An important decision

One thing that is very important in our lives is the car we drive. That’s why it’s so important to find the right one when the time comes to purchase a new one. It’s not a decision that should be taken lightly and one should ensure that they consider all the available options. My friend John is looking for a new car and I have volunteered to help him out.

We went to many car lots to see what we liked. We took a look at many of the cars out there. There were a few that caught our eye. One that I would mention was the Buick Lucerne. It had a lot of the options my friend was looking for and we both liked its style and appeal. Another car that we both liked was the Hyundai Accent. We both knew it would be a very practical car for the money.

The last car that we wanted to see was the Volkswagen Gti. I am pretty sure that this is the car my friend will settle on. We are still going to look around some more and see if we can find more info on the best cars to buy. The process has been long and arduous, but I know it will be worth the trouble in the end.

A cell phone ban

It seems that the cell phone is causing some problems for the Indian village Lucknow. The people in this part of the world traditionally arrange marriages between their sons and daughters. They do this in part to ensure that boys and girls of the same clan do not marry. There are occasional exceptions though and that is where the cell phone comes in.

It seems that the young girls are using the phones to meet boys and they then arrange to elope. This causes real problems as marrying a member of your own clan is punishable by death. The local village council has decided to ban cell phone use for the girls and to severely limit their use by the boys.

That time of year

It’s that time of year again when the turkey will soon be in the oven. This has always been one of my favorite times of the year and I am sure that this year will be no different. We plan to have some family over tomorrow and have been spending the day cleaning up the house for company. We also did some shopping at the grocery.

It’s always nice to see the family. I’m sure we will all watch the football game and relax in the living room. Of course, it’s always nice to see the family leave when the day is over as things can get a little hectic!

The clubhouse

I guess by now everybody knows that I work for a large company. I really like it as we do many charitable activities. One thing that we do is to support a local football team. I enjoy being a part of this as the kids have so much fun. This year, we decided to take a look at the clubhouse that is near the home field. The kids use it to change before and after the games. We wanted to fix it up as it was getting a little ratty looking.

We did a lot of work to the clubhouse and had it painted and made many general repairs. Someone came up with the idea that installing Gym Lockers would be a good thing. We all agreed with the idea and I was put in charge of purchasing the needed Lockers. I went to the internet to find out more information.

After some searching around, I came across a site called morelockers.com. They had a good selection of products to choose from. I saw that they had a Locker for sale that would be perfect for what we needed. I showed what I intended to buy to everyone and they all agreed the product was good and the price was right. I can hardly wait to see the faces of the kids!

Rights versus Security

There is a new debate in the news today. It has to do with airline security and the rights of citizens to their privacy. The debate raged on today after a man named John Tyner refused to subject himself to a full body scan at the security gate of San Diego’s Lindbergh Field. Tyner explained that he had health concerns as well as Privacy concerns.

After the incident, Tyner finally refused to fly and was returned his airline ticket money. The authorities though, have threatened Tyner with a $10,000 dollar fine and a lawsuit for refusing the security check. The incident has people on both sides of the issue making their case. I believe that the battle between citizen’s rights and security will go on for quite awhile.

My Trip

Every year I like to treat myself to a little fun. Like the old saying goes “all work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy”. My name is not Johnny, but I could use a bit of fun anyway. I was trying to think of what I wanted to do this year for my vacation when I thought about playing a game or two of golf. The only question was where I should go to play.

A friend of mine from work suggested that I should check out Myrtle Beach. He had recently visited the area and told me about the golf packages Myrtle Beach that were available. It sounded like a great idea and since I trust his opinion, I decided to look into the situation. I went online and found a site called http://www.myrtlebeachseasideresorts.com/. I liked what I was seeing and so I read on.

I saw that there were a number of places I could go. The best part was that there are many golf courses right in that area. Just get on the computer and put in www.myrtlebeachseasideresorts.com and go from there. I couldn’t think of a better combination of things than the beach and golf together. I knew my mind was made up and that my trip would soon be planned. I guess I’ll be letting you know how it all turns out!

One less loser

I was glad to hear that Mexican marines shot and killed a drug baron. Ezequiel “Tony Tormenta” Cardenas was killed in a shootout on Friday. The incident happened just across the U.S. border near Brownsville Texas. The shootout caused mayhem in the town but was a victory in the war on drugs.

It took about 150 marines to do the job. Unfortunately, three marines were killed in the firefight. My heart goes out to their families. Mexican drug violence has become increasing a problem and anything that could help is a bonus. I’m glad there is one less bad guy out there and hope the authorities will be able to apprehend or kill many more.

In these troubled financial times, there are a lot of people who are taking desperate measures to get the money they need. Some of these people are thieves and they are very good at what they do. They use the internet as a way to ply their trade. These hackers use several tricks to gain the user names and passwords of their intended victims. They use the information to steal money from people’s accounts.

The good news is that there are many ways to protect yourself from having this happen to you. There are many sites on the internet where you can learn about identity theft as well as your credit score. Having this information is a good way to prevent people from taking your hard-earned money. There are several sites that I use on a regular basis. One site is called freescore.com and it’s very helpful.

What attracted me to the site is that you can receive a free credit score report. I also put into practice a lot of the information I found there. I feel much more comfortable about the way my computer is protected as well as my accounts. I love having the peace of mind that comes with knowing how to manage my money and my credit score.

Foreign bug invasion

One area where the government needs to do better is the area of bug invasion. Every year, the ports in Los Angeles and New York allow foreign insects to enter the United States. While some of the insects don’t have a large impact on our environment, others do. One example is the Asian Longhorn Beetle.

This beetle kills thousands of trees in our forests every year. The economic damage to our forests could be in the millions of dollars per year. Some measures will soon be implanted to stop the bugs in their tracks. I hope that inspections and treatments at the border will be effective. If they aren’t, we could be in real trouble.

Grants

I like to work on projects. One project I have been working on lately is helping a friend of mine get his business started. His name is Bob and he knows all about fishing. He wanted to sell the fishing lures he makes on the internet. We have spent a lot of time putting the site together and it has been a success so far. We were hoping that we could do a little better next year and were looking for ways to expand.

One thing we wanted was a little more capital for advertising. The problem was that neither of us had the kind of money we needed. That’s when we started looking into the possibility of receiving one of the small business grants that were available online. Though we didn’t know it, there are a number of small business grants that can be had for those who own businesses.

We found a site called businessgrants.org that has a lot of information on how to find a grant. I couldn’t believe that so many small business grants were available. There is a lot of money available for those who can find it. The site provided many ideas on how to get the grants that we needed. I’m glad there are sites like this that can help people when they need it.
