perfection. I guess not everything is perfect, but most of the episodes are definitely based on that perfect family that almost everyone would love to have in their normal and everyday lives.

The Beatles

I was really surprised to find so many Beatle songs that have been done over by other artists. I guess it’s a good thing though, it might help to keep their music alive and going even though we seem to be losing them one by one through out the years. God Bless The Beatles!

Rain Guards & Wind Deflectors

I can’t tell you how many times I have been driving down the road and the rains start coming down, and hard. That is when you see all the motorcycles pulling off of the road and waiting under a bridge or an over pass waiting for the down pour to end so that they can get back on their bikes and hit the road once again. I’ve been caught in the rain while on the back of a motorcycle and it can suck all the fun right out of a nice ride, whether you are driving are riding on the back.

Even in a car, the rain can certainly make driving a major challenge. I know that there are wind deflectors and rain guards available out there and I’m going to start looking into purchasing one for my only is spring a rainy season, but we have a lot of rain in the fall as well and I’m tired of dealing with it.

My brother-in-law is urging me to visit carid.com, which has been in business since 2003 and he has used them frequently. They specialize in custom and OEM car accessories and offer there products for interior and exterior custom styling for performance and your comfort.

I’ve never much been into the customizing of any my vehicles, but my brother-in-law is all about cars, motorcycles and trucks and he knows what he is doing and talking about. So I have asked him to check out the best rain guard for my vehicle and see what he can come up with for me and soon. Next thing you know winter will be here and then we have to deal with snow and all that goes along with that nonsense. I just want to get fall over and done with at this point.

I’m a “Big-Baby” Adult and I’m Proud of It

I am a college-educated 25-year-old who puts in a 50-hour work week and volunteers with a domestic violence hotline on weekends. Ask anyone who even remotely knows me and they will tell you that I am a big kid at heart, however. Life is way too short to be taken too seriously. When I am home, I unabashedly cast off my professional persona and revert back to a simpler, more innocent time.

The little time I do get to myself is, more often than not, spent in my living room, laying on my leather couch, watching children’s television programs. I sure do love me some Sponge Bob Square Pants. That Patrick Star always manages to make me chuckle and I just love Sandy Squirrel’s overdone southern accent. I could write a tome on how I consider the show more for “big-baby” adults than for the child audience for witch the show is truly intended.

Sponge Bob Square Pants is not the only program I adore. Thanks to the satellite i got after seeing this Direct TV Satellite Comparison, I have a plethora of options at my fingertips. South Park is a riot and the Boondocks is a welcome late-night distraction. I think everyone should indulge the child with in from time-to-time.

Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp Black

You just gotta love how easy it is to find things on the Internet, just a few key strokes into the Google search engine, such as “Roland Micro Cube Combo Amp Black” and badda boom, badda bing, insto presto it came up with the perfect  amp that I am looking into purchasing my my nephew for birthday party next month.

Sure beats the heck out of running from store to store, or worse yet using the old paper version of the Yellow Pages. I haven’t used the Yellow Pages in years, as soon as I was finds it’s way to my house it goes straight into the Recycling bin that the city provides us all with.

Fun With Photos

I’ve always been a bit leery of sites that offer you to make funny pictures of the photos that we all have stored on our PC. I’ve been using the computer and the Internet for many a years, but I have my strong points and my weaknesses as well and photos are one of my weaknesses. I mean I know how to take a picture, but then having to download it to my PC is another story, I can never find the right cable and then to top it all of with I can’t seem to figure out where the best place to download the buggers into. Something so simple can really mess with my mind, silly but true.

Anyway, once I’ve downloaded them they usually stay right there, but since my good friend Judy came over last night and showed me a great website that allows you to create funny pictures from your photos store on your computer’s hard drive, I think that I finally have the whole thing figured out and under control. I’ve got a lot of great pictures that have been sent to me throughout the years and I came up with one that was taken of me a few years back at an office party that I decided to play around with and I came up with a few fun photo effects that I thought were playful enough to continue messing with!

Carpet Cleaning and More

My house was an absolute mess, a complete disaster last spring. I couldn’t take it anymore after my daughters friend came to stay with us for a weekend, and had made a comment to my daughter about how much of a wreck our house looked. It hit me that it was time to give my home a deep cleaning. So I scurried around a few local store for cleaning products to use around the house, took them home and started my cleaning spree.

My daughter even pitched in, and we had gotten a ton done. It just didn’t seem to be enough, the air in our home smelt a bit musty and the carpets still had stains on them from spills and accidents from years prior. I spent a night to myself in the house one night, while my daughter went to stay with a friend, and did some searching n the net for any good deals I could come by to have my carpet cleaned, deep cleaned. I came across a site that offers carpet cleaning for a great price that I couldn’t say no to.

When the carpet was done, I invited old friends and relatives over to enjoy a nice afternoon gathering n our newly felt home. We got so many compliments about how nice our home looked and smelled. I owe to carpet cleaning holly springs nc, I couldn’t have done a better job myself, they really made the difference.

Checking Out The Wind Instruments

Things with my daughter at school have been crazy due to after school activities, sports, or her friends events. When she isn’t busy doing any of those things, she is sitting in her room watching TV. Which is something Id rather her not waste her time doing so I had recently signed her up at school to play an instrument with one of her very close friends in hopes that it would keep her busy enough to keep her away from the TV, and to also get her to learn and appreciate music in a whole new light.

They class requires the student to purchase their own instrument that they are interested in learning how to pay. I had a night all to myself while she was over at a friends house for the night, so I took advantage of it to search around for any wind instruments I think she would enjoy playing. I found a neat site that offers just that in no time. I ordered it immediately due to its unbelievable price, and when I had showed up my daughter had gotten home just an hour after and she was so excited to try it out before she went to class to show it to her teacher.

She sounded like a natural, and ever since she has learned how to play a few select songs for school, she has been on it non stop. I couldn’t be any happier to finally have found something she can enjoy and use her time to learn the beauty of music she can make.

Looking Forward to Vacation

When I was growing up, summer vacation was a very big deal. Families looked forward to school letting out for summer break and planned trips that would take them out of town for a full week or two. Part of the reason is that it would get so hot and humid that we all needed to escape the heat. But part of it was also that family time together seemed more important back in the day than it seems now.

My employer gives us a week’s paid vacation after we have worked for a full year. I wish they were a little more generous about giving us paid time off, but they don’t. However, they do expect us to use the vacation time and they do not make us feel guilty or threatened for actually being gone for a week. I know some places really discourage taking time off. some places say that if you can be gone from your post for a full week that maybe they don’t really need you there at all.

This year I plan on going to the beach and getting as far away from home as I can drive on one tank of gas. I would really like to go to Chincoteague Island and be in an area that is more concerned about wildlife and natural habitat than they care about boardwalks and mini golf. I want a nice escape from noise and crowds, and last time I went to Chincoteague it took me about 6 hours to get there. Anything farther away than 6 hours is probably smarter to fly than to try and drive.
