There may be a new trend coming in the world of football. It seems that some colleges have begun coloring their fields to match the colors of their team. The first to do so was Boise State who installed a blue colored field for their team. In order to follow suit, Eastern Washington plans to have a field of red for their team to play on. I can’t imagine how much further this trend will go, but maybe we’ll see other innovative trends like this in the future.
Haiti Earthquake aftermath
We have all been hearing about the giant earthquake that devastated the country of Haiti last week. My heart goes out to all those people who have suffered from the loss of loved ones, the loss of homes and businesses, and the ruination of their country. It’s hard to imagine the pain they must feel.
I am glad to report that help is on the way from almost every country in the world. It’s good to know that despite the problems, everyone has chipped in and are doing all they can to help. I know that I’ve done my part by contributing to the cause and I hope that everyone else will do the same. Together, we can make a difference!
Happy New Year
The New Year is ringing in and I am hoping that it will be a good one. I have made a few resolutions that I think will help me become a better person this year. One thing I have determined to do is to lose a few pounds. I want to start eating healthier and have taken steps to do so.
There are a lot of little things to do that all add up to a better way of living. I am going to eat more fruits and vegetables this year and try to lay off the fatty diet I have become used too. I hope that everyone else will take some steps to improve their life as well. Good Luck and Happy New Year!!
Merry Christmas to all!!!
It’s that wonderful time of the year again and I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. This years Christmas has been wonderful so far and I hope it has been for you too! We had a great ham dinner and relatives galore. We had some great phone calls from far away family and cards and letters from old friends. All the presents are unwrapped and everyone got a treat. All in all it was a great time for all!
Last chance
Well I guess that Christmas is almost upon us. This weekend will probably be the last chance I have to complete my Christmas shopping. I feel fortunate to have it all nearly done, but there are a few last minute gifts I need to buy. Even though the weather is very cold, I think I’ll brave it and go to the mall for one last look around.
There are a few people at work that I’d like to get something for. I always find it difficult to buy for my coworkers and that’s why I tend to put it off till last. I think that buying some gift cards will be the ticket this year and I’ll hand them out like candy. I guess that I’ll probably receive a few gift cards myself!
Rainy and cold
Today’s weather has been rainy and cold. This has ruined my plan of putting up the Christmas lights that I had planned to do. Since this chore has been canceled, I have been forced to find other things to do. Mostly, I have been on the computer catching up on my writings. It has been a busy time for me lately and I needed a day or two to catch up.
One problem that I have had is my body is aching. Whenever the cold gets to my old bones, I get a little uncomfortable. I turned up the heat a little but do not want to run up my heating bill too much. I was glad when the clothes we washed were put in the dryer, that warmed things up a bit! I think maybe I’ll also start a fire later this evening that will be nice!
Immigration
Ever since the economic downturn started, there have been increased grumblings about the immigration laws. Some people wonder why the U.S. is still allowing 1.5 million new immigrants into the country when there is not enough work for the people who are already here. These new additions to our nation are now competing with Americans for the few jobs that are left.
While I would never agree that we should end immigration to our country, I would suggest that we could further limit the number of new people. That only makes sense when our unemployment rate is so high. I hope the powers that be would take a second look at this policy to see if it still makes sense.
Happy Holidays!!!
It’s that special time of year again when the whole family gets together. The Thanksgiving Holidays are always a special time for our family as we all enjoy the time we get to spend with each other catching upon the latest news. Another aspect of this particular holiday I like is to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
I love to wake up and watch the floats go by and the marching bands play. I am always reminded of the many characters that have touched our lives and become a part of the American culture. Well, I got to go eat and so I just wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!!
Free up the Internet!
One item in the news recently was President Barack Obama’s call for China to allow its citizens more access to the internet. Under the current Chinese administration, the people of China are severely limited in the material they can view. The government controls what can be seen and blocks many western sites from its peoples view.
I hope that the great country of China will realize that true power is given to the government by the people. I hope they will reconsider their efforts to control every facet of their citizen’s lives.
Love them gift cards!
I have thought that the invention of the gift card was a great idea. Its ease of purchase in the event that an emergency gift was required made it a useful tool. I have been saved from an embarrassing situation more than once by being able to purchase a quick gift for a forgotten event.
It turns out that there can be drawbacks to this wonderful item. Some cards carry fees that reduce their value over time. Another problem is that many times the cards are never used. When they are used, it’s not uncommon that the buyer ends up spending more money than they thought by using the card! Despite their drawbacks, I still love the gift card!
